Daniel J Hartshorn Inspections

I have been practicing law for way too many years. I have dealt with many inspectors and he is the only one that I recommend to my clients. I also have used him for my homes. He is extremely through and will go over the purchase in great detail so you have a very good understanding of the house. Since this is likely the most important purchase you will ever make, I would not go anywhere else.

I haven’t written a review in ages. I’m coming out of Unilocal retirement for the sole purpose of giving credit where it’s due: Daniel Hartshorne is a darned good home inspector and he deserves a stellar review somewhere in cyberspace so the world can know just how amazing he is.
I’ve worked with Daniel in the purchase of two separate homes. He’s remarkably thorough and knowledgable, as well as kind and personable, fair and hardworking. He’s a former builder who knows just about everything there is to know about structural soundness, wiring, plumbing, water supply, gutters, roofs, fireplaces, boilers, radon amelioration, etc… You name it, he knows it, including things that inspectors usually are not expected to know, like permitting laws. I can honestly say, without exaggeration, that the man is probably a genius. He thinks like a crime scene investigator, taking clues that most of us would pass over without a second thought and reading into them a plausible story. (Just one example: In one home, there was a rust stain on a metal heating unit cover beneath a window. Our realtor thought it was from rain coming in through a window left open during a storm. Daniel figured out from the localized spotting and the smudges on the glass that it was probably from dog drool from a large mastiff who liked to press his nose to the glass while waiting for his people to come home.) Thanks to him, I also narrowly avoided purchasing a home whose support beams were dangerously warped, a problem that could’ve resulted in complete collapse within a decade of purchase.
I’m not sure of the exact geographic scope of his work, but I’m fairly certain it includes Danbury, Bethel, Sherman and New Fairfield. Based on a few calls to other inspectors in the area, Daniel’s prices seem to be extremely fair. I recommend him without hesitation.
