Quintessential is jointly owned by Stephen and Dennis Kreps. Steve is Quintessential’s President and Dennis, its National

Sales Manager. According to Steve, «Quintessential’s mission is to nurture a roster of small, family-​owned wineries from

around the world whose wines reflect the best expressions and highest quality of their particular appellations.»

Pilot, as a Navy Air Traffic Controller, and a manager for some of the largest wine and spirits companies in the country, as the founder and chairman of a successful, well-​respected Midwestern wine brokerage company, as Chief Operating Officer for an ambitious import and marketing partnership and, finally, as a founding partner and President of a growing national wine marketing and import company.

Steve started in 1973 as a wines sales representative and merchandiser. Joined Schieffelin & Somerset as Area Manager. Then moved to Paterno Imports, quickly advancing from Division Manager to National Sales Manager.

In 1988, Steve found Marquis Selections, which eventually merged into Caravelle Wine Selections, which he founded in 1998 as a prestige import and marketing company with Baron Philippe de Rothschild.

In 2002, Steve formed Quintessential. Steve attended the University of Missouri and served four years in the U.S. Navy.
