Established in 1998.

Kitty Hawk Watersports has been providing jet ski, kayak, sailboat, surfboard, and stand-​up paddleboard rentals, along with parasailing and tours to visitors of the Outer Banks for decades.

Business Owner

I’ve been a watersports business owner for 18 years and it’s hard to think of a better way to make a living. I get to be outdoors, meet great customers, make them smile, and mess about with boats.

My wife and I are the proud parents of three great kids and raising them on the Outer Banks is a true blessing.

In addition to being a business owner I am a P.E. teacher, licensed captain, and high school lacrosse coach.

The guys on the boat were great. However making the reservation was a bit difficult. We had specified when calling the number in our party but when we arrived we were told the total number in our party (4 parasailers and an observing toddler) could not be accommodated. Also, the staff doing the reservations were apparently supposed to weigh us and they didn’t. The boat guys seemed concerned about that enough so they called back to the reservation desk and advised them to ‘do their jobs’ — overall the experience was great, organization slightly less so. Also get there early, the initial location is different than the actual place you will do any of the activities.

Mitch and Chuck did a great job assuring those of us who went parasailing for the first time (7 out of the 9 who went). They explained safety procedures very well and were careful to make sure everyone was prepared and ready. They were funny and very conscientious! Highly recommend this business!

Had a blast! My family and I came twice while on vacation… The first time we all went paddle boarding, The second time some went paddle boarding and some went kayaking and everybody enjoyed themselves. The staff was friendly and the prices were fair

Wonderful experience! My family and I visited Outer Banks for the first time and we were looking for activities to do. This establishment caught my eye. Reservations were really easy, the staff were friendly and accommodating and very understanding of us not having a clue how to jetski and kayak. We had so much fun and we will definitely come back!

Took the family for some jet skiing for the first time. It was a great experience for everyone. Super fun. All the employees were nice and helpful and allowed you room to have fun. The vibe was low key. The designated area for riding was large enough to have a good time.

Came here on my anniversary with my boyfriend. Decently priced, and easily the most fun we’ve ever had. spent an hour riding a jetski in a large enclosure, and had a blast. The rules were simple and easy to follow. Is a must try for anyone whose never been, and i know I would definitely go back.

This place was fantastic. I’m vacationing in the Outer Banks with friends for several days. I walked to this surf shop from my hotel, which was only two blocks away. A one-​day rental for a surfboard is $ 30, with $ 5 for each additional day. (The price was exactly what I expected to pay.) I signed their liability waivers, paid and was on my way. The guy that rented me the board warned me to be careful of the shallow water on Nags Head (it seems all of the Outer Banks are basically one large sand bar). He said the most common damage would be a snapped fin if I rode too close to the shore. Of course, the next day, I returned their surfboard with a snapped fin. I was worried about being charged a lot, but it was only $ 15 for them to replace it. I would guess it happens a lot over there. All in all I had a great time in the water (the waves weren’t much, but it was only my second time to try surfing) and their service was great.

great prices but they were 2 hours late to drop off. When I called to find out what was up, the woman who answered was very indifferent and wouldn’t give me an eta. I was told by the owner it the paddle boards would be there by 9:00 and didn’t get them until 11:00. It would have helped if they would have let me know. Also, I paid for 3 full days and actually only had them for 2 ½ due their ability to deliver…
Boards were fine except one of the ankle leashes keep falling off.
On the good side, it was a great experience. We even paddled with a school of dolphins!

Went parasailing 7⁄31 with my daughter for the first time while in the OBX! Kitty hawk water sports made the experience awesome. Our boat captain and mate Chris and Brenden were awesome! We got the first beach ball of parasailing polo this summer!

We just finished our second adventure at KHWS in as many days (kayaking yesterday; parasailing today).
Prices are slightly less ridiculous than most other options in OBX, and the staff at KHWS is so helpful and friendly, you really feel like you’re getting more for your money.
We will be back here for all future adventures in OBX! :-)

We did the parasailing package for myself, my husband and 2 daughters (8 & 11). My older daughter is a bit timid and afraid of heights but the crew was awesome!!! My daughters loved it and would do it again in a heartbeat! Not scary at all! They have a natural ability to make it fun, safe and feel at ease! Highly recommend!

Parasailing with the captain and his mate, Brendan was amazeballs! They were hilarious and really accommodating, friendly, and glad we were there. I’m terrified of heights but it was such a smooth, calming ride, you never would have known! I would totally recommend this to anyone I know and will definitely try to come back again. We rented kayaks and took a sailing lesson. Great service and very personable staff. When the wind was too strong for us to get any use out of the kayaks that we rented for 24 hours, we were able to retroactively rent them for one hour and issued a refund for the balance.
Compared to other rental places in the area, their prices are on par.
