XSport Fitness

I’ve been coming to this Xsport on and off for the last 10 years. I cancelled my membership when I went to college and never signed back up once I had graduated and moved back home. That was four years ago. My fiancé has a membership so he would go and I would work out at home since I did not want to sign up. I was very happy when Xsport began offering their members to bring a guest for free. Since we were living together, we always came together and I was only using the elliptical/​treadmill and weights so I did not find it necessary to get my own membership for the perks that guests arent able to use, like the group fitness classes.
A couple months ago, I was becoming bored with my usual routine and wanted to try the group fitness classes to shake things up. I decided to sign up when they were offering a $ 1 down promotion.
I met with Chaz who helped me get signed up again. He was so friendly and answered all the questions I had. The process of signing up was quick and went smoothly.
I began taking a few different group classes the next week and they are great! Ive taken a couple Zumba and Werq classes and they are a blast! It makes an hour go by so quickly while you are torching calories dancing and having a great time. I have taken a few different instructors, who are all fantatic but Bonnie is my favorite! She always has a smile on her face and is full of energy!
This gym is huge and has tons of different cardio and weight options. The only reason I cant give 5 stars is there is always machines that are broken/​out of order.

I don’t write reviews — EVER. But I really wanted to express my gratitude for the service that Ernie the General Manager extended when I came to the gym to sign up.
He was very attentive to my time constraints, he listened when I said I wasn’t interested in something and quickly moved on (ironically, I asked later in the conversation and he went back no problem). He listened to my health goals and challenges to meeting my goals. He hand picked a trainer for me that he knew would fit with my goals and style.
He defines customer service excellence. ALL the gym sales team needs to learn from Ernie. XSport would be a very successful operation if everyone followed the school of Ernie.

I highly recommend this gym… Ernie is the GM, he’s awesome! I was looking for a personal trainer that would challenge me, he selected Jamere Morrison who is outstanding.

Losing stars because it’s becoming annoying to come here.
Reasons I’m looking for a new gym now are mostly monetary reasons and I’ll explain. They are now offering $ 10 monthly memberships. I get that it’s just for that specific location and I wouldn’t get the perks of going to other locations. But now, because this gym is close to one (or 2, can’t remember) of the express locations, they are all coming (or what it seems like) over to this location because of the size and amenities. I’ve asked about changing my membership, but it is a pain in the a$$ to do. You have to call this person, you have to hand write a letter… COMEON. Also it’s resolution-​er season, so even more people (plus all the college kids home on break) is just gonna be a nightmare.
Peek hours are getting longer and I’m starting to look to move out of this gym all together because I’m sick of trying to change my workout to fit the open equipment. And I’m sick of being at the gym for two hours and not being able to maximize the little time I do have.
2 stars? Purely for the amount of equipment and nothing else. There used to be a couple of super friendly people working here. They no longer work there.

Bad management. No one clean the equipment. The lockers, showers and everything in the locker room need a cleaning. The pool room have a strong smell of chlorine. It need proper ventilation. I always have breathing problems after visiting the pool room.

All I can say is WOW. The customer service here really does go above and beyond and here is why;
Today I set a goal that I was going to get back into the gym and make fitness a part of my life again. I drove around to 2 other locations prior to coming into Xsport with no intention of signing up today. I was going to go home and really contemplate which gym I was going to commit a good portion of my life to. I was feeling really discouraged because each gym that I went to didn’t treat me as an individual. They were shoving all of these prices in my face and I left feeling more like a payment they were trying to receive and less like a person. That was until I walked into Xsport and met the GM Ernie.
Ernie greeted me, sat me down and made sure that I was comfortable before we even started talking about prices. Once we started getting into the details he took my stats and made the necessary efforts to lay out plans that would work for me as an individual and as a person. He made this gym stand out from any other gym that I have ever been to.
I left feeling accomplished and appreciated. I left with an understanding as to why Xsport is so popular and praised amongst my community. Even though I wasn’t looking to commit today, I felt as though I wouldn’t find any gym service better than what Ernie was offering me, so I eagerly signed up!
Thank you Xsport and thank you Ernie for helping me make steps toward becoming a better and stronger version of myself! You rock!

I really don’t understand what the qualifications are to work at this location. This «is» a workout facility isn’t it?! So why do most of the people that work here look like they have never seen, let alone been to any type of gym? The manager walks around aloof with such arrogance like he owns the place. Maybe he should cut down on the kegs and utilize «his» Xsport now and then. Then you have the sales manager that looks like a retired mall cop trying to instill his intimidation on non members. Some of the trainers are very fit and look like their should be trainers but then you have the «others» that look as fit as some of the struggling members. This place needs a complete management overhaul to motivate and lead this location and teach ALL of them better customer service.

Was a frequent member for one year. Day before leaving for vacation i get a quick lift on. Go to fill my water bottle only to find a decent amount of fresh blood. Thought to myself, no big deal. Someone cut their finger open, i probably would have done the same thing. TWO WEEKS LATER: get back from my vacation and go for a workout. That same blood is still in the water fountain but dried up! I am no neat/​sanitary freak but that is absolutely unacceptable! Walked out and will never return!

The gym itself is so-​so… usually crowded, unless you’re a stay at home mom with time to go during the day.
If you decide to cancel, be prepared to get annoyed. I had to send in a certified letter TWICE, and both times it «was not received». They won’t do anything over the phone and you can’t just go to the gym’s front desk to cancel, even though everything should be computerized. They’re stuck with snail mail that doesn’t work. Good luck with your cancellations, people.

We just signed up for membership here. Luckily, we got Ernie (manager) who took the time to work with us. He has exceptional customer service skills and patiently discovered our fitness needs. I’m just finishing OT from hip replacement and am looking to continue therapy and strengthening.
His extensive experience made him the ideal fit for us — really glad we got him. Really not sure if we would have joined if we had some young overly enthusiastic sales person who might have been more concerned about signing us up than considering our needs.

And Gosia is one of the most amazing massage therapists I’ve ever met in my life!!!

No frills, it is what I would expect. Staff is not bad but not exceptional. 2 ways to improve is add a few 15 pound and 20 pound dumbells to the free weight area upstairs, add maybe two more benches as there is always a wait and I have to beg the high school kid next to me to use them next. Also what’s with keeping the towels behind the front desk. Home goods is across the street no one wants to steal your towels. I do like how I hardly ever have to wait for a smith squat machine. The serious lifters here get it, unlike at lifetime where they sit and text in the only smith squat. A girls gotta squat

I was a member of this gym for 3 years. I have trained with Drew Reinwald and he completely helped me meet my fitness goals. His knowledge of nutrition and fitness set me on a path that I still follow to this day.

I have been a member at XSport for about 4 years. I currently enrolled for personal training sessions only because I feel confident that the trainer that I have Drew Reinwald will definitely help me and motivate me to keep going. He’s very personable and has a great sense of humor. Totally recommend the Naperville location and Drew if you’re looking for a trainer!

I am very impressed by this Xsport! I have been training with Drew Reinwald and he is amazing! I told him all of the goals I wanted to reach and everything is working! I am getting more toned and more defined! I have trained with many trainers and he is the absolute Best! Because of him I will always and forever be an Xsport member! Thank you Xsport and thank you Drew!

Having spent a considerable amount of time in the weight room throughout my athletic career and beyond I have come to the conclusion that not all gyms are created equal. What I appreciate the most about Xsport is that I always leave there with a smile on my face; regardless of the few downfalls that it may have.
In addition to my time spent alone tossing iron around, I have also had the incredible honor to work with one of Xsport’s rock star trainers, Drew Reinwald. His knowledge and passion, coupled with his humor, are things that any person hoping to achieve any type of fitness goal would want in a trainer. He finds the perfect balance between hard work and fun so it’s never considered a «work out» in my book. Although my body screams otherwise and that’s why I love it.

Xsport was not only a wonderful surprise, it was a breath of fresh air after the run around I received from the other large gym in the area.
I’ll start with the customer service. I love a place where the GM isn’t just available, but 100% accessable. Ernie speaks to me every time I’m there. But he isn’t the only one, the entire staff is friendly and incredible helpful. I feel perfectly comfortable approaching any of them and confident that they will guide me properly.
The gym itself is clean. In fact, they are constantly cleaning. I for one appreciate that. The equipment is great and they offer a wide variety. I have never had to wait for a cardio machine. The pool is great, but the jacuzzi is the place I end up at the end of most workouts.
Lastly, and most importantly for me, my son LOVES the childcare area! He gets so excited when I tell him that we are going to the gym. They have an excellent facility for the kids. But the best part is that I can watch him on the monitor while I am on the cardio machines.
Yep! This Xsport is definitely a five star gym for me!

So first let me say. I really like this gym and the amenities. I have been a member since 2013, using my membership off and on.
The employees at the front desk are mostly very unhelpful often misguiding people with incorrect information.
I was told this year in order to get a better deal on my membership package I should cancel my membership in writing. I sent a cancellation letter to corporate in January 2015. I continued using my membership and referred my son and my friend to join as well.
My son and friend both joined and I was told that I would recieve a free month on my membership for each referred person. Not only did my friend join she provided my information so I would be credited with a free month. The person handeling her pd in full membership said they did not see my name in the system and she would have to go online to a rewards site and provide my information there. However I was attending 5days a week at least and every entry my keycard was scanned with no problem and no one had difficulty finding me in the system. When my friend went on line to attempt this process she was given messages that she was not a member. After we were told they don’t help set up rewards account at the gym.
All of the computers seemed to have outdated software which made transactions or any appointment set to take at least 30min.
I signed up for personal training with many lengthy technology issues.
Meanwhile my cancellation letter which I was told took 10 days to update finally appeared on 3÷28÷2015 almost 60days after my letter. After being blowed off to correct this matter in a respectable amount of time. I was told everyone who could help was gone for the day @ 4:30pm in the middle of the week, the financal guy said he would call them again in the morning. Displeased with that response. I called Corporate Xsport after@ 4:40pm. I was on hold for 25min and then someone answered and helped me to straighten things out. Corporate did call the gym while I was on the phone and get the issue resolved that day. I wasted an about 1&½ hrs upon arriving to workout.
I went to the gym 3 days later and a young lady at the front desk said my credit card was expired. I replyed by pulling out my card and showing her it was not. As I attempted to ask questions to resolve the matter she never gave me her full attention to resolve the issue looking around me to other people as they came in as if I was not right in front of her. I guess its a reason the front desk pepple Do Not Wear name Tags.
After I asked for her full attention because I was unable to get a clear or defined answer she inquired for a manager to help who was helping someone who had come in after me. He did not divert his attention at all until he had finished with the other member. After 20 min of my time was wasted yet again he helped me and said my card was not expired it was declined after going to another computer to look at details the transaction went through fine.
In all if you are looking for friendly helpful service you may not get it here. If you are on a schedule it doesn’t take much for these people to delay and waste ur time.
I hope I dont have any other issues where I need customer service or help. I just want to enjoy working out in a timely manner.
Equipment is great, clean facility, locker rooms are nice, sauna, steamroom, pool, bath loader, & jacuzzi.
I just hope I don’t need help…

The gym itself has stayed consistent over the years, Quality stuff and new equipment refresh regularly.
The PROBLEM:
They have a nice locker room, showers, steam room and other locker room amenities BUT the same homosexuals just linger around naked trying to make a «New Friend»

Went in with a friend who is a member and was excited to give this gym a shot, went online and registered for a 1 week trial, checked the class schedule and found a spin/​cycling class to try. Called and asked the sales rep if I could come straight to the spin class and do the sales pitch after the class. Sure, no prob. I did my homework, covered all my bases so that I wouldn’t have any problems day one of my trial.
I enter with my friend ready to spin. Came 20 minutes early to be sure we would be able to spin. Front desk was horrible. It’s my first time in the gym. A light bulb should go off flashing prospective new member! smile! welcome them! But alas NO. Can I attend the spin class? No. You have to attend a 30 min sales pitch. Argh. Can I just attend the class and do it after? Let me go ask my regional mgr… «No»
Many back and forths as I explain that I already called to ask to see if it was ok and was given the impression I would have no problems. Back and forth again front desk guy to the regional mgr. Still answer is No. He then tells me that in addition to this, free trials are not allowed to try the classes as they are only for members. Ok, then when I called you can tell me this when I say I’m requesting a free trial and I want to take a spin class.
Can all the employees and regional mgr get on the same page? Ridiculous. What a waste of time, and unneeded stress.
Finally after about 15 min of drama and back and forth I tell the front desk guy instead of going back and forth why don’t you have the regional mgr just come talk to me himself?! He goes back… Talks to some guy sitting at a desk with his back turned to me (turn around and make some eye contact with the customer you have no respect for) then comes back to me and finally says Ok just leave me your Drivers License you can try the spin class.
Spin class instructor was great. Talked a lot but was funny. Music was pretty good. I came out of the class ready to kiss this gym goodbye… But the front desk folks were nice, they finally smiled and apologized and asked how I liked the class…
Ok so that helped. But the regional mgr who only showed me his back. Priceless.
