No Longer Smoke Free, No more Dollar Beer In a masterstroke of marketing genius, Dooley’s management has abolished the only two compelling reasons for heading to Dooley’s — — cheap beer and a smoke free environment. They do have a cool Dooley’s bus parked there now; maybe to bus in some less discriminating patrons from Detroit…

I really wish I had come here on a Friday or Saturday because it looked like a place where I could have a really good time. Unfortunately, I arrived late on a Sunday night and the place was pretty much empty. Dooley’s looked like a casual sports bar that had plenty of room for a DJ and dancing. It was split into several rooms, so if you wanted to find a quiet nook to talk, you probably could. They even had some pool tables. We only stayed for one drink, which was strong enough and a reasonable price. Both of the gentlemen I was with could have stayed longer, not because they liked the bar so much, but because they thought the bartender was seriously hot… Unfortunately I made them push on to the next bar on our pub crawl. Don’t know the bartenders name but she was dark haired and tall… Next time I am in Nashville, I intend to try out Dooley’s again!

Neat bar. The entrance betrays it’s huge interior. I stayed at the bar but definitely noticed a huge middle area with tables and then a large area after that with pooltables and more booths. It was not that busy but I assume that is because it was Sunday and apparently Tennessean’s don’t drink on that day.(Ohhh I just called you all out, ha ha.) The bartender was only mildly friendly, probably due to the lack of patrons, but you never get a second chance to make a first impression. The music was pretty good and loud and had there been more people around, I would think that there would have been a small dance floor in the center area. I thought the stone fireplace was neat too. I hope they can pack this place with people. Reading over some of the reviews mention the place being dead. Not sure why, but hope they can rectify that problem. I hate to see places close.

I went to lunch with my mom on a Friday. There was a threesome behind us and a family in the pool table room, but otherwise, it was pretty empty. I can see what is attractive about this place… they have a lot of beer choices, a few large TV’s playing sports games, cool booths and high tables to sit at, and a pool table room. Totally a Friday night hangout or a place to enjoy during a sports game. Anyway, we went there for the food. I got a Philly cheesestake with fries and my mom had chicken wings with sweet potato fries. First of all, as a person who is from Philly, I have to say, that is not how you make a philly cheesestake! Disgraceful! It was so dry, and all they did was put 3 or 4 slices of roast beef with 2 slices of provolone on a bread roll. Ack! I’ll admit the freshly, hand cut french fries were pretty good. Reminds me of the Jersey shore boardwalk fries, which are always tasty! And my mom got chicken wings which were literally dripping with grease! Yes, they were yummy, but after 4 or 5 of them, my stomach was curling. And the sweet potato fries were smothered in cinnamon and they were too sweet. I wish they used plates instead of baskets with sheet paper. This place is way too expensive to be that casual. Also, I think the cooks could stand to update their recipes. Really, this place is more of a bar than anything… As for the service, it was mediocre. The food was served after about 15 – 20 minutes which was fine but the waitress was really slow to come back with refills, she made a mistake on the flavor of the chicken wings(after having made the recommendation), and when we went to the register to pay, she gave us the wrong amount of change by a few dollars. Bottom line: fun hangout with lots of beer choices, but bad food and bad service. I give it 2 stars because I will probably not try this again.

In December of 2011, I purchased two dinner certificates for Dooley’s Tavern thru . My parents and I used one on a VERYDEAD night at Dooley’s and I gave the other one to my son and his girlfriend as a small gift of dinner! Tonight they went down to Dooley’s to use their dinner certificate and were REFUSEDENTRY because my son isnt 21. Now I understand you must be 21 to enter a bar, but Dooley’s seems to be representing themselves on as a place for«Casual Family Dining every day of the week»(a direct quote from the Highlights section of the Dooley’s tavern page). Refusing a 20 year old does not sound like a Casual Family Dining establishment! I never would have purchased a dinner certificate for my son knowing he’d be told he couldn’t enter! They have mis-represented themselves and I’m a bit pissed off. I bought these certificates having never gone to Dooley’s tavern and solely going off of the description of the«restaurant». There is absolutely NOMENTION on the Dooley’s tavern page that if you are under 21 years of age you might as well forget entering! VERYBAD!!! Something needs to be done-they should not be allowed to mis-represent themselves!

I have been to this place several times. The owners certainly cater to the customers from the North. One of the times that I was there every television was set to the Detroit Tigers game. There wasn’t even Sports Center showing. I thought that was very odd since we are in Tennessee. One thing that I enjoy is the happy hour specials on the drafts. Not many places in Nashville have the $ 1 beer. It would be nice if they offered happy hour specials on the food. I will have to go back again to try the entrees.

I am from Detroit. This place is owned by the same people who own the Dooley’s in Metro Detroit. They bought and run the place to make it Detroit themed bar. It’s a risk, but it is their prerogative to do
I was very happy to watch Monday Night Football there, and happy to see that they had the Tiger game on as well(not happy with the end of the game). Sitting in the bar, I met several people who hail from the Detroit area, and we were all amped to watch the Lions game. There was a group of people watching the Cardinals v. Brewers game, so it’s not like they shut out other people who want to watch other games. The owner, Mike, was very approachable, and talked to me for awhile. They were running a $ 1 draft special during the game — and that is always nice. The bartenders were attentive, and nearly had a beer waiting for me once the other was empty. I ordered some wings as the night went on, and they were about what you could expect in a bar. Someone else near me ordered some pizza, and it looked great. Now, trying to be impartial, it would be annoying if I walked in to watch sports and only have Michigan/Detroit sports on. But, as others have stated, there are other bars to go to. If you are from Detroit, or a Michigan/Detroit sports team fan, this is the spot for you. The only thing that was missing was some National Coney Island hot dogs being served.
