Specialties
Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars has a long and distinguished wine reputation and is considered a Napa Valley first-growth estate. We are best known for our estate-grown Cabernet Sauvignons – CASK 23, S.L.V., and FAY. Over the years, these wines have become some of the most highly regarded and collected wines worldwide. They are fashioned to express classic elegance, structure, and ageability, and to reflect the place in which they are grown.
Estate & Single-Vineyard Collection
The Estate Collection embodies an unwavering vision to create wines of complex subtlety, richness balanced by restraint, and wines that taste distinctively of the vineyard sites.
Napa Valley Collection
The same classic style of the Estate Collection is also expressed in the Napa Valley Collection. In fact, we begin with estate fruit, forming the backbone of each wine. Then, additional layers of flavors and complexity are blended together with carefully selected fruit from vineyards throughout Napa Valley. Together, they create wines that express the regional character of Napa Valley with the signature style of Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars. It’s an approach that results in wines of lush fruit balanced by extraordinary structure and elegance.
History
Established in 1970.
Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars brought international recognition to California winemaking and the Napa Valley when the 1973 S.L.V. Cabernet Sauvignon won the nowfamous 1976 Paris Tasting, also known as the Judgment of Paris.
In this blind tasting among French wine experts, the 1973 S.L.V. bested first and other classified-growth red wines of Bordeaux. The tasting fundamentally transformed how California wines were viewed worldwide, and the stunning victory launched Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars into the ranks of the world’s most noteworthy Cabernet Sauvignon producers.
