This bakery is amazing!!! We ordered a cake and cookies for a Vineyard Vines themed bridal shower and Liz exceeded all of our expectations. The cake was beautiful and delicious. We left the cake’s design to the baker and it was exactly what we envisioned and more! The cookies were so cute and delicious too, they made great favors. First time using Liz to make a Super Bowl cake. I have to say what a pleasant experience doing business with her. She made a delicious chocolate round cake with a strawberry filling that was to die for! The cake was so beautifully decorated with edible mascots from both teams. It was a hit at my party! And the best part about Liz is that she was willing to make the cake for me 3 days prior to the SuperBowl! A true professional! Thanks so much and I will definitely use her again.

Liz absolutely lived up to reviews and deserves the 5 star rating. I didn’t even know I wanted a cake until four days before the party. We met Thursday night, she talked out the ideas, and actually sparked an even-​better idea, which ended up being the theme of the party. The confidence of knowing what our theme was got the momentum going, raised the bar and got us excited. And then there was the technical part… she rocked literally, complete with LOTS of fondant rocks, kayaks with paddles, water, mile/​trail markers with his name on them… SO GREAT! Wish everyone offered the same kind of service. THANKS LIZ!

Anything which I say about the cake that liz made will not be enough. It was just amazing. It looked as I wanted it to and it tasted AMAZING! We coordinated everything over emails (as I live in san diego) and she gave the cake as I wanted. She went the extra mile to add decorations which would accentuated the cake.
Her fondant work is great. The fondant was soft, rolled very thing and fresh (you can tell when the fondant quality is great). She made sure there was a generous amount of buttercream to keep the cake moist. Would highly recommend her! As she says ‘her chocolate is most popular’ and for all the right reason.

Made my baby shower cake which came out amazing. Not only did it look great, it tasted amazing. Very easy to work with and delivered everything I wanted and more. I would highly recommend her to anyone. Thanks again for the amazing cake!

I live in Los Angeles and wanted to get a cake for a friend’s 50^th birthday, who would be celebrating it in Framingham. Liz was great to work with – we spoke on the phone, I placed an order, and she delivered the cake on my friend’s bday. She made it happen and on short notice too. I heard that the chocolate cake was delicious.

Liz is truly talented! She just made a wonderful two tier cake for me for my birthday. It was not just a beautiful cake but delicious too! I will be using The sleepy Baker again!

The Sleepy Baker is a true craftsman. We have now purchased a number of cakes from this business and it has exceeded our expectations every time. Highly recommend for any occasion big and small. Great way to surprise your significant other.

Liz helped make my mother-in-law’s 80^th birthday party a huge success! We went with an Irish theme and went back and forth a couple of times. Liz wanted to make sure she got it right and thought to ask all of the right questions. Turns out the cake was not only beautiful, but delicious! I will be using The Sleepy Baker again!

Liz Berman made the most incredible Elvis Presley Cake for my husband’s 70^th birthday. She is so creative and talented, and the Elvis she made looked very very real! The only complaint we had was that the cake was so incredibly delicious that the beautiful FABULOUS cake was gone in half an hour! Liz made the night so special. She really is one of the Best Bakers of Boston. We can’t wait to have more birthday cakes! Cheryl W

I stumbled across this bakery by reading Unilocal and it turned into a wonderful, positive, delicious experience.
When I first made contact with Liz, the owner, I was not sure what I wanted but I knew I wanted a unique cake for my daughter’s graduation. After a pleasant discussion we decided that it would be a cake that looked like a Reeses cup and flavored the same way! (My daughter’s favorite treat on earth!) Liz sent me some ideas and I choose one that I loved. We set up a delivery date and time and I felt confident that she would get the job done and she did!
The cake arrived on time and looked perfect — Reeses would have been proud, my daugher was thrilled and the guests took pictures to send to all their friends. Then we got to eat it — another Wow moment. The peanut butter filling was fantastic, light, creamy and rich. The chocolate cake was moist, chocolatey and delicious. It is rare that you you can be totally happy with any product but this was the exception. From inception through the last bite — this was awesome. I can say that this experience «takes the cake».
The owner was a joy to deal with and reasonably priced. I will be a repeat customer.

I have been in search for the perfect cake for years and have finally found it at The Sleepy Baker! I have tried all the well-​known bakeries in Brookline, Boston and the Metrowest area, but nothing compares to The Sleepy Baker. The quality, creativity and customer service is impeccable! Liz Berman, owner of The Sleepy Baker, worked with my picky daughter to create her dream birthday cake which she loved. I also had Liz create a cake of her choice for my in-​laws 50^th wedding anniversary. The cake was delicious, elegant and the talk of the night. I admit, I couldn’t wait to eat the leftover cake for breakfast! And I did, along with my husband and kids! Best breakfast ever!

I met Liz through a friend of mine and I asked her to make my birthday cake for my 29^th birthday a few years ago. I don’t know a lot about baking or flavors, so I’m sure I was not an easy client! She had lots of ideas and questions and sometimes it was easier for me to say «no, I don’t think I’d like that» than to say «this is exactly what I want.» Despite being unable to decide, Liz was undeterred. She was eventually able to come up with a vision for my cake and showed up with a beautifully created Jem and the Hollagrams cake. I have no idea what flavor it was (again, bad with stuff like that!), but it was delicious!

I wanted to do something special for my nephew’s 2^nd birthday. He loves penguins and, knowing the Sleepy Baker, I asked if she could create a penguin birthday cake. Well boy did she deliver! The cake was incredible! Not only was in delicious, but she actually made it with a 3D penguin complete with an igloo and mini birthday cake with two candles in it — the details were insane! We couldn’t have been happier with the way it turned out! Everyone at the birthday party could not stop taking pictures of it, and the birthday boy himself loved it! He wanted to keep the penguin for himself! Thank you again to the Sleepy Baker!

I use The Sleepy Baker for all my cakes. Each cake is better than the previous one. Creating exceptional artisan cakes that taste amazing is the Sleepy Baker’s passion. She puts a ton of effort in helping her clients craft their visions for their cakes; excellent & easy going customer service, so much creativity and a pleasure to work with!

Had my mom’s 70^th birthday. We asked the sleepy baker to include all of her favorite things on the cake… A cake shaped like a slot machine!!! They even added a working lever on the side of the slot machine. All we had to do is just give them a few thoughts and their creativity did the rest. The cake was delicious and a smashing hit of the party! (and there’s the picture of it here on Unilocal!)

I have known Liz for years, so it was only fitting that after seeing her amazing cakes, I pretty much insisted that she make my birthday cake. Since we know each other pretty well, our consultation was over instant massage.
I gave her a Boston theme and a flavor (chocolate on chocolate) and let her work her magic.
The cake exceeded my expectations. It was 3 tiers chocolate with a silouette of the Boston skyline on the bottom, perfectly crafted replicas of the team logos, the CITGO sign, and a life sized Dunkin Coffee cup on the top. It completely exceeded any expectations of artistry and taste.
I can’t wait for Liz to make my next cake!!!

In case you haven’t read them, I’ll catch you up on most of my other reviews by saying I am borderline obsessed with cake, and especially wedding cake. So when planning my wedding for June of this year, cake– delicious cake, to be more specific– was a definite priority.
By the time I discovered The Sleepy Baker was in business, I had already ordered and paid for my wedding cake with another bakery. But when I saw some of The Sleepy Baker’s beautiful cakes on her Facebook page, I was convinced that we needed a cake for the rehearsal dinner too! I’m so happy my fiancé agreed :)
TLiz (the Sleepy Baker herself) did a fantastic job with our cake! Here are some highlights:
–The design: to say that Liz is super creative is an understatement. I gave her a copy of our invitation, a few pictures of myself and my fiancé, and told her all I knew I wanted was a marzipan version of us as a cake topper. In other words, I gave her almost no specific guidelines or inspirations, and she managed to make a ridiculously cute cake that nobody could stop talking about. (I’ll post a picture stat!)
–The taste: ABSOLUTELY the most important aspect of the cake, and I gave her no specific flavor guidelines outside of being different from our 3 wedding cake flavors. She recommended her «drunken» Champagne cake, and it was unbelievably good. So moist, so dense, and not sickeningly sweet. Perfect for our occasion!
–The price: I essentially told Liz what he had left of our wedding budget that could be allocated toward cake, and she made it work. I can’t guarantee a price because we never set a ‘per slice’ amount, but ours was less than $ 3 per slice. And that is practically unheard of for occasion cakes.
I did have to send someone to pick up the cake, and since she’s currently baking out of her home, I’m not sure if/​how tastings go.
