Jeffrey graduted with honors from the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA, and has taught drumset and percussion for the past 15 years. Jeff is proud to say that many of his students have gone on to study at some of the top drumset programs in the country (Berklee, North Texas, USC).

Jeffrey Lien teaches in Chicago and the North Shore area at your home or rehearsal space… Monday — Wednesday for 30 min/​60 minute lessons. New openings now available and as always… First Lesson Free!

History

Established in 1995.

Jeffrey Lien Drum Studio was established in 1995 in Gillette, Wyoming, where a then, 15 year old Jeffrey Lien, took on his first student.

«My natural environment is the teaching studio, almost more than the performance stage, and at an early age I decided I wanted to teach drums and percussion to my fellow classmates. I started to take private students from the middle school and high school where I was a student and helped to prepare them for auditions into the jazz band, percussion ensemble, and All-​State Band’s. In doing this, I learned a very valuable lesson. Not only was I able to help these students to achieve greater musicianship, but I too was becoming a better musician/​teacher because of them! I fell in love with this rewarding concept, and 15 years later, I’ve never stopped teaching!»

Jeffrey Lien holds a Bachelor’s degree from the Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA, where he graduated with honors in Drumset Performance. While at Berklee, Jeffrey studied with legendary teachers John Ramsay, Bob Kaufman, Walter Beasley, Skip Hadden, Steve Rochinski, Steve Wilkes, and Ed Saindon, who’s methods helped to shape not only his playing, but also his approach to teaching.

Perhaps the best part of studying at Jeffrey Lien Drum Studio, aside from the personal attention and the know-​how to get you where you are going, is that you are studying with an active professional drummer, not a hobbyist. Jeffrey Lien has been performing throughout the United States and Europe for the past 20 years, and continues to maintain a very active schedule today. Jeffrey has shared the stage with such popular artists as Walter Beasley, Hiromi, Nir Felder, Esperanza Spaulding, and Rich Price among many others throughout Boston, NYC, and Chicago.
