As a specialty toy store we want to provide you with toys that enable you and your children to learn and grow through play. We have puzzles, games, books, dolls, collectibles, and much more for all ages and customer service to ensure you leave with a smile.
History
Established in 1970.
The Toy Chest was started on Main Street in Nashville, Indiana displaying owner Ed Hollis’s model of the Hagenbeck-Wallace Circus. In 1988 the circus was destroyed in a fire, and The Toy Chest moved to its location in The Artist Colony Shops in Nashville. Hilary Key took over as manager and took ownership of The Toy Chest in 2014. Together with her husband, Danny and other wonderful employees, she hopes to carry on the tradition of The Toy Chest.
Meet the Business Owner
Hilary K.
Business Owner
An unlikely owner of a toy store, Hilary’s college education was not in business, but in science. However, after two years in a neuroscience Ph.D. program, Hilary decided to reroute her life in a direction that would involve kids, play, and philanthropy. These changes led her to the Brown County Toy Chest where she was able to learn the toy industry. With the help of her husband she started Giving Toys, LLC in 2013 and took ownership of The Toy a Chest in 2014. You’ll see her in the store most weekdays and some weekends eager to talk to customers and help them find the best toys for their needs. In October 2015, the Toy Chest opened a second store in the College Mall in Bloomington Indiana.
