Good design and imaginative planning can often bring together divergent goals by good communication of ideas through graphics and public presentations. Among the firm’s specialties are recreational facilities, multi-family housing developments, affordable entry-level housing, and specialty/commercial complexes, including many of the Bay Area’s most prestigious addresses. Craiker Architects has helped create many below market rate housing and inclusion programs in an effort to increase the housing stock of many Bay Area communities.
History
Established in 1972.
The Principal, Chris Craiker, has practiced architecture in Marin since 1972, when he moved to the Bay Area to set up a branch office for an Architect.
Later on, he formed his own firm, Craiker Associates in 1980. the office was mainly located in downtown San Rafael, but now has relocated in Napa.
The company was one of the first architectural firms in Marin County to use a computer-aided drafting and design (CAD) system to increase efficiency and productivity.

Chris d Craiker AIA/NCARRB of Craiker Associates, Architects and Planners, Inc. has been designing, planning and building Multifamily housing for over 35 years through out Northern California and the Pacific Rim. As a Registered Architect in California and Hawaii specializing in commercial, residential, renovation and mixed use communities Craiker has won 30 prestigious Design and Planning Awards including the PCBC Home of the Year award.
Craiker has been responsible for more than 200,000 housing units across the United States and in Japan. For the last 20 years, Chris has specialized in designing, planning and renovating multifamily high density housing, including apartments, condominiums, high density detached homes and affordable housing projects for both profit and non-profit development teams. Craiker has created Community Renovation Associates to repair and rebuild aging condominium and apartment projects with projects in California and Hawaii.
