Business Owner

With 15 years of professional experience, and a lifetime of sewing experience, Suite M Sewing is the manifestation of Birdy’s dream of owning a sewing shop. She has worked at several alteration shops all over the country, acquiring the nickname, «The Denim Doctor» by mastering the art of repairing every pair of jeans that came through the door. She also apprenticed under master seamstress Carole Bruns in her couture sewing shop in Minneapolis, MN for over 3 years. Birdy opened her first online business in 2003, designing, sewing, and selling one of a kind patchwork and appliqué dresses. This business thrived until October, 2014, when she decided to pursue her first brick and mortar sewing shop in July, 2015 — Suite M Sewing & Alterations. She loves the art of sewing and strives to share her gift by helping everyone find the perfect fit.

Birdie did such a great job on my wedding gown! I was hesitant to go somewhere I’d never been before for such an important occasion, but it ended up being the perfect place! She removed some terrible tulle, adjusted my straps, added a belt, and hemmed my gown. IT IS BEAUTIFUL and was very affordable! I will forever go back for any alterations I need done.

Suite M Sewing & Alterations is a great place! Birdie is so sweet and helpful and did a wonderful job on 2 bridesmaid dresses that I brought in to be altered and hemmed. I have 3 more dresses for her to hem for me and it feels good knowing that she will do a great job beforehand. Suite M Sewing & Alterations… a great place on a little hill.

My daughter needed her princess prom dress altered. After looking on the internet, I decided to check Unilocal for some recommendations. That’s where I discovered this little shop. Thought I would give them a try and so glad I did!
The dress had some interesting details that proved to be abit of a challenge and took longer than she thought, but she did it and the dress turned out beautifully. Birdie is very friendly and you can tell she loves what she does. Keep up the good work ladies!

What a wonderful little gem of an alterations shop in the Madison area! Birdy and Megan are gifted seamstresses with many years’ experience between them. Their shop is cozy, well-​appointed and efficient, and they are willing to go the extra mile to get their work done expertly and quickly– and with very reasonable prices. Highly recommended!
