Cartons & Crates Shipping

Living in Massachusetts, it is challenging do ship wine home from Napa. Not only does Cartons and Crates have shipping options, but the have some, do it yourself options as well. We bought a travel case trolley (2 actually). It is like a duffel bad with wheels for a shipping container for a case of wine. It was economical, easy and got our wine how with us. The clerk on the weekend was very helpful. If you are visiting on the weekend, they are open on Saturday and Sundays.
We are very happy with Cartons and Crates ! It allowed us to bring more of Napa home with us than we had originally planned.

Just moved into Napa from out of the area, had a hundred empty boxes and reams of packing paper to deal with and thought it would be nice to give it to a local place who could put it to good use. When I showed up, the guy «in charge» pointed at a blue tarp in the back of the warehouse and told me to put everything back there. No help, no thanks, no nothing from the people who watched me make a dozen trips from my car in the parking lot to the back of the warehouse. They obviously don’t understand customer service and I will never use them myself and wouldn’t recommend them to anyone else.

As promised wine arrive within one week of shipping. None of the bottles were broken and all the wine were accounted for.

When you are stuck on a Sunday and need to ship wine home. This is the place that you can go before noon.
The person working on our visit was helpful. They had some used boxes at reduced prices which was nice.
We were able box every thing with no issues. The price was little more than what we paid for at other places ($ 2 more). And the price on the shipping and the insurance was a little higher than other places.
Though as I mentioned, nothing else was open at the time.
Our confirmation information is supposed to be sent by email and we are supposed to receive our package in about one week. They ship their packages via UPS, which is good for us as they are more flexible.
I will update the review after we receive our package.
As a side note, there was some knick knacks you can purchase for your trip home.

Have been here three times — first time service was great — second time my wife went in by herself and said that there was no one there to help her, she left — third time I went in alone, several employees working in back, one gentleman behind the counter on the phone. He would not make eye contact with me. Man and a woman in the office looked at me as I stood outside the office and then they looked away. Two employees stocking the boxes complaining about where they worked and how lazy everyone was. I left and will never return — I would not spend one penny to sustain a business like this one.

This is the worst place I’ve ever used to ship anything. Tried to ship 2 larger (but light weight) packages with them, but when they told me the charge was going to be over $ 500!!! I walked out and went right to FedEx on Lincoln who shipped them for $ 75 for the pair. Seriously? What kind of a rip off place is this? Oh yeah, and they were going to package the items I wanted to ship for me — and charge me $ 90, but just never got around to doing it.
If this is how you run your business, you better rethink — there’s lots of other places hungry to take your customers.

DO NOT USE THEM TO SHIP
Like the other reviews, I would give them a ‘zero’ rating if I could. First they completely forgot to send my wine for three weeks (similar comments made about the shipping label and their process for keeping track of these things). Then when they finally send it it had the wrong address. They refused to accept any responsibility and then told me that I would have to pay again! It’s been six weeks and I still haven’t gotten my wine. If you’re shipping anything valuable or have a reasonable timeframe in mind to receive your shipment then STAY AWAY from these crooks.

This nicest and most helpful owner. Staff is great too. Used them to ship all of my belonging cross country and they made it so stress free it was like therapy making a trip to c&c. Shipping wine is pricey no matter what and I believe c&c provides the best value.

I can’t begin to tell you how much I recommend the OTHER place, Buffalo’s more! I was recently in Napa doing some wine tasting — great trip as always. Went to C&C who assured me it was no problem to use my fedex ground labels that I had pre-​printed (from my fedex business account), to send my wine home. When I get there, everything was very laid back, easy to find and buy the shipping boxes from them, and we left thinking wow, we’ve found our new shipping place. WRONG! The follow through is where C&C absolutely was miserable. Dropped packages on Saturday ³⁄₃₁. When I still was not seeing any tracking info on Friday ⁴⁄₆ I was concerned and gave them a call. The guy on the phone says ‘oh, let me look and see if they are here, I’m not sure when Fedex picks up ground packages’. Thinking quietly to myself, how the **** are you a shipping business and you don’t know when Fedex comes to pick up?! He then tells me yes, they are still sitting here (ugh!). So they sat there all week and nobody did anything or noticed. So I say well, is there any chance you may know when fedex air picks up? He says yes, every day. I say ok, please print me some new labels for 3 day air to my fedex account, everything identical, just changing the shipping method. He says ok no problem, there’s a 5 dollar charge per label — cool, I think I’m set to go now, with only a 5 day delay. OH no, it’s just getting started! Wednesday ⁴⁄₁₁ I get a 3 messages from my buddies at C&C while I“m at work — my wine is apparently going to be delivered the next day, and they need payment for the shipping. HUH? I call up, they say, yeah, we never received payment for the shipping… I of course am dumbfounded and increasingly frustrated… I tell them there is no payment, I used my fedex account, and I checked my bank online and I was charged the processing fee for the labels. He says oh, well ‘somehow’ it went out UPS not fedex, and it will be $ 216 dollars. «which is a discounted rate» he tells me (!). Of course, it’s a discounted $ 216 MORE than I was supposed to pay, using my fedex labels! So I point out their mistake, and ask them what they are going to do about it, considering how long and how negligent they’ve been with my packages (containing lots of expensive wine)…NOTHING. They were not willing to do anything. I even offered to split the shipping cost (Even though it was not my mistake) just because I didn’t want my wine having to go all the way back from Cleveland to Napa, which was my other option, to cancel the shipment. I decided I wasn’t going to risk the jerks at C&C doing something to my wine, or having it on a hot truck for another 2 weeks before I got it back, and paid the $ 216. Incredibly frustrating. Terrible customer service and NO accountability for their mistakes.
Here’s the kicker, it’s ⁵⁄₂₁ today — and I had all but forgotten — I did receive my two boxes of 12 bottles each that I wrote about earlier — but forgot I had a separate 3 bottle package I had also shipped. It just arrived today! So my three bottles of Domaine Carneros famous gate pinot have been sitting from 4 – 1 to 5 – 21 at C&C. Un friggin real!
DO not use this place — go anywhere but here… Fedex kinkos downtown napa for anything but wine — buffalo’s trading post I have used in the past to ship wine, no issues whatsoever using my labels, etc.

The people that work here are always so friendly and helpful. I buy all of my shipping supplies here due to the great prices and great service I receive every time. keep up the good work c&c!

I dropped a shipment off on a Wednesday, was told it would be shipped Monday latest, still not shipped the Thursday a week later. Not good. The excuse? Something happened to the label.
I’m looking elsewhere in the future.

I needed to ship a bunch of bridal shower gifts to my niece in Texas. Cartons and Crates staff helped me pick the proper boxing materials and explained how to pack them so nothing breaks.
I shipped on Tuesday and they recieved the box on Friday. Every single item arrived intact and with zero damage.
I will definitely use them again!

Would rate 0 stars if that were an option. Do not ship with Cartons & Crates of Napa. They picked up my wine, then lost it in their warehouse for 3 weeks. They told me they didn’t have it. Then when the people they picked it up from called them they magically found it, then promptly shipped it in 90 degree heat. As one would expect, the wine was cooked and ruined. I had 2 phone conversations with the son of the owner Travis Holmes. He admitted they lost it in the warehouse for 3 weeks, but said they would not provide any compensation, in a manner laced with profanity. His response was that I was S-​O-​L, except he said the whole phrase. My expectations were that they would ship the wine when they said they would, and ensure it arrived in good condition, and understand that you need to watch the weather.

This place is mostly for shipping of art and other items you may wish to ship. They do have canvas’, a lot of paint, paper, charcoal and many other art supplies. Their student discount is lower than Fine Line in Sonoma and their prices are quite a bit higher than Michael’s in Vallejo. Of course that was comparing brushes and basic paints, you may get what you pay for but my friend was happy with what she was able to find.
They are closed Sundays.
