We went for it after reading the great reviews – it didn’t disappoint. I didn’t know what anything was, but we got tacos al carbon, and they were really, really great. Few menu items, good selection of bottled sodas, nice staff. I would try it again – I just wouldn’t go there looking for queso again(oops). $ 15 for 6 tacos and 2 drinks. The salsa was hot as hell and wonderful!

This definitely a sports bar. So imagine our surprise when the ranch chicken wrap and catfish were the best we have found in a long while. It will be our preferred meal stop in future when passing through Nacogdoches. Oh, and don’t forget those fries!

Sure its not fancy restaurant BUT food was amazing! Grilled chicken was well seasoned, crunchy outside and juice and tender inside. Tacos was very good and remind me the tacos I had in Mexico. Beans soup was good. We bookmarked this place and will go back again! Highly recommend!

Excellent authentic Salvadoran cuisine! No frills but extremely tasty food that was spicy, salty and affordable! If you’re looking for a change of pace from normal tex-mex this place is excellent. Try the papusas fully loaded with meat and cheese, and the grilled chicken asado!

We had Spanish speaking friends with us so I don’t know how good their English is but it doesn’t matter because the food speaks for itself! The hot sauce is amazing, the beans were good. The chicken had an amazing flavor and it wasn’t dry. I’ll be back for sure

Great place for a pollo asados fix. So much food for an even better price. The fresh pineapple agua fresca was delicious. I will back next time I want that good char grilled chicken with all the goods that go with it. Get past the lack of any ambience, it’s just not kind of place. The food is what counts.

We’ve been back several times since posting my original review, and it’s been great each time, but Nacogdoches is a bit far from home, so I wanted to try to make this at home. If you’re so inclined, this recipe is very close to what you get at La Braza. I cut the chicken into pieces and punctured them(a lot) before placing them in the marinade, and the result was delicious, and the leftover salsa verde is great on tacos or even as a salad dressing if you like your salad with a little zip!( ) Also, try the agua fresca of the day when you’re there, and the papusas(sp?) are pretty tasty, too.

Best spot to stop on the south side of Nacogdoches. Half chicken with onion salsa rice and beans.

Just driving through town looking for local restaurant. The category said BBQ, but this is more Mexican to me. We had the Pupusas and the half chicken. Both were excellent. The chicken was very tender. You walk up to counter to order and then food is brought to your table. It is «no frills» but worth the stop. Yum!

My first time here in Nacogdoches, and was tired of the fast food places so decided to try La Braza. Let’s just say this place will be seeing me on every trip to this town. The BBQ chicken is not the tomato BBQ you expect but the grilled kind with a mixture of spices that is to die for served with spicy homemade pinto beans and rice. Also, try the handmade pupusas they are some of the best.

I don’t care if this place is a front for the cartels, Texas Syndicate, or just doesn’t ever get business. I don’t care if nobody is ever there. I don’t care that they only accept cash. I don’t even care that I once watched some crusty old dude bring his crusty old dog in, set the dog on the floor, step up to the counter, and order 2 whole chickens(you order by the half or whole chicken… this is nothing out of the ordinary) while his dog crapped right there on the floor. If these trifling little details are the kind of things that drive you away from good food, then I’m pretty sure you don’t know what good food is. This is about as good as pollo asado gets. Perfectly cooked chicken, beans, and rice, and it comes with tortillas, a whole-grilled onion(the best way to cook an onion), and little quarter bags of some mighty fine, mighty spicy green sauce. Don’t untie the knot on these baggies. Just bite a little corner off of them and squirt to your heart’s desire. It’s an easy walk from any of the hotels south of the Loop on US59, and you won’t be disappointed.
