Westcott Mazda

The scheduling at this place is a joke. I showed up for my 3:30 appointment to wait in the parking lot for 20 minutes. A «real winner of a customer» in line behind me went to the office and was helped before me. This should have been noticed by the service manager, but he was working by himself. I brought this up to the him when I was finally helped and I was told that they would get me taken care of right away. I was assured that it would be done by 5pm. This was after the customer called me a «stupid #*+%#» as he walked past me and spoke to his wife in Spanish thinking I couldn’t understand him… simply because I was there before him… with an appointment. It is now 2 hours and 15 minutes later and I’m still waiting for my car. They close at 5 and it’s now 5:45. This is par for the course. It has always taken at least an hour and 20 minutes, if not longer, for me to get my oil changed and my tires rotated. I come back to the dealership in an attempt to help my resale value since I overpaid by 5,000 because I’m an idiot. This is seriously about to bring me to tears. I am in the service industry so I always aim to please. NOT ONCE have I been compensated for my long wait times. Not once in over a dozen visits. Why do I keep coming back?

Finally getting around to writing this review. We purchased a new 2013 Mazda CX5 and have been coming here regularly for service. All I can say is go elsewhere. The service typically takes at least twice as long as they say, and costs WAY too much. Save your money and time by servicing it yourself.

I’m glad I didn’t check Unilocal before we went here! I’m happy to say that our experience was a great one, and that was from start to finish (for the entire five plus hours that we were there).
Now, I am not a «Yay, new car!» kind of a girl. When we took our 11 year old Tahoe in for service, neither of us expected to hear that the engine needed repairs that would cost at least $ 7,000. After a few hours of stunned heartbreak, we decided it was time for a new car.
After three solid days of researching cars, checking and comparing ratings and reviews, MPG and features, safety and reliability reports, we narrowed down our list of 52 contenders to the top three.
Two of the top three were Mazdas. The third was a VW. So, we knew we needed to visit both lots to see what the cars were like in person, and maybe take a test drive. We chose the Mile of Cars because the Mazda lot and the VW lot were within walking distance of each other.
We started here, at Westcott, and never left. Our salesperson was Erick, and he was great. He didn’t push, he didn’t hover, he didn’t intrude with unasked-​for advice. He answered our questions, gave us room to chat, allowed us to wander the lot a few times, and then took us out for a spin.
He then went and found us the exact car we wanted — color, interior and features included — and then went to the dealer in El Cajon to drive it back to the lot for us.
And THEN, he washed and prepped the car for us, since the department was backed up and he didn’t want us to wait. I mean, seriously!
Tom was our finance director, and he was also fantastic. He talks a bit fast, but he’s got a sense of humor and is really knowledgeable. He gave us copies of everything, even his scribblings on his notepad.
We’ve only had the one experience with this lot so far, but we’re both very impressed. And we love our new car!

Horrible service.
I have been a loyal customer for over 6 years, and have never received such horrible service.
I bought a brand new 2016 Mazda Cx3, 3 weeks ago. I was driving to LA two days ago and the car broke down. I called them since they are the ones who sold me the car and told me to call them if I had any problems. Which I did… and all they had to say was, they cant do anything about it.

+ Eduardo Sales — Told me he would get me immediate assistance and tell the service manager (He never did)
+ Henry Sales Manager– Also hung up on me and said he couldn’t help
I would not recommend going to their dealership to buy a Mazda. They will not help you in any way after you sign the papers and drive off with your vehicle.

This is somewhat a very late review, I got the MAZDA 3 last May and dealt with Eddie Orozco, superb customer service, very friendly and would do an extra effort to satisfy the ustomer. The team also MIKE and BILL. It was a pleasant experience dealing with such people… By the way ZOOOM ZOOOM ZOOOOM

Made a decision to buy a 2016 Mazda and was hoping to stay in our area — Chula Vista.
Tried to do business with this team but they really turned us off.
It appeared that they did not take us seriously. Also, their website is abused by them and used primarily to trap leads and call you. We got telephoned four times in 10 minutes although we did not wish to be called by them.
I have decided not to state names of the guys who we spoke to, because they were very unprofessional.
Went to Fashion Valley and did business with Hine Mazda and got the deal done in an hour.

Eddie was awesome and worked with me quickly to get a deal in my budget. I would definitely recommend coming here to buy your Mazda! Very friendly staff.

I had a weird experience at another dealer in town where they wouldn’t honor a deal quoted over the weekend on very next monday morning. Fine.
I started contacting the local SD county Mazda dealers via the web (chat, forms, etc), expressing interest in a new mx-​5, who were showing the model I wanted in inventory on the web. Specifically, with an interest to purchase soon. By the time I was half-​way through the 2^nd dealer’s web process — E. O at Wescott was already calling me back from my web form submission. I told him my experience — gave him the quoted material from over the weekend — and by that afternoon — I was driving out of National City with a new Mazda. They came pretty close to matching the original — but not honored deal — AND — got me out of there in about 90 minutes. All I can say is, thank goodness I ran into this group of professionals.

Everybody should know — Buying a car can be strenuous, anxiety-​inducing and a royal pain in the butt. When you’re dealing with Eddie at Wescott Mazda, that is not the case. I had submitted an inquiry via
for a Mazda 3, and Eddie was the one to respond. He told me what they had on their lot and was very open about what he would be able to do with me about price prior to coming down there. As I live in Santee, National City isn’t just a hop, skip and a jump away. No smoke and mirrors, no games, no gimmicks. He was honest and up front with what he’d be able to do before I got down there.
Not only did he deliver on his promise, but he gave me more than I asked for. My credit situation wasn’t the greatest but I heard him fight for me when dealing with the GSM. As a person that used to sell cars, I can tell you that that is a rarity.
Eddie was never pushy, very informative, and took time to answer all of my questions. Mike in financing deserves a very big thank you, as well. They both worked hard to get me a great deal, great protection and all the bells and whistles. Looking to buy a Mazda? Do yourself a favor and get in contact with these gentlemen. Your experience will be unlike any you’ve had at a dealership.

Update: I finally got my car 2 weeks + the date of purchase. And I have to say it was worth the wait. The car looks beautiful and drives great, so far so good. Our sales person, Eddie, was sincerely apologetic for our experience and there were genuine reasons for why things went the way they did. If you do decide to use Westcott Mazda– see him because he is a really nice guy.
Some promises were unfulfilled by the car dealership such as a new key. The one that was turned in by the previous owner is literally broken in half but, still functional. I was told among purchasing the car that it would be replaced but, today was told I’d have to pay the programming fee. So lesson learned– make sure all of your expectations are PUT IN PRINT. After my experience I think the least they could have done was thrown in said key but, business is business I guess
ANOTHER UPDATE: Two days since my LAST update… My windshield wipers weren’t replaced as promised and underneath my passenger seat is filthy– there is literally gunk stuck to the floor! I was told that the window wipers will be ordered… I’m just not understanding why it wasn’t done correctly the first time. It is becoming more and more evident that they do not give a crap about quality or customer satisfaction. I’ve never felt more robbed of my time and money in my life.

Great car buying experience! I never thought I would say those words, but it really was! All the people I dealt with there were very nice. Tom, the finance manager, was by far the star of the show. He had a great sense of humor and was very sincere.
I knew what I wanted before I arrived and was prepared. I got exactly what I wanted and am happy with the car. I got a Mazda 3 and I personally feel that this car is far superior to any other in its price range. I did a lot of research and shopping around before deciding on this one. If you want a nice new car that won’t cost you a fortune, I highly recommend this one and you will feel good about purchasing at this dealership.

My wife and I had a very pleasant experience here when leasing our new 2016 Mazda CX-​5 Touring. Our salesman was Eddie Orozco and he was very helpful on getting the deal we wanted. He was very honest and helped us maximize our savings in every way possible. We are very impatient customers and this was actually the quickest lease purchase we have ever done and that in itself really impressed us. We recommend dealing with Eddie if you choose this dealership, he will not lead you astray.

Check Engine lite on, so I take the car in for diagnosis and repair, or so I thought. I’m told all the great and trustworthy guys in Service I’ve worked with in the past (Art, Danny, Steven) no longer work there. Hmmm. None? Many of these same guys are mentioned positively in other posted reviews. Very suspicious, no ?
Being short of time, I decide to give the new crew a chance. $ 100+ diagnosis later (I don’t ever remember having to pay that !) I’m told about the «problems» and «$ 900+» estimate. Now I’m really suspicious.
Decide to take my car to another mechanic who works on the other family cars despite being told by Westcott they will credit the diagnosis fee if I get the repairs done.
New diagnosis and repair by the other mechanic — $ 200. Car running great.
Enough said.

Purchased a «certified used» car. Love the car. This is how my 3 star rating breaks down:
Sales Dept. = 5 Stars
Finance Dept. = 5 Stars
Service Dept = 4 Stars
DMV Dept. = 2 Stars
Service Dept — Certified Used Inspection = 2 Stars
2 Star ratings explained:
1) DMV — Person that handles plates and registrations only works on Monday’s. We received the registration but never received license plates. I had to call on numerous occasions and had to re-​explain the issue each time. Even when talking to the same person twice. Finally got the plates after 4 weeks of trying.
2) The vehicle was rated as «certified used.» after the first 22 miles of driving the front brakes started squeaking really bad. Upon inspection I noticed the passenger side front rotor had a deep gouge in it. Went through the hassle of taking it back to the dealer and they replaced the front pads and machined the rotors. They indicated the prior owner had used aftermarket pads that were not correct for that vehicle. If this was missed on a «Certified Used inspection» then it makes me wonder what else may be wrong with the car that we just don’t know about yet.
All that being said, I love the car and would definitely consider giving the dealership another try at a future date, but I sure would be disappointed if I went through similar hassles again.

This is a tip for you all, as soon as they say «we have good relationships with our banks» or all the other crap about how they are a family and work with all everyone in purchasing a car. RUN and don’t fall for it!!!
I had a deal and everything and left only to be called back 3 days later that something went wrong with the bank and the monthly rate would be $ 435 instead of the $ 325 we had agreed on.
All the men at this dealership are dishonest and lie

I called Westcott Mazda and spoke to Edwin about numbers. I gave him the price I wanted to purchase the car for and he said he’d speak to his manager. Within 5 – 10 he called back and stated that his manager agreed. It was an extremely competitive price and I’m surprised they even agreed Lol
After my bf got off work we took the drive from Riverside to National City and it was so worth it! There was no bait and switch, no nonsense, it was a straight forward deal. Although they’re was a slight misunderstanding, everything was easily worked out: The deal took about 2 – 3 hours because there was a couple who purchased a car right before us and the paperwork «closer» had to finish them up first.
When I drove off the lot, my car still had stickers and I had to take them off myself since the car detailer didn’t do such a great job, but it’s no big deal. Nothing a little elbow grease couldn’t fix.
Overall I’m extremely happy with my purchase! Thank you so much Edwin & Joey (I hope that’s your name lol) you guys are amazing!!! P. S thanks for the Ironside recommendation Joey!!! It was delicious lol

I can’t even rate this experience because the two hour wait just to see the finance guy to sign my papers has trumped anything good.

This review is long overdue. I had a great experience with Eddie (Orozco) as my sales manager when I bought my car on Black Friday (of all days). He was super knowledgeable, friendly, and didn’t go for the hard sell. Previously I had some horrible experiences with some pretty crooked car salesmen and this experience was the complete opposite, which is why I went with Westcott.
Also, Eddie showed me how to use my car after purchase (I mean like a month after). I had questions about some features and he took the time to walk me through it and show me how to use the technology, which was really awesome considering he had already made the sale. I highly recommend Wescott if you’re on the market for a Mazda Ask for Eddie…

I needed to buy a new car as the transmission was slipping on my 14 year old Honda Accord. This was the first time I was buying a car, and I had no clue what I wanted. It took about 1.5 months of researching on US News Car Rankings and a few test drives for me to decide that I wanted a Mazda3 — Five Door Hatchback (S Grand Touring) model. I was looking for pretty much all options to be included except for the full technology package (Forward Obstruction Warning, Lane Departure Warning, etc). My requirements were at least a 4 door and hatchback. My best friend’s requirements was a car that moves when changing lanes on the highway /​freeway.
I arrived at Westcott Mazda on a Wednesday night for a test drive. At that point, I was pretty close to deciding that I wanted a Mazda3. I just needed a test drive to finalize my decision. Yuriel, Ernesto, and Gilbert were the folks that helped me through the car purchasing process. They were professional, not-​pushy, and respectful. No talking down to a female potential buyer here.
The car purchasing process was easy, quick, and efficient. I’m a Mazda3 — Five Door Hatchback (S Grand Touring) fan — especially the 184 HP with the 27 mpg city /​37 mpg highway. I drove from San Diego to Los Angeles (Pasadena area) and back on less than 1 tank of gas (approximately 13 gallons). It was an amazing experience, and I love my new Mazda3 — 5 Door Hatchback (S Grand Touring)! Zoom Zoom Zoom. (Extra Zoom for Sports Mode).

Art in the service department has always treated me very well. He has caught small issues before they turned into big ones and saved me a ton of money. Whenever I need a shuttle service or special accommodation, he has always done everything he could to help me out. His team goes the extra mile and when I drop my ’12 Mazda 3i off for service, it always comes back cleaned and detailed! Lupe from the service team is very cheerful and friendly, the front desk gals Carla and Kylie are sweet and helpful as well. The sale experience when I bought my car was one of the best I have ever had at a car dealer as well!
I really appreciate the service and attitude of this business and their great team members!
