Specialties

We specialize in inquiry-​based education using a hands-​on, experiential education model for children in grades pre-​k-​6. Core curriculum areas are integrated with environmental science, humane education, collaboration, critical thinking skills, communication skills, organic farming, and service learning. Math, science, history and geography are all highly valued. Literature based reading and writing skills are taught in conjunction with science and history themes.

We are located on a 22 acre sustainable campus with a working farm used to engage children in hands-​on experiential learning. Our campus abuts 350 acres if conservation land utilized for nature studies, pond ecology, forest ecology, geology, and american history. Our school buildings are healthy, high performance, green structures and we received the first LEED Platinum certificate for a non-​residential building in NH. We were also recipients of the Business NH Magazine’s 2011 Green Building of the Year Award.

2^nd Nature Academy is part of The Nature of Things. LLC, an educational service business that specializes in high quality programs for children of all ages. We have grown from a small preschool in 1997. Today our programs include Nature’s Pathways Early Learning, 2^nd Nature Academy Elementary School, Camp Lovewell ACA accredited summer camp, and Nature’s Adventure’s after school and school group programs. We also offer horseback riding lessons. In 2005 we purchased the Gregg family property in Nashua and Dunstable and began construction on a sustainable campus that now boasts a working farm with over 60 animals, a riding ring, two healthy, high-​performance green school buildings, historic barn, low-​ropes course, salt water swimming pool, pastures, fields, forest, bogs and ponds.
