Sears Auto Center

This location used to be great and now it’s awful. For years, they were friendly, honest, and fast. In the last couple years, they have become rude, slow, and disorganized. After more than 10 years, they have just lost a loyal customer. Maybe it’s time for this auto center to get an overhaul.

Above and beyond. This place did a a great job on my brakes and rotors and saved me hundreds of dollars from based on estimates of local independent and chain businesses. The manager is very personable and went out of his way to accommodate me. I am very pleased with the service and price. My only regret was not buying my tires here as well the week before. I would of gotten a much better quality name brand tire at a great price and saved even more money. So all in all i had a great experience here and will return.

This North Attleboro location is the WORST Sears service ever — People are BS — they won’t take in your car even you made an appointment for it — they’d try to tell you that you have more problems costing $$ when somewhere else says its a small minor job. If you love Sears for a simple oil change/​etc — go to Natick Mall! They have the best honest staff!!!

If you can’t figure out whats wrong with your car, DO NOT bring it to these guys because they’ll probably make up some BS and invest your money in «guessing» on what they think is wrong with the car. This is the 4^th time I wasted coming to this Sears location (It’s a hell of a drive since I live in the Quincy area). The first time I visited, I purchased a new tire, which was ridiculously expensive. I took my car to another sears location and it cost me $ 100 less for the SAME tire strangely… The ripoff starts with the second visit. I take my car to get an AC refill since my AC stops working after 15 minutes or so while I’m driving and blows out warm air. When I get to the auto center I mention this, and they go on ahead and refill the AC, and then I swiped my card and leave. The next day I drive off to work with the AC and it goes back to blowing warm air again after 15 minutes of driving… So I call them and they asked me to bring it in to the «AC tech» for my next visit. During the third visit (which was a week later since the drive is so out of the way) the «AC tech» didn’t even look at my car and concludes that it needs a new belt for the compression. I know absolutely NOTHING about cars, so I expected them to be the experts and agree to get it done. Few hours later they finish the job, I swipe my card and leave. A day later I go and turn on my AC… the SAME THING happens again, it dies after 15 minutes. This is where I got really annoyed, I phone in and they say «bring it in» again. This time (4^th) they concluded that it was a «leak» and I explain to the guy that it can’t be because it works for a good 15 minutes. Then he responds with «Well that makes a HUGE difference we’ll check that out for you». Which was so stupid because I had told them that since DAY 1. They take 3 hours to diagnose my car and then I receive a call near closing time and the manager goes, «Yea, we’ve been diagnosing it this whole time and we are still not quite sure whats wrong with it, you may need a new air compressor and it not… something, something, yada, yada, and YOU MAY NEED TO GET ANOTHER THING REPLACED (This was where I stopped listening cause this was complete crap). I can give you an estimate when you get here». Outraged I responded with, «UMM NO, this is ridiculous I’m not paying you guys to keep on guessing whats wrong with my vehicle. Seriously? I’ve invested money in the refill and the belts and wasted money because nothing was wrong with them in the first place. I asked why they didn’t diagnose it the first time and he just goes» Yea, i understand, but cars are flawed and we can’t exactly diagnose these types of things until we try other options (like replacing crap that doesn’t need to be replaced and wasting my time and money until they actually can see which part is not working). At this point I was so pissed and wanted to tell him «No your AC tech is flawed» the guy didn’t even look at it and took a guess. By the time I got to the shop i was so upset and was ready to talk to this manager about the estimate and wanted to complain. I walk in and ask for him and the guys there tell me he went home and that I can feel free to call tomorrow. I wanted to complain to those guys, but they kinda shooed me off and said they knew nothing about whats going on with my car and that it’s best if I called him tomorrow. I am never coming back to this Sears Auto, it was a waste of time and money and I and just very upset.

I see a lot of older negative reviews. I’d say that my visit was a little different, which I’m guessing is a reflection of different management. Don was the supervisor on when I brought the car in. I explained the issues I was having, and he perfectly reiterated what I had explained, which goes a long way with me as I am a former mechanic with few resources when it comes to fine-​tuning a vehicle (i.e. alignments, specialized procedures, etc…). Regardless, I can vouch for Don that he has great customer service, and I’ll definitely bring my car back to them for some of these procedures. He didn’t try to sell me extra stuff, and he was very honest and cooperative when it came to the work. I can speak for them, but I can’t vouch for some of their mechanics, since I didn’t interface with them. The only small drawback, was that a part that was needed, was incorrectly ordered, as I was able to verify what was requested, vice what was received; not their immediate fault, so I can’t be upset with them, but it was still a little bit of a let down when I had to wait an extra day to get the car back. That’s why I gave them the 5-​stars.

I stopped in here on a Sunday, as it’s the only place around that’s open. The techs were all super friendly and upfront about the $ 80 fee for diagnosing the problem. They offered me the option of opening up a Sears credit card for financing the work in the case that it was more than I could afford. These are the positives and the only reason I don’t give the place a one star review. This is me being nice…
On to the negatives… They took my boyfriend’s car apart and couldn’t put it back together, resulting in us having to call a tow truck to tow it back to my house. They had said they’d work on the issue of the spark plugs and coils, but then called us back saying it was too big of a job and that they could not (or would not) do it. Hence, having to tow it home. We received a separate call from one of the techs looking to buy the car off of us for $ 500. That’s pretty darn shady. In fact, when trying to convince us to leave the car for $ 500 (which was quite the insult, as the car is worth a few grand), he mentioned it would be convenient for us because we wouldn’t need to call a tow, as well as convenient for him since he’d be able to fix the car right in the shop. Sooooo you can fix the car for yourself, but not for me? Hmmm. No sir, I don’t think I’ll be coming back anytime soon. Thanks, but no thanks.

I took my car here to be serviced because my check engine light came on. After dropping it off for something routine I received a call from a technician that It would cost about $ 1500 to fix the problem. I thought this was outrageous so I told them no and that would just take the car back. When I got there to pick up my car they had told me that they could not put my car back together without fixing it. So at that point my car was not even drivable, therefore leaving me with two options, getting it fixed there, or having it towed somewhere else. I decided to let them do the work so I left. I received a call a few hours later stating that they are unable to fix the car because it was too big of a job to do. Are you kidding me?!! So after them taking my car apart and not being able to put it back together I was left with 2500 pounds of scrap. I had to pay $ 79.99 for them to evaluate the car, as well as the tow to get it out of their garage!
As I am paying for the evaluation, a technician has the nerve to approach me and offer me $ 500 for my car! Are you nuts! The car has a blue book value of $ 3500.
I left this Sears very disappointed and angry with the service. To top it off on their receipt of work done recommends an engine replacement! Ridiculous!

Great guys did awesome work. I was paranoid because of the reviews but they’re open more convenient hours, fix ALL THE PROBLEMS as opposed to just the quick fixes and we priced very well. Highly recommended. They DID NOT take advantage but treated me fairly.

I stopped by Sears Auto to have a load test done on my car battery that I felt was on its way out — otherwise had no issues with regards to starting my car, keeping the AC/​headlights running etc. Autozone did a 20 second test a week prior, but I thought I would go to a professional garage.
Sears offered a 10 minute load test and the result was the same as Autozone. I agreed it was time and told them that I’d take a day to consider which battery of theirs I’d go with. A man named Alan Richards simply said «well you need to replace that battery». I again agreed but said its running fine enough and I’ll come back later tonight or tomorrow.
Before leaving the garage the car shut off three times. I thought maybe the test caused a drain or something and like a newly jumped car would simply need me to drive around for a bit to prevent that. By my first traffic light I realized this wasn’t the case. I managed to get myself down the road to a nearby garage, got myself a new battery and thankfully back to good.
I called Mr. Alan Richards to simply ask why the test would have done that, and how is it that they didn’t tell me that it could have such an impact on a bad battery? After all my test with Autozone a week earlier didn’t cause any impacts. The man was completely apathetic and unconcerned that he could have let me leave that way. He did acknowledge that the test caused me to leave with a car in worse condition than I brought it in, but simply that he absolved himself by telling me it needs replacing. Little did I know Sears’ test causes me to do so on the spot. IF IN FACT MY HAVING A BAD BATTERY WAS MADE WORSE BY A LOAD TEST, SHOULD THEY NOT HAVE ADVISED ME THIS COULD POTENTIALLY RESULT BEFORE HAVING THE TEST ON A BATTERY THAT I MYSELF STATED TO BE ON ITS WAY OUT?
The battery needed replacing. I thankfully got it done, and thankfully NOT at Sears. Never again. FYI — Autozone sells Duralast, which is manufactured by the same company that makes Sears DieHard. The Sears battery for me? — $ 220.00. The same cold rated battery with 2 additional years of warranty from Autozone? — $ 130.00.

Steve at Sears Auto in North Attleboro, MA will talk down to you. He mentioned I needed new tires. I told him I already know this, but holding off because I’m going to trade the car in for a new one in a few months. He pretty much ignored what I said and kept trying to sell me tires. After I repeated myself, he then told the technician that I am going to keep the tires because I can’t afford new tires. This Sears Auto Center is terrible!

Had 4 tires put on my daughters car with balance. The car was all over the road, brought the car back, she was accused of «hitting a curb». In fact she had hit a curb before the new tires (why we put on new tires) and told them. When she brought the car back 5 days later they checked balance, accused her of hitting the curb, said they had to replace a lug and said someone had removed the new wheel and stripped it– (no one had touched it). Told he she needed a new rack and pinion immediatly because it was leaking and very dangerous. She cried– they told her it was from hitting a curb since she was last there WHICH SHE DIDN“T! She cried more because they wouldn’t believe her, they pushed her to replace the rack and pinion for $ 700 right then and there. She called me I told her to take the car to a different front end specialist. They found NO PROBLEM AT ALL with the rack and pinion but noticed a frozen brake caliper and burned rotors. I had the new front end place do the work.
When I called the manager on duty of Sears he said that my daughter did hit something (she didn’t) and that the rack and pinion was bad– I told them about the 2^nd opinion and he got quiet then denied pushing her to do the repair.
Here is the crux of the problem. If you are young, female and inexpierienced do not go to the Sears in Attleboro, MA. They missed work that should have been done (brakes), stripped the lug and blamed her, tried to upsell her a $ 700 job she did not need. TRY A DIFFERENT SERVICE CENTER FOR YOUR CAR!
