At Periodontal & Implant Associates of Middle Tennessee, everything thing we do is for our patients. From our office in the Green Hills area, we provide compassionate, patient-​centered periodontal care to Nashville and surrounding areas. Dr. Robert Pulliam and his experienced staff are here to help you keep your gums healthy and your smile beautiful.

Business Owner

Robert Pulliam, DMD, MS, RPh, was a hospital pharmacist before earning his D.M.D. degree, and has served the Nashville area as a periodontist for more than 10 years. He is a diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology and has received awards in periodontal research and operative dentistry. His skill and experience allow him to provide continuing education in periodontics and implant dentistry to other doctors.

Robert Pulliam, DMD, MS, RPh, completed undergraduate work at the University of Mississippi School of Pharmacy. He worked as a hospital pharmacist in Tuscaloosa, Alabama before earning a DMD from the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Dentistry. He earned a certificate and MS in Periodontics at The University of Texas Health Science Center San Antonio. He is a diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology.

Dr. Pulliam and his entire staff are exceptionally skilled, professional, and warm. The doctor and Julie thoroughly explained an upcoming procedure scheduled for me using pictures, models, and the actual material that would be placed in my surgical site. Therefore, I had no qualms when my surgery was performed yesterday. Dr. Pulliam has resolved problems with a tooth that had SIX previous procedures (by other specialists). I’ll never go anywhere else. FYI: This office does not overbook so wait times are minimal. Thank you Dr. Pulliam!

Had dental surgery with Dr. Pulliam.
He does not have great chair side skills.
If he should talk down to you, have thick skin.
He shouldn’t, but he does.
I’d say ignore it and chalk it up to bad chair side manners.
Also BEWARE: before you leave, they hand you a goodie bag and in it is a $ 15 bottle of mouthwash. They do not ask you if you want it, they sneak it in the bag and you are charged $ 15 for it. You can do better with warm salty water!!!
Be sure to look in the bag and hand them back the mouthwash. Don’t get bamboozled — that you need it. Warm salty water is better for you and has no blue dye #1!!!
Other than that, I’m ok with his surgeries. I just wish he had a better attitude towards those that are paying him.

I am very pleased to have found such a wonderful periodontist. Dr. Pulliam performed a gum graft surgery on me, and I have done really well with the recovery. I had this procedure done once many years ago in California, and unfortunately my gums continued to recede. Dr. Pulliam explained that there are two types of gum grafts, a prettier version, and then the «functional» kind that is less attractive but longer lasting. I opted for the longer lasting. It has only been 10 days since my surgery, and already my gums look pretty and healthy. He is very friendly, and explains everything to you carefully. His staff is fabulous, they made me feel comfortable and cared for without feeling anxious about the surgery. I am healing so quickly, I think it has everything to do with the wonderful and precise work that Dr. Pulliam does. I recommend him highly.

Do I enjoy going to Dr. Pulliam’s office? No.
Does anyone enjoy going to a periodontist? I don’t think so.
I have bad teeth, always have.
I don’t like to floss, and that coupled with the fact that I had chickenpox and just the wrong age to run a high fever, bad news. I have teeth that have pits, some didn’t form correctly, and let ‘s just say there’s a lot of bonding in my mouth so that if you didn’t read this review, you’d never know any of this.
At this dental practice, once you get over the jokes about a dentist whose very name is «Pull– ‘em» basically, they don’t mess around. I get cleanings every three months, once from here and then from my regular dentist. If you haven’t held up your part of the bargain — they fuss at you. Like, really fuss at you. Tell you if you don’t do better that you might as well go meet the dentist at Starbucks for coffee rather than waste his time. So if your skin can’t handle that, then you better head somewhere else, and I almost did awhile back.
But now I’ve gotten into a better groove with them, and have discovered that if you opt for the gas to be used during your regular cleaning*, then you can almost look forward to visits.
* OK, don’t judge me here. A periodontist’s cleaning is much more thorough than a regular dentist. They go deeper, scrape harder, etc. — and like I said, they don’t mess around. On one of my first visits, the hygenist asked me if I needed the gas for a cleaning and I scoofed and laughed about it, but last week we’ll just say I had my chart edited for such.
Dr. Pulliam’s office is in a multi-​tennant office in Green Hills where I think every other office in there is also dental. It’s Green Hills, so it’s not convenient other than you can take back roads really far down and pop out near Burton Hills and at least not endure the blue hair drivers.
What I will say about this practice over most other dental practices I’ve been in is their cars are awesome — almost like a Tempurpedic covering on the dental chairs. That combined with the «margarita gas,» as I like to call it — and I’m A-​OK, thanks!
