Thai Phooket

Outstanding Thai food at a reasonable cost. Everything we ordered was mouth-​watering from the Tom Kha soup, shrimp with fried wonton and sweet chili sauce, spring rolls and more!

The pad Thai was on point, but the red curry and the rice it came with were not good. The curry was extremely sweet and the rice was dry/​undercooked.
I’ve given one star to account for it’s being overrated and having hundreds of reviews (they seem to sort of solicit reviews).

Have been eating Thai Phooket since I moved to Nashville and love all of their stir-​fry dishes. The service has been lacking the past few months, not sure why but I have to say I always leave with a happy full stomach. I am a big spice person and in the past few months I’ve noticed a decrease in the spice level and they seem to just add more or less red pepper flakes on the top of your dish according to your spice level but they are not cooked in which is a little weird. The place doesn’t look like much but the lunch specials are affordable, and they are really quick with call in orders.

Wish they had brown rice

Best thai in town? I definitely agree with that statement. I had a delicious cashew nuts with vegetables and jasmine rice. I recommend it :)

My wife had heard through friends and co-​workers that this was a great restaurant so we decided to check it out. The place is a little hidden gem! Great food and friendly service. Highly recommended!

This was a great little surprise! The Pad Thai & Rama had us on a peanut sauce blitz! The favors were much richer than the typical Thai restaurant. Definitely worth a visit. As for the 4 stars vs 5. The food rates a 4, but the wait staff was very unresponsive. I was done with my meal before I got a refill of water that I requested. Even a visit to the table to deliver my date’s drink didn’t prompt a refill of my empty glass. If they had been super busy, it would have made sense. But more than half the tables were empty.

Best phở I have ever had! Love all the grandmas making my dinner. Friendly staff and authentic menu. Vegetarian friendly.

I was not a big fan of the Thai Noodle here. It was very bland, the chicken had a funky taste to it. To make my visit here worse was the lack of service. I felt like the whole staff was catering to a group of people while the rest of the guest were left to fend for themselves. I was about ready to just walk out but I had no cash on me so instead I walked up to the cash register and waited there until I got attention. The server then asked me if I had my tab. I bit my tongue and said no. Then he had the audacity to say sorry we’re super busy! I was thinking how? the restaurant had a party of 10, plus the rest of the guest. So a total of 15. I’ve been to places where only one server was working and got better service. I give them one star for at least serving me.

Quick review: If you told me I was going to eat Thai food twice during my 4-​day visit to Nashville, I would’ve called you a fool. Joke’s on me, because that’s exactly what I did.

A strictly hunger-​based decision caused my boyfriend and I to stop in at Thai Phooket. We had just arrived to Nashville the night before and were ready for our first solid meal in the city. While walking into downtown from our Airbnb, a wonderfully odiferous smell caught us and we spotted Thai Phooket… a trailer in the parking lot across the street.
Sure! Why not.
We waited about 15 – 20 minutes for a table, but that was at the peak of the lunchtime rush. Also, I’d prefer a place to be packed as oftentimes it’s an indicator of the quality.
In our two visits, my boyfriend ordered the pad se-​ew with chicken, and I stuck with my usual green curry with tofu. They were fantastic! Very generous portions, so you’ll certainly feel satisfied. We also tried the Thai tea and Tom Kha (coconut soup), and both were winners.
Is it the cleanest, most beautifully decorated place I’ve ever eaten in? No, but to be honest that didn’t affect my dining experience one bit. Then again I was more focused on the good company and top notch meal sitting in front of me.

My husband and I love this place! We’ve had Thai food in quite a few states and cities and Thai phooket continues to impress. Their basil chicken is incredible and I am also a huge fan of their Tom yum soup with its lemon grass broth and tangy flavor! I love that they use tons of super fresh veggies in their meals and flavorful ingredients.
We eat here at least once or twice a week! :)

Thai Phooket got lots of great reviews, so I had to check it out. After trying several dishes, I believe it’s overrated.
The staff is friendly and laid back. Maybe a little too laid back at times, as sometimes we had to re-​request items, even after our bill came.
We started with the papaya salad, which was fresh and a great portion size. Next up, a vegetable soup to warm up on a cold, windy evening. For main dishes, we got pad kee mao with mixed seafood and one of the chef’s specialties, asparagus shrimp. The pad kee mao was pretty good, though the seafood left a lot to be desired — there was a lot of imitation crab in it for example. The asparagus shrimp came with the «house speciality brown sauce» which on this night seemed pretty bland. Fortunately, it had lots of asparagus to offset the lack of vegetables in the pad kee mao. We ordered both dishes «4 stars» out of 5 for spicy, and there was little to no chili in either dish. Ask for the spice tray if you like your food spicy.
All in all, you can find more authentic, flavorful, and higher quality food elsewhere.

Went to this restaurant again on Saturday around 8pm, we waited a little bit. We ordered pork red curry, pork pad Thai, and shrimp spring rolls. All our food are very delicious.

I’m a big fan of Thai food. Just as they say, «Don’t judge a book by its cover», this trailer structure near the stadium houses good food. I also appreciate they were open during a snowy evening this year when many places were closed. Expect the typical Thai selection. Items are flavorful but not heavy. I like the pad Kee Mao.

In the most unexpected area of Nashville lies this great Thai place, Thai Phooket. As per previous reviews, the Pad-​Se-​Ew with chicken seemed to be the favorite dish. Seeing the thick rice noodles with copious amount of chicken was enough for me. Now onto the in-​depth review.
Overall, the dish was flavorful, I didn’t really prefer spice or any type of flavoring added to it when asked about what to add to the dish. Upon arrival, the chicken and noodles were perfectly proportional to one another. Likewise on the side of the plate there was a bit of fresh, what seemed to be, cole slaw. Now, Thai food with a side of cole slaw seemed like too much to absorb at the moment. I had to take a minute to think about what was going on.
«Go big or go home» I repeated to myself. So, as daring as I am, I mixed the cole slaw with the noodles. No lie, best thing ever. No more bland vegetables on the side to confuse me.
Now, an orange slice. what to do???
Alright, I got this. This must be some sort of pallet cleanser. So, I waited to finish the dish and started chomping at the orange. Okay, okay, we’ve made it this far and we’ve crossed the finish line with a slice of orange. I feel accomplished.
Overall, the place is great, good service, good food. Only thing I would change is the location, but other then that, stop by when you get the chance!

This place is the definition of sub-​par.
So I’m in town to catch a Titans game (where my beloved Falcons managed to get an ugly win in the rain). Instead of immediately leaving the area, I figure I would eat at a nearby restaurant to let the traffic thin out. I was delighted to see a pretty highly rated Thai place within walking distance of the Nissan Stadium.
The exterior of the restaurant is very unassuming. Just basic white with red painted letters at the top. Bad sign was I didn’t see a single other car in the parking lot, and not another customer was there when I walked in. Two other parties eventually trickled in during my meal, but apparently it’s not a very happening place around dinner time on game day.
I was very disappointed that none of the staff members greeted us, even though 5 of them saw us. After rechecking to see if the business hours were indeed open, we seated ourselves. A few minutes later, our server finally came and brought us some menus. Nothing really out of the ordinary, but a pretty dated and non-​cohesive menu. I love peanut sauce, as I typically get the chicken satay appetizer. This time I just wanted a small entrée before heading back out on a long drive. I picked Rama, a noodle dish with peanut sauce and meat choice– I picked pork. Most of their entrees had the option of picking your own meat. My girlfriend got a Pad Thai to be safe. I also ordered a Thai Coffee, which the server forgot and didn’t bring to me until half way into my meal. The drink itself was just odd tasting. It wanted to be robust and flavorful, but it just came off bitter, and somehow a strange sweetness also accompanied it. As for my dish, it was WAY oversauced with peanut sauce. There wasn’t really anything impressive on the plate. The pork was bland, the noodles were bland, and the sauce had zero finesse to it– just very heavy. I could not finish even half of the plate. And my girlfriend wasn’t a fan of her dish either. For dishes that ranged in the $ 10-​$ 15, I was very disappointed with the quality of the food.
After bringing the entrée and my coffee later on, the server didn’t come check on us any other time. I’m ok with the fact that he wasn’t the most upbeat or bubbly person, but basically neglecting us when there was only two other parties in the restaurant is unacceptable.
I saw that Thai Phooket had won «Best Thai» in 2014. I have to ask, who was the competition? IS THERE any other Thai place in Nashville? I’m never going back to this place, and I hope none of you do either. I’m willing to walk an extra mile in the rain just to to avoid this place in the future.

So this is what happened, take it for what it is. We ordered some take out food from Thai Phooket one night for dinner. We ordered some pad thai with chicken, red curry, and the special appetizer combo which includes satay chicken, steamed dumpling and egg rolls. We used the service Favor, which is a new service in Nashville that is a courier service to bring you food. The restaurant charged a 15% charge for the Favor person to pick up the food, so a 5 dollar charge for our food order. Not cool.
Moving onto the food. I don’t know if it was because it was to go, but the vegetables in the red curry were VERY mushy. The green beans and broccoli were so mushy that a person with no teeth wouldn’t have a problem gumming it down. The flavor for the curry was okay, I’ve had better. The pad thai was dry and flavorless. The chicken in the pad thai wasn’t that great either. The egg rolls were okay in the appetizer deal. Both of the dumplings I ate had some kind of chewy, gristle pieces in it. The chicken satay was good, but the ends had chewy parts on them. Overall I was pretty disappointed with the whole meal. I won’t give 1 star because it was a to go order and I think a lot of things taste better in the restaurant than to go, but I don’t at all care for the service charge for using a courier service to pick up the food.

I will still continue to eat at Thai Phooket but I prefer the other location. The last 2 times I’ve ordered the curry at the downtown location, it is like water and lacks flavor because of that. The dishes are never as spicy as I ask for. I’ve bumped up to a level 3 and it is still not remotely spicy. I absolutely love the Phooket salad but this time around, the lettuce was kind of wilted, the tomatoes looked mushy so I didn’t even try them, and the green peppers had dark spots so I picked off half of them. Really disappointed because with tip, I spent $ 19 on half a salad and watery, spiceless curry.

Def hole in the wall dive in the middle of downtown. Service was pretty good food was also pretty good I felt like it was just a soils 4 star good but not quite amazing. Good selection we tried app sampler panang curry red curry and drunken noodles all where just a solid 4 stars.

REDACT REDACT REDACT! I’ve been a faithful fan and customer of Thai Phooket for the past 5 years! And honestly, if these Unilocal reviews were not so good, if the restaurant hadn’t done so well because of its location in the city, social media in the food community… But I digress.
I WILL NEVER COME BACK TO THIS ESTABLISHMENT AGAIN. The more popular and busy this restaurant has gotten THE WORSE THE SERVICE IS! And today was the cherry on top. Over the past two years I’ve seen the customer service drop dramatically because of all the residual business but today, was the worst. Even the phone conversation with the young waitress was rushed, rude and abrupt, I understand you’re busy but do you even like people? I was not even greeted at the door or the counter to pick up the take out. The young waitress had blond highlights, glasses and told had a bright pink t shirt on. She didn’t even make eye contact with me, she told me to wait there, and then proceeded to check her text messages I contact about three minutes later and asked me if I was ready. You would think because of such good reviews they would want to grow and maintain this business but they’ve lost me.
You are not the only show in town and thankfully not all Thai restaurants are created equal. Let it be known that for all you know I could be someone that lived down the street and gave your restaurant 300 – 500 $ a quarter or that I drove all the way from Louisville to taste this Thai food. Either way — Someone else will benefit from your mistakes and i will take my recommendations that I’ve been passing out for your restaurant over the past couple years with me to another establishment that understands the hard work put into paying $ 40 for take out.
