A unique interpretation of the Banh Mi by using sweet BBQ shredded roasted pork rather than your traditional Vietnamese meats. They used a different toasted bread than your traditional French baguette. I would have preferred more heat on my sandwich and added Sriracha. Pickled veggies, cilantro, and mayo sauce added to the overall delicious taste. Not too bad. If you’re looking for an authentic banh mi, you will need to go elsewhere. The ambience is a modern and fun with a working juke box.

Today was our first visit to Mitchell’s delicatessen. We ordered a Mitchell’s club, a Grilled Chicken Portabella, a Reuben, and a Turkey Avocado. All four sandwiches were on different breads, but all were delicious. The meat was tasty and generous, the veggies were fresh, and the service was friendly. We are already planning another meal here! Can’t wait to eat through the menu!

The sandwiches are amazing. I’ve been hooked on the Chicken Portabello for the past 6 months and have not even tried anything else because it is sooooo good! The parking is a bit of a headache though if you are looking to pick up an order quickly. Only like 7 spots in the parking lot… But as far as the food goes, you will not be disappointed!

Really solid vegan options, and the staff is always nice! My wife and I usually get the Asian Tofu Sandwich, which is very flavorful and well made. The only reason I didn’t give a 5 star rating, is because they tend to be inconsistent with their methods of cooking the tofu. Arguably, the way that tofu is cooked and prepared is the difference between it being super tasty, or just plain weird, and there have been a few time where the tofu was undercooked and under-marinated. If they could get their preparation operations smoothed-out a little, it would certainly be one of the best vegan options in Nashville!

People love this place. I just don’t. I have yet to have a sandwich that is good to great, and I have tried many on the menu. The bread is good, but the meat is underwhelming/flavorless. The ratio of bread to meat is off. Also, all of the pressed sandwiches get REALLY greasy. On my last trip, I ordered a bagel sandwich with lox, and when I got up to the counter, they were out of bagels. I wish that they would put a sign on the bagel menu when they were out so I could prepare my order a bit better. I had a half brownie this past time, and it was very good(and reasonably sized) so that’s a plus.

Mitchell’s Deli is one of the Top 21 Sandwich Shops in America(Thrillist). It’s also been featured on the Travel Channel in Adam Richman’s Best Sandwich episode. Known for the Turkey Avocado sandwich, as well as the Bahn Mi sandwich… I suggest you get both with a side of their potato salad which has Benton’s bacon in it. It’s to die for. Their breakfast bar is also legit. Wide selection of beer on tap and all kinds of «earth-woman» beverages.(Earth-woman = organic, good for you, etc.) Also has sick porch where you can sit and eat with dog by your side. Great location, service, design, food and drink. Go here and don’t worry about looking like a princess because nobody cares… My favorite Sunday brunch spot in town!

Just love Nashville and all the outdoor seating. It was a little rainy, but the overhang provided a nice spot to enjoy eating Al Fresco. Friendly counter service. Food was okay, I would order something else next time. Will return.

Great place for sandwiches and some local beer. Especially when the weather is good! Quick, well thought out menu, and when the weather is nice, props is awesome. I’ll be back, often.

This is my second trip and this place is very good. I had the Italian the first time and it was excellent. Thus time I went with the very popular Asian flank steak. Also very good. Lunch time is hectic here so come early or late.

I went to Mitchell for the first time today and it exceeded my expectations. The french dip was the perfect size and it was obvious that all of the ingredients were very high quality. The bread was especially delicious. It wasn’t the most flavorful french dip I’ve ever had but it tasted very fresh and I would order it again. It took a while to get my food, even though it wasn’t extremely busy. It wasn’t a big deal but I wouldn’t recommend Mitchell if you’re in a rush. I hadn’t been expecting much in terms of atmosphere so I was pleasantly surprised by how nice both the indoor and outdoor seating areas were. My favorite thing about this place is their soda fountain. They’re the only place that I know of in Nashville with Sprecher soda on tap. Sprecher is a gourmet soda company from Milwaukee and it’s some of the best soda you’ll ever have. Try the cream soda and root beer.

Fresh and delicious. Worth a try, if you are in the area. The reviews for this place are a little hyped up, but the sandwiches are good. Rated as a local neighborhood spot in a smaller town, I would understand what all the raving was about .but this is NASHVILLE!

Fantastic, original sandwiches, a great atmosphere, and friendly faces! The Spreckter Tap had some tasty, novel soft drinks. at no cost. I think. The juke box kicked the Sissy Stut and tons of classic grooves. The Inglewood area is something I’m very excited to re-visit!

Went there twice. The first time was just to try it. Went back and tried different items the second time. It was great. I really like the fact they toast the bread. So far we have tried 4 different items and all have been outstanding. The Asian Flank Steak was excellent, as was the Bhan Mi, the Italian and the Rueben. The bread is great. The hoagie-style rolls are the best. The sandwiches on regular bread are good, because the meat they use is excellent. For the price it is excellent. They also sell bread, eggs, sausages, etc. which are good and reasonably priced. On balance, it is a great sandwich shop. It sells draft beer, which is a nice touch. It also has a spacious dining room and outside area with decent parking across the street. Staff is nice and friendly and even when they are busy. It is the kind of place, I will become a regular.

I’ll going four stars because everything was high quality and fresh. Everything sorta lacked flavor though. I liked the Asian sandwich but it was not a knockout. Bread was good. French dip was good but unremarkable. Had to go back to ask for au jus. The Tipped 20% but still had to pick up my food and bus my own table. The Mediterranean salad was pretty good. I’ve really almost talked myself into three stars. Oh well. I would come back just kinda didn’t live up to how good the pics look.

Was looking for a good sandwich for lunch and found this place was highly recommended. Did not disappoint! I had the Italian which was VERY good. The bread is freshly made, complete with prosciutto, mortadella, Swiss cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion and just the right amount of oil and vinegar. I also tried the roast beef sandwich. Not as good, it was a little salty for my taste but I’m not a huge roast beef fan. It does come with a side of warm au jus sauce though! The atmosphere is a little hipster, and they do have an outdoor patio to enjoy.

Look out Subway! Haha it’s not even a fair comparison. Mitchell’s offers high quality fare at a great price. For the price of a meal at Subway I had high quality sub and water with my choice of lime, lemon, or orange wedge. What a deal. Grilled Chicken and Mushrooms 4 of 5. Cheap sandwich at $ 6.79. Thick and hearty without being rich. A healthy and filling option, I really enjoyed it. It is somewhat bland I would think for most but it’s exactly what I was looking for. Turkey Apple Brie 4 of 5. Flavorful brie and perfectly balanced amount of ingredients. No one flavor overpowers the others, unless you don’t like Brie. Then it just sticks out in your mouth. Lamb Vegetable soup. Ours had a piece of hair in it. Upon notifying the staff they quickly refunded our money and took the step of removing the soup from the self serve station. Though it was gross, everyone makes mistakes, it’s just how you handle it that makes it stand out. How they handled it reassured me that they take food handling and their business seriously. Can’t expect any more than that.

Had the best sandwich of my life here — the Asian Bahn Mi. Do it. I dream of the day I can return to Nashville to get another one. That’s it. I literally remember nothing else but this amazing sandwich.

Yup. It’s a must. If you live in Nashville and are a fan of food, you’ve sorta gotta find yourself to this stretch of Riverside and get a sandwich in your belly. I don’t know why or how I waited so long to join the club. I came here on a Thursday evening after a grueling leg workout and I wanted to go to town and order everything in sight. I was with my lifting partner for the evening, however, you I didn’t have that much wiggle room in ordering all the comforting fatty food which usually holds me at night. I was allowed to get a Mitchell classic: the turkey avocado & bacon. I don’t know what makes this sandwich so good. It’s as straight-forward as it sounds: turkey, avocado, bacon, cheddar, sprouts, and tomato(I ordered mine without mayo aka the devil’s condiment). Put it all on toasted wheat and you’ve got yourself a sandwich… a delicious, comforting, warm cheese melting into sliced turkey with cool tomato adding depth that’s finished off by the texture of the sprouts and the creaminess of the avocado sandwich. I just made myself hungry. I wanted to get some variant of potato salad with my sandwich, but I was already pushing it with cheats so I ‘settled’ for the fruit salad. It was fresh. It was good-sized. It had some ingredients that made me scratch my head a bit(berries during the middle of winter) but I, happily, scarfed it down… as dessert. I had potato chips(at home) with my sandwich. What can I say? I’m weak.

A couple estate sales brought us over to east Nashville on a Saturday around noon. We were in the area & decided to try Mitchell’s. We parked in the gravel lot across the street as the small parking lot in front of the delicatessen was full. The building looks fairly new, & from reading some of the other reviews it looks like they built a bigger place due to the popularity. We entered & noticed a LONG line. It was a few feet away from the door. The line moved pretty quickly as there was two girls taking orders. The menu is basically a bunch of different sandwiches. They range in price from around $ 6-$ 9. Not bad. They’ve got chips along the area you wait in line & a large selection of different beers on tap. Those were $ 4-$ 7 bucks depending on type & size. It looks like they’ve got some kind of breakfast buffet, but we arrive around noon & I think they were closing it down maybe because it had a lot of aluminum foil on it. They’ve also got a salad bar. I skimmed the menu & decided on the chicken Portobello sandwich, Phillip picked the Asian flank steak sandwich. The girl that took my order had no personality whatsoever. Or at least I didn’t see it because she only spoke when she told me the total. If you use a credit/debit card, their system prints out a copy for you to fill out with tip & total, annoying. You can put a tip jar out if you want, but it’s getting annoying that people feel they need a tip when they just show up to work. Anyway, the customer service aspect wasn’t great at the counter, except for the guy calling out names for people to come get their sandwiches, he was nice enough. The sandwiches are hefty. Mine was only $ 6.50, so o wasn’t expecting a big sandwich. They’re wrapped in parchment paper, which keeps all the juices in. I’m so happy they’ve got a pop up napkin dispenser on each table because both our sandwiches were a little messy. Everything on the sandwich tasted fresh, from the chicken to the mushrooms & tomatoes. I really enjoyed that. I did however think that the mushrooms needed a little something more; maybe cooked with a little balsamic or something. Same goes for the chicken, I’d like it to have a little seasoning. Everything had a nice basic flavor, I was just wanting a little more to the sandwich. They’ve got a couple of bottles of hot sauce/sriracha that helped. Overall I enjoyed the sandwiches here. Next time I’m in the area I’ll probably call in my order to pick up to avoid the line & the people that hover over your table to get it from you once you leave.
