It’s a Bling Thing

Despite the visions I associated with the store name, it turns out you don’t have to be a 65 year old Las Vegas retiree to appreciate all of the jewelry they sell. –Thoughts of my mom’s sparkly gold walking shoes butchered my thoughts. Bedazzled wares are not for me! They do have cheap bling. And chunky necklaces that every junior high girl could sport with her Uggs and leggings. But they do have a selection of interesting metals. It’s not all bling and plastic.
I have a daughter who loves it. She sees stuff she wants all the time and it’s almost always under $ 20. For me personally, it’s really hit or miss. Yes, there are no returns (unless the merchandise is defective), but is it that big of a deal when it’s a $ 10 necklace?
I have found really cool necklaces here on occasion. Cool enough to wear to high end functions. Women oohed and aahed over my necklace, assuming it was expensive. Nope. It was $ 21.
If you’re in downtown Naper, it’s worth a spin around the store. Even if you’re discerning like me. Because, I promise you it’s not ALL a bling thing.

This place is cute. Not as big of a selection as Charming Charlie’s but I’ve found a few cute things. They are very active on their Facebook which I like. I went in yesterday and saw a ring I loved but at $ 23, I felt it was too expensive. My main complaint is they are on you like a hawk! Tons of cameras and signs everywhere about shoplifting. I know it’s a small business and it’s really important, but I don’t like feeling like a thief when I enter a store.

Zero stars.
All businesses in a respectable town, such as Naperville, offer returns in the same payment received (with receipt) for items purchased in their store, especially at Christmas time.
This Owner refused to return a $ 50.00 purchase with receipt and within the time frame. Said exchange only. There is no sign at the check out and they don’t tell you of this policy when making a purchase.
I will take my business elsewhere… This is deceiving business.
This store is bad for Naperville and it’s reputation.
Pass the word and don’t shop there.

I love Bling Thing! The store has an assortment of jewelry, scarves, hats, glasses, leg warmers and anything seasonal! I don’t like to spend a lot of money on trendy items — and this gives me the opportunity to purchase some super cute and «in style» items while not breaking the bank.
The owner is always present and remembers me as a customer every time! I also purchase all of my «readers» there — they are so adorable and the quality is there! I lose mine by the week –so I love their style and price! I have never had any issue with things breaking or wearing out!
I appreciate the opportunity to shop in downtown Naperville and support small business owners! We are lucky to have The Bling Thing in our community and I think everyone should support the company and shop — you will get a good deal while getting some of the cutest items on the market! Enjoy1

I love this store!!! I live in LA, but I’m from Naperville, and I always make it a point to stop by this store and buy things. The owner is so kind. And he always remembers me. It’s a very nice store and I have SO much from here. I really recommend stopping by and buying gifts for your family and friends =)

I love, love, love this store! Wide selection of jewelry, watches, and fun scarves! Employees are always super helpful and friendly. Prices are great, I buy all my jewelry here now because it is so affordable! Also a great place to look for gifts :)
Side note, if you have trouble finding street parking, there are several downtown parking garages that are close.

I’ve walked past this store several times, but they’re usually closed when I’m in the area. I never really discovered downtown Naperville till… well last night. Sure, I’ve visited a lot of the places in the area meaning the bars, not the stores.
So after dinner at Neo (another first for me) My friend and I headed over to this place… I LOVED it!!! Their jewelry is in the Charming Charlie price range though the store isn’t as big as Charming Charlie but it’s a cute little place. A lot of the necklaces come paired with earrings which is awesome, they also have other accessories like scarves, sunglasses, and hair ties.
Upon checking out — for ever $ 10 spent you got $ 1 bling bucks to be used the following month so I think I need to go back for a pair of reasonably priced sunglasses because I cannot stand spending a ton of money on a pair I’ll sit on, or scratch, or break in some way.
The employee there didn’t watch the customers like a hawk, he was friendly and told me their new stuff gets posted on facebook, so I just became a fan of their page there. They also give you trays (not baskets) to shop with.
If you’re looking for wedding jewelry — this is a great place to shop for it! I will definitely be back!!!

This is such a cute little boutique. I’ve found quite a few cool accessories here. They even helped me find a jump ring I needed to switch out a chain and charm I had.
Everything here is inexpensive. Most of the time with accessories you get what you pay for. Think Claire’s quality but way trendier and geared towards a larger age range.
I bought a watch here and the battery died the next day. But the gentleman who worked there put a new one in for me without issue.
I look forward to visiting anytime I’m looking for some costume jewelry, awesome headbands for my little one, and the occasional blinged out phone case.

When you walk into a stop like this, you should know what to expect: lots of girly accessories at reasonable prices and quality on par with said prices. What I didn’t expect was their customer service. While it’s understandable that loss prevention is a big issue, it was off putting to see a sign posted right on the door regarding their policy for teenage and pre-​teen shoppers. As soon as you step inside, there are more instructions about how you must place all items on the black trays provided while you shop. Right off the bat, you could sense that as a customer, you were not trusted. Additionally, as I was browsing their admittedly wide selection of statement necklaces and cocktail rings, I was neither greeted nor assisted by any employees. The fact that the sales girls just stood around rather than connecting with any of the shoppers probably negated all the efforts made to prevent shoplifting. If no one is acknowledging what’s going on in the store, it just makes it seem that much easier to get away with shenanigans.
You’d think that a small boutique would provide a warmer shopping experience, but sadly, it was not the case. Perhaps if customers felt more valued shopping at It’s a Bling Thing, there could be more sales and less theft.

We will consider stopping in to shop the next time we are downtown.

I generally like this store and have bought a lot of items but I may have to just go elsewhere. The staff is just so unprofessional. Maybe if the staff was more attentive they wouldn’t need so much surveillance. The associate was dressed and looked like she was on her way home from a bar. Two of them were gossiping on the floor about someone and were oblivious to the customers. Times are tough, find some better help and maybe I would return. The jewelry is cheap and few pieces broke the week I bought them but you know that going in. The no return policy is a little tough especially when the items break.

I would just like to say if anyone is looking for a place to find anywhere from an adorable gift to full bridesmaids jewelry this is the place! I met Mike (the owner) when trying to get some donations for a Dress For Success fund raiser, His store had just opened. I think I spent over $ 80 that day on myself and my kids. It was awesome! I went back a few months later looking for a specific purse. He only had clutches, I had told him what I was looking for, he went out of his way to show me a catalog and special order it for me. Not only did I leave so happy, after I received my purse my sister and my mom loved it so much I ordered each of them one. This store rocks and it’s prices are unreal!

It’s sparkly and very girly in here, just what I love! There is lots of glitz and they have accessories galore. Not only necklaces and earrings and bracelets, but they also have scarves, watches, jewelry stands, toe rings, headbands… lots of girly stuff.
I visited today with my sister-​in-​law and we loaded up. The 2 people working were doing their own thing which was fine with me — I like to browse uninterrupted. I found plenty of stretchy and wrap bracelets, (I have really small wrists, so these are great for me), and a very sparkly accessory to use for my car keys. If I had to wear a lanyard, I would get one from here since they are very pretty.
Yes, as other reviewers have said, it is similar to Charming Charlie’s. They do have items grouped by color, but I didn’t feel so overwhelmed as I did when I visited CC. I liked the smaller size. The items they had available seemed to be «normal» not too obnoxious or too big (some of those older women wear HUGE accessories).
Stop by here on your next visit to Naperville. Get on some glitz!

If you’re a female and looking for some jewelry to complete an outfit but don’t want to spend a fortune or just need a little pick me up, you should definitely stop by this store! This concept is similar to Charming Charlie, except that its not as overwhelming and nicely laid out. In one section is good selection of jewelry that would be appropriate to compliment bridesmaid and formal dresses, and at much lower prices than what one would normally pay! There is a section of smaller items, appropriate for younger girls, and a section arranged by color. For my tastes, I prefer the area that is more «trendy» with the larger «statement» earrings/​bracelets; ie, the tyep of earrings you might see on the show «Basketball Wives» or wear for a night out on the town.
And lets talk about the prices here: VERY REASONABLE (cheap!). The staff is very friendly and helpful. If you are looking for a specific type of jewelry, the owner Mike will be happy to try and see if he can order what you are looking for. A great place to go if you just need a little accessory spice in your wardrobe!

It’s funny because I’ve walked passed this time a million times and have never given it a second thought because I thought it would be loaded with high price tags…
Okay, so I haven’t officially purchased anything here, but I took a good roam around the other day and by the looks of it, I will take everything, to go.
They have a really solid selection of jewelry and it is *REALLY* nicely priced. So nicely priced I felt the need to use asterisks. I like how this store is laid out. It makes it easy to find things and there is a nice little path carved out for you to wander down in delight. I have my mind on a few items I last saw there, so it’s just a matter of going there and making those purchases finalized. I will definitely bring more people by here to check it out.
The employees were friendly and aware, but not by any means overbearing or pushy. I look forward to the next stop in. This would be a good place to go to in combination with Élan Boutique. Happy shopping!

Bling Thing is similar to Charming Charlie’s. Organized by color and style, and the prices are reasonable. I was surprised by this considering it’s a downtown Naperville boutique. Everything I saw was $ 6 – 12.
Only one employee was present while I shopped, and I didn’t feel pestered, spied on, or pressured.
Overall, I was underwhelmed by the selection and style of some of the jewelry. Reasonably big selection of cocktail rings and glitzy earrings and bracelets, but some of the stuff just looked like Kohl’s clearance rack jewelry. I prefer Charming Charlie or Forever XXI over Bling Thing, but if you’re in downtown Naperville it’s worth a look.

All the jewelry I wear now (which the exception of my wedding rings and Fossil watch), comes from this store. Seriously. I’m obsessed! I love that they have trays to shop with, so the jewelry doesn’t get tangled together. This store is well organized, by color and by type of jewelry. They have a lot of merchandise, but this helps it to not be overwhelming.
Another major reason I shop here are the fabulous prices! They claim that they can keep prices low since there are no returns or refunds. Whatever the reason, I’m for it! And who would need to return a $ 2 pair of earrings anyways?
The quality is much better than a chain mall jewelry store, and the staff is always super friendly! Also, the last time I came I could take my receipt over to Einstein’s Bagels next door and receive 10% off my order! Now that’s teamwork!
Will keep coming back again and again!

The only thing preventing me from giving this place a higher rating is the customer service. I was in the store for about 15 minutes and NOT ONE of the 5 employees greeted me or my friend. It is a small space and there were only a few people in the store at the time, so there is no way that each person should not have been greeted. Usually, in cases like this why I am not greeted, I walk around for a second and then leave.
HOWEVER, I was truly engrossed with all the fabulous accessories that were in the store so I let it slide. Earring, bracelets, necklaces, charms, purses, everything! And the prices are pretty decent as well. I ended up getting 2 gifts and of course, something for myself. It is quite a long way from my house, but I will definitely go back. Hopefully someone will speak to me next time…

If you’re looking for trendy, hip jewelry at truly affordable prices, this place is it. At first, I avoided it because it was in downtown Naperville. But once I ventured inside, I was HOOKED! There is an amazing selection of classic, hip, trendy and just plain fun jewelry. And with some of their specials when you sign up for their email newsletter, you can get some great deals. I’m already looking forward to my next visit!
