Chloe Hair

I came in for a haircut with my appointment. I waited maybe 5 – 10 minutes until I was taken in.
The (mexican) lady shampoo and conditioned my hair. She was nice and tried to small talk with me. But I didn’t feel her massage the shampoo into my scalp like I’m used to.
She sat me on the styling chair and started brushing out my hair. Chloe, the owner, was cutting another customer’s hair at this time. Then Chloe switched over to me while the other lady started blow drying and cleaning up the other customer. Chloe asked what I wanted and I said I wanted 2 inches off and with more layers so that my hair was lighter and could be more voluminous. She showed me how much 2 inches was and I agreed.
She just started choppppppping away! She was super fast and this caused me to be super tense b/​c I can tell she’s experienced but when people go that fast, it makes you worry they’re not being careful. Then a mom and two girls walked in and asked if they had time for two trims. They said yes. I grew concerned, as I felt Chloe felt more rushed to get me done so she could move on to the other 2 girls. Chloe started talking to me and she was very nice too. However, I was just squeezing my hands nervously underneath the cape, as I saw multiple 5 – 6 inch pieces of hair fall to the ground. I think she forgot about the 2 inches and just focused on making my hair lighter with a ton of layers, because that is what the end result was. My hair is super light and has a ton of layers. I actually didn’t like it when I left the salon– I thought it looked terrible. But I found out if I put my hair behind my ears, It looks pretty good right now.
She blow dried it so that all of the layers curl inwards and it looks nice right now. My concern is that I usually just let my hair air dry. If my hair is long, it air dries nice and straight. If it is medium with short layers, it dries really weird and wavy/​messy. So we will see how it looks tomorrow…
But anyway, as a summary:
Chloe and other lady are very nice
It appears that Chloe might be the only one that cuts hair and the other lady just washes and blow dries… at least based on the 45 minutes I was there for.
Chloe cuts ridiculously fast and it is quite nerve wrecking, not to say she does a bad job or anything, it’s just kind of intense. She’s kind of rough, hitting your ear with the comb numerous times, flipping your wet, heavy hair onto your face while chopping furiously.
It was $ 35 + tip. Typical for Asian haircut in Chicagoland area.

I got my hair straightened here with a coupon. All the hair stylists were very nice and extremely patient with my thick hair. It was a long process, but very well done. The salon is very clean and fancy décor. Definitely will be going back for my straightening again!

HORRIBLE! Don’t come here. My hair is completely damaged after Japanese straightening done by Chloe :(and is not even straight. I will ask for my money back to try to repair my hair (but as for research I have done there is nothing I can do, just cut it) I have to say also that when I was there she didn’t offer any good service… Kind of rude … Below my story
My hair is long, medium thick, little wavy (most people could consider my hair straight), never been colored, use almost none flat ironing, don’t blow dry my hair either. Overall WAS A very very HEALTHY hair (I used good shampoo/​conditioner and do conditioner treatment at home every 15 days). Even Chloe’ assistant mentioned that I have very nice hair! :(
Four years ago I did my first Japanese straighting in another salon (other state) for the price of 280, plus tip 300. My hair was in same condition as describe above. The result was Perfect!!! Beautiful smooth silky hair… I loved it!
After seeing good reviews on Japanese hair straighting at Chloe’s I went to the salon for a quote on my hair and see if the place looked ok. Chloe checked my hair and told me 300 including hair cut (total paid 315 with tip). I though it was ok. I did my appt for Saturday March 15.
On Saturday with help of her assistant she did similar steps from what I remembered when I did my first treatment but in a shorter time almost in a hurry… She did a comment to her assistant saying that I was very lucky I got a good deal. She was not so friendly/​kind of rude during the whole process. Something different I noticed is that she didn’t take to much time during ironing my hair… The previous guys took about 6 hours to complete the whole process … She took about 2 and a half hours… In that moment I thought maybe is ok…
When I looked in the mirror hair look ok (not so silky look as when I did it the first time)(I thought maybe I was not remembering well). She trimmed my hair after hair cut and I went back home not feeling so happy as after first time I did my Japanese hair straighting.
At home i noticed some little kinky hair at the back end of my hair but didn’t mind so much since overral the rest of the hair was ok… (Straight)
I follow very well directions on not wetting (easing until Monday), bend or do anything that can mark my hair. I also touch up at night and morning (as recommended)
On Monday night finally washed my hair and While wading it I noticed that some of it was breaking… :(I tried to keep positive and think it was ok… I went out of the shower and dry it sofly with towel and noticed that it was not so silky looking. I blow dry a little (no completely my hair was still about 50% wet) and decide to wait until it dried by itself… I was still hoping it was going to be ok… But finally it was revealed my hair was wavy in some parts… And the worst some if the hair was frizzed very kinky I supposed it is fried/​burned
I will go today (Monday) to ask for my money back to go somewhere else to fix it (if possible). I will give a follow up.

So here is my review for this salon, I was looking for hair salon, one of my friend suggested me about this salon, so went to try it on. My hair is medium length, she didn’t tell me how much it gonna cost before she start, thought it would be just like others, and she did a good job, no doubt about it, but when comes to billing part it’s like way high. It’s a kind of rip off place, I will suggest anyone before u step in u should talk about thee price before, coz she later will say ur hairl is long sooo. It’s pretty expensive place, u can get same hair cut done in any place atleast 40% lesser than here guys.

My sons love going here and teenage boys are a hard bunch to please! We went through a bunch of salons and finally landed at the right place. Chloe is great!

Chloe always does the job right. Offers her recommendations but doesn’t push. Allow her to be creative with your hair and you will always LOVE the outcome! I drive over an hour just to get my hair cut!

I tried to have my grey hair covered and my highlights blended. What a disaster, Chloe was unable to cover the grey despite using a solution that caused my scalp to itch. In the two hours I was there neither she nor her assistant spoke to me, except for the initial question regarding what I wanted done. I have been getting my hair coloured and highlighted for 20 plus years and have NEVER had trouble with getting a good result. Chloe had no explanation for why this happened. My haircut was also not very good. I would not recommend this salon.

I’m very picky with who I let touch my hair. My usual hair stylist that I had been seeing for more than 8 years moved back to Korea so I had to find someone else. Last time when I came home I went to someone in Chinatown which was fine but a hassle to travel to from the burbs unless you plan to go to the city. So, I found Chloe through Unilocal and decided to make an appointment. I was able to schedule an appointment for the same day easily.
It was a weekday afternoon which probably explains why I was the only one there. No complaints here though because I was taken care of right away which is very uncommon at Asian hair salons (even if you have an appointment). Chloe and her assistant were both great and very efficient. I left 30 min. later with a great haircut for the same amount that I’m used to paying (about 30 bucks before tip). I’ll definitely be back next time I’m home visiting.

This was the first salon in Naperville to give me the exact haircut I wanted (4 salons and the soccer mom look each time). I usually go to a salon in Lombard but, they were closed on Sunday and I was itching for a change. The stylist was very knowledgeable and friendly. She had a good vision of what would work well with my face and advised me on changes to the style I came in with.

Love, love, love my hair! Chloe really knows her stuff. I went there a little hesitant about the digital perm, wikipedia says its good for thick coarse hair as well as thin hair. When I got there Chloe actually said that it wouldn’t turn out as good since I have thick wavy/​curly hair, and suggested the Keratin treatment. So glad too, my hair is so soft and shiny, and not a bit frizzy. First time with the keratin treatment and Im so happy. Not only that, she totally gave me an awesome price and even put up privacy screens for me, she also threw in a trim at no charge. I will be going back. Thanks Unilocal

You get what you pay for. DO NOT COME HERE IF YOU ARE BLOND. They left me looking like I have yellow hair and my eyes were puffy from the lash job they attempted. Worst salon I’ve EVER been to.

This was (no joke) my FOURTH salon since I’ve moved into the area. The first two were dismal, the third was better but not great, and FINALLY I found a place that does color as well as cuts equally well.
She is currently trying to rectify the color put in by stylist #3, where it was dyed completely black, so now I have to wait til that grows out. The stylists here take their work seriously and will tell you if something is not going to work or look good, which I like. Also, they listen to what you tell them and then list out your options (in my case — how I can fix the damage done by previous 3 stylists) and let you choose. They’ll give you the pros and cons of each choice.
I would highly suggest making an appointment. This place is in a strip mall that gets a lot of walk ins, so get your time in, or you’ll find yourself waiting. Totally reasonable prices!
Also, I’ve seen a LOT of kids come in here for cuts and the stylists are great with them — very patient and take the time to do it right. Of course, the kids are mostly well behaved, so I’m sure that helps.

Love this salon! Had my 1^st digital perm around February 2010 and loved it! I still have a curl if I twist my hair. Definitely bring something to do or watch as the sitting time is awhile. Very clean place and friendly service. I have Latin hair and it took nicely. Get a good moisturizer for after care.
There is a slight language barrier in conversation, however it does not hinder your results or what you want. Im not a talker anyway when I get my hair done so it doesnt bother me.

After several months of half-​heartedly looking for a local Asian hair salon (to go with my Asian hair), I pretty much settled on Chloe Hair Salon on a whim. I’ve been wanting to try a perm, and the reviews on Unilocal for the digital perms here intrigued me.
So, full disclaimer, I’ve never gotten a perm in my life. The most I have done to my hair is a home bleaching my freshman year of college (which, honestly, my best friends did a great job with)! So I really have nothing to compare to. Jina was my stylist, and she cut and permed my hair beautifully! After all was said and done, I LOVE my new curls and with the new ‘do I feel like a million bucks. I brought in a magazine picture, but Jina had a camera of pictures of other clients’ hair after the digital perm to give more of an idea of how it would look in the end, which was useful. If she shows it to you, my hair might be among the pics ;) She also straightened the top of my hair so that it wouldn’t dry so fluffy, which cost extra but would make a big difference. If you are concerned about the cost, I guess you should ask before your stylist does each thing, but I pretty much trusted her to do what was best for my hair.
The salon is spacious and clean. They’ll wash your hair before and after everything’s done. The stylists don’t speak English the greatest but they aren’t that bad, and you (and they) can get the point across (if you can speak Korean, you are in luck). Probably because of the language barrier, conversation was at a minimum unlike most other (how to say. non asian) salons, which I kind of prefer. Everything took about 3 hours. The cut was $ 30 and digital perm was $ 150 (my hair is sort of long). I don’t know how much digital perms usually are, but I think the cut is very well priced. I also bought one of their product thingies they had on display, which I noticed was Korean, if that makes a difference at all to you???
I just had my hair done yesterday, so I have yet to see how it all holds up in the days/​weeks/​months to come, but I’m super happy with my experience so far. I’ll definitely be coming back in the future!
**small update… it’s almost a month later and I still love my hair, still happily curly!!**

My review here is due for an update since I’ve had more regular digital perms and cuts done here. Milo is no longer here, having returned to Korea (it got a little boring in suburban Naperville, but who can blame him?), but a new stylist, Jina (female) is doing cuts and perms now and she does them well too. I brought my sister yesterday to get a digital perm, and she loved it, picture posted (girl with green shirt in picture gallery). Big sexy curls. Jina will pretty much give you a good digital perm if you let her layer and cut the way it should be done normally (I made the mistake of asking her not to layer and thin… went back yesterday with my sister to fix it. My bad. Looks better now that it’s more layered and thinned). Normally with Milo I used the yellow curls (more wavy than curly), but this time Jina used the purple curls on me. It was a little curly at first for my taste, but after 3 weeks it loosened out on its own (always happens with my hair, then stays at this curl structure for pretty much until I cut the hair off) and now I like it alot. My sister’s turned out really well yesterday. Stylist will always tell you that perms will never look the way a curling iron can style your hair, but I have to say that her hair yesterday looked like she’d styled it with a large barrel curl iron (looked great!).
A few pointers to make sure you get the style you want:
If you want waves, go yellow (curl roller color)
If you want big curls, go purple
The typical «fobby» style I like to call it, is where the curls start halfway down your head. My sister and I do not like that style. She calls it «octopus head». Rightly named. Think about it.
Instead, if you want full curls, and good volume throughout, ask for «NO OCTOPUS HEAD» and you’ll be good. Jina will understand that.
Also, have her start the curls at the root of your hair, but have it wrapped (usually with a cotton-​like pad) so it doesn’t get too hot at your scalp. This allows for more volume.
Be prepared that the entire process from cut, to perm, to style, will take about 2 hours. Allow yourself time for that. Bring your laptop and watch a movie, or read the abundant stack of current magazines they offer. They have almost every magazine you’d want to read. Don’t rush the process!
Secondly, in my opinion it is best not to dye your hair, or have dyed hair for a perm. That’s kind of a rule of thumb overall for perms. Both perms and dyes damage your hair. Try to stick to one? The first process of the digital perm is a moisturizing solution for your hair, but it’s not going to protect it from everything else that damages. All and all, just be smart about it.
Service is always great here. I love Chloe! She’s the sweetest :). The salon is always clean too and generally there’s good music and all the magazines you can read. The bathroom is clean as well and I always get a kick out of the medusa-​like lamp in the bathroom (can’t confirm that’s what the designer intended, but it’s cute anyway).

So I was out on the hunt for a digital perm. I’m from Warsaw, IN, and the closest place to even get one started in Chicago. I trusted my fellow Unilocalers and found Chloe’s had great reviews, so I took a chance and set up an appointment. However, it did not end up the way I had planned.
I wanted soft, big curls but with shorter-​shoulder length hair. I’ve been growing out my hair for years (trimming every 4 – 5 months), but I could see the damage towards the ends, thus the shift for shoulder length hair. I never have done anything with chemicals to my hair, so jumping into the world of a digital perm was huge step for me, and man o man I did my research. I brought my laptop and 2 magazines so I could explain what style I wanted. My stylist was Jina, very sweet but I could tell her English wasn’t at a fluent level (maybe my idea was lost in translation here?). Her and the front desk help looked at my hair and immediately wanted me to have the long digital perm look. I explained I wanted it short, but still the soft big curls from a digital perm. Every picture I had was with loose curls, and she said okay. I had a dry cut to take the length off, and then she washed my hair. Then the digital perm process started, and overall the appointment only lasted 2 ½ hours. Once the curlers were out and she was trimming/​styling my hair, I was somewhat in shock, my curls were SUPER TIGHT. However, with all the websites and reviews I’ve read, I was told you have to wait at least a week to see where it goes. It’s been a week and a half, and I am VERY disappointed. Apparently she used a medium curler on my hair, and the curls are WAAYY too tight. Plus, she just did a flat cut on my hair, where the front is longer than the back (I guess she just took liberties here??). My hair has volume, but it is lacking the style I’ve been longing for.
My suggestion: If you make an appointment, ask for this Milo guy. I was assuming I was having him cut my hair, but I didn’t ask for him when I made my appointment, which I am assuming was my biggest mistake. Also, be careful about the prices. The cut/​wash was $ 35, but the perm was $ 135, an extra $ 5 compared to the last Unilocaler (and my hair is medium-​short, I can’t imagine having $ 5 for the extra length). In the end, I feel like I look like a sad clown. Can’t wait till this perm wears off… oi ve

I was really apprehensive to get a digital perm, but thanks to Unilocal I found Chloe Hair Salon and it turned out great. I brought in pictures of what I wanted (try to bring in pics of digital perms) and Milo looked at them and said «OK!». He gave me a wash and haircut before, which costs $ 35, and then went on to the perm. The salon is nice and clean and since getting perms done takes a couple hours, they have a comfortable setup for it. There are plenty of magazines for you to read while the process takes place and they offer you water. The perm starts at $ 130 and depending on your length of hair, it’ll go up. I drove an hour just to get my hair done here because I trust my fellow Unilocalers!
Its been over 6 months since my perm and it still looks great as the curls get looser. Recommend!

I’ve been getting my hair done by Milo forever now (but the salon itself is still pretty new), and I have to say, he is the BEST!
Being a guy, I could probably get away with getting my hair cut at supercuts or sportsclips, but I choose to come here because they make me look cool… which is no easy feat!
Good service, and as always, you get what you pay for! The best, and highly recommended! Also make sure to call and make an appointment with the cute receptionist Sierra first!
