After having a horrible choppy hair cut at great clips I decided to try this place to see if they could fix it. I’m so glad I gave them a call and I really appreciate them taking me in last minute! Richie did an amazing job with my hair! My hair feels and looks so much better. Thank you thank you!!! I will definitely be back! Can’t thank you enough!

I have been coming back every 8 weeks, for the past year. Love this place, the students and the staff. They do wonderful work, and are very professional. I have not had one bad experience. Will keep coming.

Had a Halloween party to go to and Blanca painted my face as a zombie for Dia de Los Muertos. She did such an awesome job! People were in awe all night at how well she painted my face. I could tell that Blanca was passionate about her make up artistry, and she also told me that she LOVES what she does. I thought it was a bit expensive for the beauty college to charge $ 25.00 for make up application, but it was worth it. I will definitely return to Le Mélange for another service in the future.

I went here for a touch-​up after a recent haircut at a different location in a different town. My regular gal hadn’t cut my hair as short as I had wanted it and she was out of town and I just wanted to get it done and move on. I’d been to the other beauty school in Napa and figured that’s how beauty school salons were… crowded, noisy and chaotic. Le Mélange is none of that! It’s clean, organized, and quiet — as a salon should be. I showed my student the hairstyle I wanted, and the length I wanted. With the occasional assistance of her instructor I came away with exactly what I wanted!
The best part about going to a beauty school for your hair treatments is the price. I got a shampoo, cut & blow dry for $ 10 + tip!
I think I know where I’ll be going for my haircuts from now on!

Came for a hair cut and left with… the same hair. I’m not sure what she did but I think i could’ve done the same job at my desk. There was effort — just a bit clueless. I would suggest paying a little more and getting your hair professionally done.

If you have an important event and would like a special up do or smooth blow out, give this place a try. The students are very professional and the prices are absolutely a deal. It’s great because they are not that busy and you can get in with fairly short notice. I observed some hair cuts and the students are supported by the instructor and given feedback. Everyone I saw walked out looking great. Give this place a try. It’s easiest to park on 3^rd Street in 2 hour parking.

I got the 90-​minute facial here with Jennifer, and I can honestly say it was my best facial experience yet! Jennifer was extremely sweet, knowledgeable and caring, and gave me an amazing massage too!
I’ve had many facials over the years, and usually when the aesthetician puts a mask on that needs to dry for a while, they take off and come back later to finish the job… not here! Each time a mask was applied, Jennifer filled the «mask waiting time» with an arm, hand or neck massage. I left the place feeling so relaxed.
On the down side, the back room for facials isn’t the most luxurious. It’s one larger communal room and a little industrial looking. For the price though, it’s still a fantastic service!

If you plan to have a facial in the next few months, go now! Today I had a fantastic facial at the school, given by Tracy. Great deal too! She took great care in my comfort and did an expert job of massage, cleaning and treating my skin. The shop is clean and comfortable with a very professional student staff.

I’ve been to this place twice. I came across it while looking for a «hair school» much like the one Aveda has, which by the way gets 4 and a half star in comparison (Las Vegas location). This place is located in downtown Napa and has a slightly less contemporary feel than Aveda. The clientele for Le Mélange seems to be ladies in their 50’s and up and the students tell me that this is the age group that tends to be the ‘regulars’ at the Academy.
Service-​wise the students take their time; mainly because they are in fact still students and do not want to make a mistake. Some students seem to be more confident in their skills than others, while some seem to be under the watchful eye of their instructors. I got a color and trim done the last time I was there. During both of my experiences, they always seem to be a little hesitant when it came to cutting/​trimming my bangs. I felt like they didn’t spend enough time on them and personally I think the bangs are the most important part of my particular hairstyle — and they barely touched it. I was hoping for a little more «oomph’. I paid $ 50 for cut and color. I guess that’s not bad. Overall, I would only go to this place for minor trims and touch ups, but not for a totally new hairstyle or anything too dramatic.
By the way, you have the option of tipping but since it’s a school, it’s not required.
Tip: I strongly suggest you bring a photo of the cut, style, or color that you want when going to the academy.
Side note: My first trim was $ 9 and my hair is 5» past my shoulders. Not bad at all!

I have oiley skin and could not get treated from the normal lady in the pet area. So I picked the 1.5 hrs micro treatment and boy was it worth it. Did I wish it could be cheaper yes of course but I felt relaxed, lessed stressed and it totally help my skin issues.
The front desk girl also a student I assume was very nice and talkative and the staff dominatly female was all kind and courtous the whole time. As I said a bit pricy but they really do a great job, one gets what they pay for.

I just came home from getting an oil manicure from here. I had heard great things about this place and thought for $ 9 you can’t go wrong. Well, as the saying goes, you get what you pay for.
I had a 10:00 appointment and showed up 5 minutes early since I live just around the corner. I was greeted by a woman at the front desk who seemed to have much better things to do than to help me. She asked my name and told me to sit down and my manicurist would be right with me.
Fifteen minutes later (yes, 10 minutes after my appointment was supposed to start) my manicurist came to get me. She was very pleasant and friendly. She was a little nervous but that just made her even more patient and cautious of what she was doing. My manicure took about 30 minutes and she was done before I knew it.
When I went back to pay the same woman was at the front desk but was chatting on the phone taking a reservation and didn’t even acknowledge that I was standing there. A short time later another woman came up and asked me if I had been helped. I said no and she took my card and handed it to the first woman who rang my card through. She handed me my receipt and a pen to sign. I handed it back to her and she put it down — all the while still on the phone.
All the students I encountered were very personable and nice, but the «professionals» I had contact with were very rude and seemed as though they couldn’t care less if i was there or not.
Unfortunately I’d rather spend the extra money and go to a spa.

If you want a day of pampering on the cheap there is no better place to go. I recently went there and got a facial, Mani & pendi and go outta there for less than 70 bucks including tip. The facial was better here than at other «schools» as they at least try to simulate a real facial room, with a comfy bed, low lighting and spa like music. The previous time I stopped in to get my hair cut, it was a holiday and the school was closed but they still had a professional stylist available. Krista was a graduate of the academy and is nothing less than fantastic. I came out with a fresh dye job, new bangs, a sleek blow out and waxed brows for about 120… try getting that combo at any other so-​called professional salon for less than 250.00. If you ever need a kick ass hair cut or dye job, go see Krista… she’s a master not to mention wildly entertaining and accommodating.

I love this place! If it werent for my girl Ashley who went to this school and now works there i would not know what to do! I love the students and i lvoe the instructors! Everyone makes this place so welcoming! its amazing! You can never ever find a place like this just anywhere! the prices are great and the people are great and its truly the best experience!
