Most authentic Mexican restaurant in the area! Get here early or visit during non peak hours because this place is ALWAYS packed and there’s always a long wait. Luckily for us, we scored seats at the bar so we were able to munch on the delicious house chips and salsa and ordered some Sol beer while we waited for for our table(75 mins) The questo fondito is absolutely delicious! It’s a cheesy white dip with ground chorizo, it was so good, we got two. The guac is just OK. The menu is quite lengthy and its hard to decided what to order. Luckily there are combination plates with one of everything or you can also opt for a la carte and build your own Mexican platter. The fried chicken burrito was delicious and the beef tamale was the best I’ve ever had. Parking is tough during peak hours(as you cannot park in the Wendy’s lot). Prices are really reasonable. The restaurant is so busy that it can get kinda loud so if you are looking for a quiet romantic date night, this probably won’t be your best bet. I totally recommend this to friends, couples, families of all ages and business meals.

Love coming here for lunch during the week. Food is incredible. Reminds me of the yummy mexican back down south in FL. I always go for the taco salad with ground beef. I then throw on some of their red hot sauce(its in the little bottles) and it is a party in mouth. Service is quick and prices are great. What’s not to love!

I cannot say enough good things about this place, I go any chance I can. The food is amazing and well priced, the atmosphere is great, and it’s always worth the wait. My only complaint and the reason I don’t give it five stars is the parking situation, it’s located in the middle of a small strip mall and parking is very limited. If you go on a weekend night you will mostly likely find yourself circling back and forth fighting to find a spot. Even that does not stop me from eating here!

Hit this place up for lunch and was not wowed. I guess we came in 40 min prior to lunch being over, which must have been why the food was eh and the service was meh. Then you pay for eh and meh and never want to go back. Sigh!

I’m not sure if I should feel bad writing this review but I do want to share my experience and this is honest feedback. My husband & i were shopping in the area and decided to try out La Carreta, thanks to the incredible reviews on Unilocal. We ordered the shredded chicken nachos & fish fajitas and for beverage, i got a sangria and my husband a margarita. Here’s the breakdown. Nachos — the chicken was very well-seasoned and tasted good — was the only thing that was good about the dish. The Guac had something mixed in it– tasted weird. The app as a whole was meh. We have had better ones. The serving size was surprisingly small for the price. On a side note, the fresh nacho chips were great but the salsa definitely had a liberal dollop(or more) of Heinz ketchup. Very disappointing for a Mexican restaurant that is supposedly authentic? Fish fajitas — the fish was clearly frozen and tasted stale and unseasoned. It was also dry. We barely touched it. The roasted vegetables were great. I was also equally disappointed with the store-bought tortillas. The smell reminded me of the grocery store — and I’m not exaggerating. Sangria — I may not be a wine connoisseur but I can confidently sat that i have experimented with many different kinds, both expensive and inexpensive. This sangria was clearly made with bad wine. I mean it was BAD period. Margarita — My husband liked it and his first response was that he’s had better. He didn’t finish it either. And I can’t end my review without a word on our waitress. I guess someone was having a bad bad day and I’ll leave it at that. One with the dark square glasses. The men who served the food were more casual and friendly– I wish I had asked for their names. In short, I guess we will stick to our usual Mexican and Tex-Mex joints even if that means going out of or way. I did miss El potro & Border café and, and. Oh well!

Love love love this place! Best margaritas in the Nashua area. The atmosphere is great not to mention the food is delicious. I will warn that it gets SWAMPED in the weekends to be prepared to wait. But in my opinion it’s worth it. A++++

Fast service, cold draft beers, nice menu descriptive for the novice. Food was very good. Have to say it was very MILD. Is the first thought. The seasoning is it appears ramped down. Need to being back some more Latin flare and heat. But was clean plates. I would go here again.

For me, La Carreta ended my Mexican food drought in the Merrimack valley. I moved here 20 years ago with significant authentic Mexican food experience and could not believe the state of Mexican food in the Boston area in 1996. I tried everything the yellow pages could dish up(remember this is 1996 and Unilocal did not exist). La Careta opened in approximately 1998 and changed all that. No longer hitting chi chis like places any longer!!! There are several authentic dishes on the menu and the margaritas are awesome. The downside, the service is super speedy and un-authentic. Most Mexican restaurants in California for example are places you can linger and enjoy a 2nd margarita. Difficult here. Nonetheless they’ve built a great business and one I often return too. If I am able, I will get a bar stool or bar table and linger a bit longer there, the ambience in the bar is superior for a couple or small group. Enjoy!

Any place that serves liquid cheese, ground beef, and guacamole from a mix(its mixed with something… mayo/yogurt?) is not real mexican. The server was grumpy and had a million and one excuses for why things were wrong or forgotten in addition to being visibly miserable. It got the second star for not being taco bell. Actually. I wish I went to taco bell instead.

Great authentic Mexican. Great prices and portions! We went at 1 on a Saturday and enjoyed the lunch special burritos and house margaritas.

I’m not a huge Mexican food fan but La Carreta is amazing! There’s usually a wait, but it’s worth it. For starters, try the queso dip and the queso fon dito(not sure on spelling) my family loves these dips so much we usually get some just to go. It’s not fake meat or anything strange like at other Mexican places, this is the real deal. They have a great Taco Salad in a large tortilla shell which you can eat as well. And for dessert, must try the Churros! Delish

I’m torn on this. After receiving a ton of recommendations to visit this place, my experience(and that of my guests) was mixed. The food was delicious. We all ordered something different and were more than happy with the food. The service definitely wasn’t what we expected. Considering all of the other great reviews of service I’m wondering if we came on an off night? Our server was definitely speedy but nothing other than speedy and we didn’t see him more than once after the food was delivered. His speed made us feel like he was too busy to take the time to wait on us. We then reached a point after the food was delivered when we suddenly became invisible. No one(our server or otherwise) visited our table for 20 minutes and eventually I went to the host stand to ask if someone could bring our checks. The checks were dropped off quickly and picked up quickly. I’m not sure if any of us will return. The food was great but we definitely didn’t feel welcome there.

Of the 4 locations La Carreta has, this is our favorite. The food, drinks and service are exceptional here compared to our other experiences in Derry and Manchester. Only 4 stars because of the afternoon siesta closing hours. We like to do a late lunch/early dinner during the week and Nashua closes from 2−5ish Monday through Thursday. We always forget until we show up at 1:30! It won’t stop us from going during the week though, it’s so good!

What can I say that everyone else hasn’t? Been here over 100 times and all I can add is that they have some great food and servers. VICTOR should teach a class, he’s probably the best server I’ve ever had. They guy is amazing and love their food.

Chips and salsa: Absolutely delicious and fresh. Food: it was good, but not great. Big portions. Tasty. Not too greasy, just enough. They messed up my wife’s order, but we followed the Golden Rule of eating out: «Never send anything back to the kitchen!»(otherwise the chef may add some secret DNA sauce to your enchiladas.) Prices were ‘reasonable’. Ambiance: way too noisy, too crowded. But I must acknowledge it was a Saturday night. Odds of us going back? 50⁄50. Some alternatives: Casa Blanca in Billerica(their hot sauce on the side is phenomenal) or Shorty’s(Nashua)

Came here for lunch. Though I’ve been here a handful of times. Ordered the Grande Burrito steak and it was so good! You get chips and salsa like you typically would at your table. Service is great as always. Though I did not get any drinks this time around; in my past visits I had their margaritas, so good and so strong!

I absolutely love this place! Everything is delicious! You have to try the steak nachos, it is literally heaven on a plate. The cheese mixture that they use is amazing, yum yum yum. I also really like the burrito Colorado, chimichangas, plain tacos, the list is endless. The salsa is to die for and you can buy it to take home with you, I reccommend this! You won’t regret it(only that you didn’t buy more). Victor is one of my favorite people there and it is a joke with my friends and I that we always hope to have him wait on us when we are planning on going. He is awesome. He is always in a great mood, focused, fast and just overall sweet. We all have a little celebration when he is our waiter. You can’t go wrong eating here, celebrating a birthday or just getting a drink(Frozen Peach Margarita is sooooo good!)

Good experience all around. Place is clean, décor is what you would expect. Chips are homemade and salsa is very good. Server was a sweetheart. Food is nothing spectacular but decent portion size and seasoned well. One reviewer said this is the Mexican equivalent of the Olive Garden, I have to agree.
