Oceanfront Dining & Fishing Pier

History

Established in 1936.

Built by Julian Scarborough and St. Julian Springs in 1936, 2nd Avenue Pier has brought enjoyment to millions over the years. The pier was sold to the current owners in the 60’s when tourism gained a greater role in the local economy. Maintaining a thriving business on the Carolina Coast hasn’t always been easy. Hurricane’s Hazel (1954) and Hugo (1989) destroyed the pier completely and it was damaged by Hurricane David in 1981. Not to be discouraged, the pier was rebuilt and has seen the Grand Strand thrive ever since.

Changes also came in 2010 when the existing restaurant and tackle shop was demolished and the current structure was reopened on July 3rd of the same year.

Because the pier is privately owned, we charge a small fee to walk on the pier. Although we’d love to offer it for free, it would be nearly impossible to stay in business considering upkeep, property taxes and insurance. We appreciate your understanding as the piers in Myrtle Beach are not owned by the city.
