The shoe styles are nice, but my pair started falling apart in less than a year. When I took them back to the store to see what they recommend to do to get them repaired I was treated terribly. I will not be returning to this store or purchasing anymore Johnston Murphy shoes.

I have been a Johnston & Murphy shoe customer for 22 years. Throughout the first 75% of that period, I was entirely impressed by and happy with Johnston & Murphy shoes. In the past 4 – 5 years I have noticed a significant reduction in manufacturing quality and design. Specifically, today I was wearing a pair of dress shoes which are less than a year old. While standing up from a business lunch, the lower layer of my right heal sheared off. See the pictures attached. The leather on the bottom and top of the shoes show very little wear, yet the sole of the right shoe disintegrated. Inspecting the shoes further, I noticed that that pair had been manufactured in China. Two years ago another pair of Johnston & Murphy had the same thing happen. I was walking to my flight and all of a sudden I slipped and almost fell on my back. I looked down and one of my heals had fallen off. Had to get that one fixed during my business trip, but assumed that that was an unusual one off event. Given the poor construction quality of the modern Johnston & Murphy shoe, I will be switching brands for business wear. It’s a shame to see such a great brand degrade like this.

Seriously? This place is the Factory Store for some of the finest shoes designed and made in America, but don’t tell them it’s an outlet. We don’t need to ruin a good thing! Don’t expect anything less than top class customer service despite the hefty savings of 20−80% less money than you would pay at the retail stores. I was given a gift card to Johnston & Murphy. This was news to my ears because I had already picked out a pair of chukkas in their retail store at Cool Springs. I was hoping they would go on sale after Christmas in several months. I also hoped to get a pair of really nice dress shoes with a leather sole(these are insanely expensive). I didn’t have to wait for a sale… it’s a sale every day at the factory store! As soon as I walked in, I was greeted by several employees. The store had only been opened a few minutes and they were busy stocking, straightening, and getting ready for the day. Jeffrey Etherly was kind enough to explain how the shoes were organized and how every shoe was reduced from the retail price. I walked around a few minutes checking out the place. I found a shoe that interested me. Jeffrey offered to size my foot up, and proceeded to sit down and lace up the shoes, make friendly chat, helped me get the shoes on, checked the sizing, had me walk around and such. Really? I am getting 5 star service at an outlet? I purchased a great pair of dress shoes at 47.27% less than retail. I like this place. The kicker? The chukkas I wanted… they weren’t on the floor. Dang. I asked about them… he walks through a back door and returns with«my chukkas» and gets them on my feet. Really? Get this, they were 25.94% cheaper than buying at the retail store. I won’t wait 10 years again to buy shoes. With the savings on the shoes and the incredible service by Jeffrey… I’ve been a few times already. I can’t wait to go back!

If you love Johnston & Murphy then you should check them out. The selection for women leaves a little to be desired and they definitely tailor to the men in the Factory store but they do have great deals on shoes and if you find a pair you love; the savings is totally worth it. The staff is friendly, the store is neat and clean.

proper man shit here, boys. i absolutely love this place. i’m 32 these days, and find myself almost the polar opposite of who i was as a younger man and distancing myself further with each passing day. i used to hate the idea of dressing nice and shoes that didn’t have a shell on the toes. it didn’t help that i was a raver, too, lol. this brings me to today, and my love for johnston and murphy. you won’t find anything super flashy here, and that’s right up my alley. everything i’ve bought from this store simply reeks of quality and lends an air of confidence that is solely found in articles made to be bought only once, made to last. i have four pairs of shoes from this store, one of which is my second favorite pairs of shoes of all time, a pair of brown saddle shoes that i just can’t think of the name of. the retail on these was 150, but i picked them up at the outlet for 90 dollars. an absolute steal! i’ve also purchased a bag from there and a belt. the service is great, too. i’m greeted when i walk in and am not hounded while i’m in the store. great experience here. i can’t wait until i can start buying more stuff from this store, i love their products! eric b
