History

Established in 1918.

Friedrich-​Jones Funeral Home & Cremation Services history began when Charles Friedrich Sr. purchased a combination undertaking parlor and furniture store from Phillip Kraushar in 1918. Local lore has it, that in those days, tolling church bells announced whenever there was a death in town.

In 1938, Friedrich F H moved from 20 W. Jefferson St. to the current location at 44 S. Mill St. in what was formerly the Henry Durrand home, built for the late jeweler in 1859. Charles died in 1939 and his son, Ben, took over the operation. In 1967, Ben hired Ray Jones as an assistant funeral director. Upon Ben’s passing in 1976 Jones bought the funeral home with the agreement that the Friedrich name would be retained.

The funeral home is now owned & operated by Ray and his children Dave & Stephanie. The exemplary service and warm caring environment that was established almost 100 years ago still lives on perpetuated by the Jones Family and their exceptional staff in Naperville and Plainfield

Meet the Business Owner

Ray J.

Business Owner

Ray Jones purchased Friedrich Funeral Home in 1976 and Overman Funeral Home in 1982 and has served as a licensed funeral director and embalmer since 1966. Later, the Jones name was added to both locations to reflect the Jones family ownership. Ray is a longtime member, usher, and 3^rd degree Knight of Columbus at SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church. Ray is a well-​known community leader and philanthropist.

Dave Jones has served as a co-​owner since 1996 and as a licensed funeral director and embalmer since 1995. He is an active member, host greeter, and former board member serving on the «Journey of Faith» fundraising campaign at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Naperville, Illinois.

Stephanie Jones-​Kastelic, CPA has served as a co-​owner and pre-​planning consultant since 1996. She is an active member and lector at St. Raphael Catholic Church in Naperville since 1996 and is currently serving on the Adult Faith Formation Commission.
