History

Established in 2002.

Great Point Properties was started originally in 2002 by Greg McKechnie and Bill Liddle, both of whom had previous experience with other island firms. Edward Sanford founded Sanford Real Estate in 2003. In 2007 Great Point Properties merged with Sanford Real Estate creating an organization of 17 full time sales people and 3 full time administrators. At the time of the merger we moved our offices to One North Beach Street, a prominent free standing in-​Town location at the entry of the exclusive Brant Point neighborhood.

As a strategic measure to grow sales, Great Point Properties developed a robust vacation rental business with nearly 800 properties and over 500 leases per year with a focus on exceptional client service, aggressively focused on maintaining online prominence and consistently invested in local print advertising. The direct result of these efforts has enabled Great Point Properties to become a leading sales office on the island.

Business Owner

Greg grew up in Malvern, Pennsylvania where he attended the Haverford School before attending Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut. A long-​time summer resident, Greg moved to Nantucket full time thirteen years ago. In addition to his strong experience with Nantucket real estate sales, Greg is actively involved in the community. He presently is serving as Past– President of the Board Directors for the Nantucket Boys and Girls Club. When he is not working with customers he enjoys spending time with his wife, Courtney, a personal trainer and Pilates instructor who operates a successful business out of the gym they built on their property as well as runs a Pilates and retail shop called Core next door to Greg’s office. Greg and Courtney welcomed their first child, Lyla Gray Mckechnie, into the world on December 2, 2008 and their baby boy Beau Jameson Mckechnie joined the family November 2, 2011. Greg enjoys early morning runs with his Black Labrador Retriever, Kaya in Sanford Farm.
