So my bf & I have been here a handful of times. Their service is really good, they aren’t pushy and they are relaxed. You really can’t go wrong with any food from here and their truffled fries are BOMB. This place is a must. You won’t regret it.

Delicious food and our waitress Crystal was awesome! I regret not trying the roasted chicken or the French fries with sausage gravy, egg, and more. Next time! The fried chicken sandwich was good and so were the truffle fries. My 7 year old had the Mac and Cheese and I ate more of it then she did, it was delicious!

This place has a clean, modern country kind of feel with a well-stocked bar and a modest sized dining area. Awesome burgers and wine/beer selection is always a good thing. Definitely a great place to relax without feeling like you should be doing a wine tasting session(there are other places for that on the same street).

Always consistently wonderful food. We love the ranchers gordo burger more than anything else, but the pickles veggies are also a must have. Crystal gave us great service. This place is always such a pleasure to visit!

Suppose you are in Napa and have abandoned all pretenses of your usual diet of veggies. Where would you go? You would head to Norman Rose for Truffle and Parmesan Fries and a Frito Burger Slider, of course! Oh la la. These are great choices for a decadent lunch to share with a friend along with good conversation. Although you may think that this is not enough food for two people, it absolutely is! The service is friendly and attentive. What is not to like!

Great food! Everything we got was so good-had the egg salad/smoked salmon toast, truffle fries, spinach grilled chicken salad and the wild boar burger. They have a nice little outdoor patio in front. We brought our dog but they don’t allow dogs on the patio, luckily there is a railing that surrounds the patio that we were able to tie him up on. Will def be returning!

Bar food at it’s finest! There is something for everyone here. Burgers, steak, chicken, and even a breakfast sandwich(which is my favorite). But the real winner on the entire menu is the goat cheese dip. It is things dreams are made of for cheese lovers. Gooey, creamy, and salty. What more could you ask for! And they are one of the few places open after 9. Great atmosphere and great service.

We had our rehearsal dinner here for 20 people in their private dining room. They room was very nice. We loved that they had different set menu options to chose from and they even personalized the menu for us! The food was great! Our guests loved the restaurant too. Richard(the manager) was so professional and extremely friendly!

After a long day of wine/champagne/site seeing, my boyfriend and I were in desperate need of some good food(and by that I mean carbs!). After searching Unilocal and the Internet we stumbled across this place and it had everything we were looking for: Mac and cheese, mashed potatoes, and truffle fries! Walking in, we were greeted by friendly staff and was seated immediately. The atmosphere was rustic and relaxing. After looking at the menu a second time we finally decided upon all that I listed earlier as well as the 5 point burger… Oh. My. Gosh. Was it good! Very juicy, and almost tastes like a piece of steak! Everything was beyond good and did not disappoint. We got so much food and it was all under $ 50, and we left stuffed! Excellent find! If you are in town and are looking for a casual place with great food that won’t break the bank, try this place out!

Norman Rose was one of my all-time favorites in Napa. The burger is amazing however I didn’t get my burger, today. Why? Because they wouldn’t allow my 11 pound dog on the patio. I’ve had her on the patio several times before — guess the rules changed. That’s too bad; good way to lose business… people love their dogs.

We recently ate here with a large group. The only reason they deserve 1 star is that they were accommodating for a last-minute large party. Overall, the food was really not good and it was waaay overpriced. The chips & dip app was so bad, I really don’t know why it’s even on the menu. The grilled cheese was the worst I’ve ever had(seriously, how do you mess up grilled cheese!!!). The others at our table barely touched the fish & chips and veggie burger(I later found out it was because they were not good). Now let me tell you about the service. Since we were with a party over 6, we were autograt-ed 20%, which normally would be fine, BUT apparently this gave the server the go-ahead to be careless, un-attentive & rude. I didn’t know service this poor could be found in this area? Ugh.

We are from out of town and just wanted a burger and a beer(when in Napa?) and this was recommended to us. We sat at the bar and had a fantastic experience thanks to our great bartender Rachael. She was quick to take our order, but even better at making up great cocktails. My girlfriend threw her a «can you make me a vodka drink? Surprise me» and the challenge was accepted. Twice. Two of the best cocktails she had ever had from«that» order. We chatted the rest of our meal, she made us a few more drinks, gave us some local recommendations… next thing we knew, there was no one left in the restaurant. We had no idea we shut the place down and she just happily let us do it. Rachael deserves 10 stars, bummer we can’t give more than 5 stars

I came here after a few drinks at a local bar. So my tastebuds were pretty shot by then. I ordered the meatloaf based on the suggestion of my friend. It was ok, the texture was ok, the flavors were ok. the menu also said that it was pork belly wrapped. I was dissappointed with the tiny half piece of bacon that i fat. The barbeque sauce was a little too vinegar-y for my tastes. This usually warrants a 3-star review. But the garlic parmesean fries that my friend ordered… 5-stars! The gin gimlet that I had here was ok. I’ve had better. So this probably isn’t going to be my go to place for cocktails. Their wine and beer list was solid though. I’ll probably be back for a burger, super delicious fries and a beer. To be continued…

Can’t I please give this restaurant 6 stars? We had some friends/relatives who came up from Tiburon for dinner. Norman Rose has long been on my Top 10 list but I think I have to update it to my top 5 list! The specials board was ridiculous yesterday! How on earth do you expect these foodies to choose? I had the pork spareribs(DEELISH!) and Rose had the short ribs. Lucky we are so close because each of us got to taste the others’ dinner. BOOM! The other two diners did a similar thing with the Fish and Chips(so moist and crispy) and the Lamb Burger! And we started with a double order of the Truffled Egg Salad & Smoked Salmon Toast for the table. The wine list rocks too although the bartender was more than happy to make my new favorite cocktail, a French 76, even serving it iced in a Tom Collins glass instead of in a champagne flute.(I know I am picky but they never mind!) And Joe was our super great server! Timing of service was perfect and he had the best smile and was nice enough to chat with our guests. This is why Norman Rose Tavern will continue ranking high on my list. Thanks again for the best food and service in downtown Napa!

Fried pickles. Yes, that’s a thing. And they’re delicious! And the place to get them is Norman Rose Tavern in Napa. Had the pleasure of grabbing lunch here last week. They open at 11:30am, and when I arrived there was already a line forming out the door to get in. After eating their food, I can totally see why. Is this place French Laundry? Hell, no. Nor is it trying to be. They’re just a kick-ass restaurant(from the culinary team behind Azzurro Pizzeria and Atlas Social), that serves upscale pub grub. No farm-to-table, local, sustainable, blah-blah-blah pretense here. Just a fun, neighborhood spot that offers tasty food and drinks with a smile. My dining companion and I shared an order of their truffle fries and the aforementioned Fried Pickles(or «frickles» as my friend likes to call them). Both dishes are devoid of grease and pair well with aioli, ranch sauce, ketchup(or what ever your condiment of choice). I highly recommend ordering both and sharing them with the table. For my main meal, it was a toss-up between the fried chicken sandwich(which looked amazing) or the 5-Dot Ranch cheese burger. The fried-egg sandwich with bacon, swiss, lettuce, etc. also caught my eye. But I ultimately caved in to my inner-carnivore and went with the burger. And it was one of the better burgers I’ve had in quite some time. Be warned though, their medium rare falls more on the rare side(which I’m totally cool with, but some folks might not be). Although I stuck with an Arnold Palmer for lunch, I would certainly come back to try their cocktail menu. All in all, Norman Rose Tavern is a winner, and it’s obvious why this place is such a hit with locals and tourists alike. I will certainly come back here again.

I am giving 5 stars because my experience at Norman Rose Tavern was nothing but 5 stars! The food was excellent, the service was superb, everything was clean, and the ambiance was classy and casual. I came here for dinner with my husband and my parents the other night. It wasn’t too busy yet and we were seated right away. We were greeted by our server quickly, which I appreciated. Our server was awesome and she was really nice. She did a great job checking what dishes my husband could have with his onion and garlic allergy. She also got us everything we needed super quickly, and always made sure that we had water at the table. For my beverage, I had Angry Orchard Hard Apple Cider, which is standard but I liked the way it was served(over ice, in a nice tall glass). We started with a couple starters. My husband and dad had the«Truffled Egg Salad & Smoked Salmon Toast» which they loved. My mom and I both started with their«Broccoli and Cheddar Soup.» This is literally the BEST broccoli and cheddar soup that I have ever had(and I have tried quite a few) in my life! My mom and I both agreed that it could not have been more perfect. It was served hot, had great flavor, the perfect amount of creaminess(not too much) and the perfect proportions of broccoli to cheddar to bacon. It was divine. We also started with the«Bubbly Spinach & Sky Hill Goat Cheese Dip» which was also amazing(served hot, perfect amount of cheesiness and spinach). For my entrée, I had the«Napa Smith Ale Batter Fish-n-chips» which was so tasty. The fish was super fresh, the pieces were not too greasy and had the perfect amount of crispiness. The fries were really good too. My husband and I split the«Tillamook Cheddar Mac & Cheese» which was also very good. Again, hot, perfect amount of cheesiness, not too creamy, not too stringy, just perfect. Everything about our experience was great. I highly suggest Norman Rose Tavern and I will definitely be back if I am in the area.

I loved this restaurant! It was conveniently located across from our hotel. They have TVs inside which made my fiancé happy. We were able to watch the MSU game! The menu had a great assortment. We started with roasted almonds. I got a grilled cheese sandwich with a spicy tomato bisque dip. It was delicious. The fries are also on point here!

I’ve been here a few times over the years, always fearing that it’s going to be expensive for what you get, and for the most part, I think it is on the high side, however, there is a reason why they haven’t gone out of business and the place is always packed.(Other then the hotel across the street). The burgers there are delicious, it’s not the biggest burger, but the beef patties are good size, good density, there is a good bite to it, and there is enough variety. If you want fries, it’s going to be additional as a side, and there are other kinds of food there besides burgers(like ribs etc.) Service was attentive and it very much feels like a Napa Valley place, which really is a place that’s slightly more expensive then other towns but takes regular food and elevates it a level above so you are getting what you paid for. Are there better value in town? Certainly, but this place has its niche and it caters to its niche well. Definitely worth a visit, I won’t come here all the time, but it’s on the list of places to go with a friend.
