There’s not a glimpse of jarring color here. Neutrals and pale pastels dominate the largely expensive collections. Well manicured designers are available to help customers assemble interiors, too. By invitation, the Naples Opera provided a one-night teaser for the upcoming season. The event was hosted at Clive Daniel. They opened space in their center atrium so a string quartet could perform two selections, followed by the performance of a coloratura soprano. The well-heeled crowd stood or perched on Clive Daniel’s couches and chairs while the music flowed. Light, very light hors d’oevres were provided on two tables, and wine was poured sparingly at a third, My guess from the soggy, chilled canollis that the food was gathered at Costco, or provided by a low budget caterer. o dear. But we were there not for the food, but for the opportunity to preview classical talent in a pretty setting. Staff from the Opera were armed with program brochures and were available to sell season tickets. It was apparent that a handful of Clive Daniel sales people were conscripted to stay for the evening event. They huddled out of sight of the performers, but their chatter carried to the ears of several disapproving opera patrons in front of us. Luckily, the Neopolitans present avoided confrontation, and were content to be distracted from the music by throwing evil glances at the oblivious Clive Daniel reps. A good time was had by not all.
