As others have stated do not let the outside fool you. This tour is a must see. The inside is a great place to hang out and the owner and crew are top notch!
We will do this again and again!

Great tour! Small, friendly craft brewer. I don’t like beer but I surprised myself and enjoyed all but one of their samples. Learned the logic of why canned beer is better than bottled beer. At 4:30 on tour dates (Tues & Thurs) anyone can come in to purchase pours. We would definitely buy their beer if we saw it on tap or in stores.

The brewery is not well marked at all, therefore our large group was literally TWO minutes late for the tour. They had locked the door and when we called to tell them our party of 7 was there for the tour they told us we were out of luck and had missed the tour. Ridiculous!

New South gave one of the most detailed brewery tours that I’ve ever gone on, and I’ve gone on a lot! The guide was very knowledgeable of the process and the tools used throughout the process. It’s not a fancy set up, or a fancy building … so don’t go expecting your typical brewery. New South is set up in an old factory building & area, so it’s pretty ‘bare bones’. The walking portion itself is brief, as they’re facility is small … but you gain tons of knowledge in that tour. And they give you a ton of beer throughout. 5 samples in all, probably 4 oz each. The white ale was decent, & I didn’t care for the brown nut ale personally. Where I think they struck gold is on their recently tapped Oktoberfest. That baby was AWESOME! I’ll definitely be looking for it this fall season in NC.

I was actually pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed the tour and beer tasting. I thought I would be bored out of my mind while my fiancé was in beer heaven but it was really interesting. Our guide and host Roddy is a funny delightful character and everyone makes you feel like you’re hanging out at a buddies house not on a brewery tour. Well worth a visit!!!

Visiting and this was a good stop… We came at 4:30 for brews and I had the Oktoberfest. It was so good I got a growler to-​go! Spent less than 40 for that, a soap and 3 beers. Not bad for a good time.

Awesome tour given by a great staff. The group was only about 15 people and everyone had a cool vibe. Beer samples were great. Definitely a high quality product. I recommend this as a fun activity if you have an extra hour or so in your schedule.

Weird industrial location is my only critique. Small. Friendly. Only open a few days a week, restricted by out dated conservative southern laws. Food truck outside, rotates on what kind of truck. I personally like food trucks, and it is a symbiotic relationship for them and the brewery. Made it there for the release of the Oktoberfest beer, which just so happens to be my favorite so I was a very very happy camper. That’s the only beer I tried because it was so good.

We visit Myrtle Beach every year for a family vacation and were pumped to find there was a new brewery in town to add to our list of outings. We were even MORE excited when we pulled in to the parking area and heard «GO COLTS!» shouted to us from the food truck parked there (we have Indiana plates). Turns out, Hoosier Daddy’s State Fair truck was there to provide tasty noms to accompany our beers (get the tornado chips!). The owner is a Indiana University Alum and fellow former Hoosier. FANTASTIC!
I always love to learn about how breweries vary from state to state and being at New South was an awesome learning experience. The owner and bartenders took the time to educate us on why we had to wear a wristband, what we could legally consume in a single sitting, etc. You could tell they were passionate about their product and fellow lovers of craft beers. We loved it! Our 17 year old was even allowed to sit with us in the tasting room area — just not directly AT the bar. Makes sense to me!
The cherry on top was when I spotted a dog face through the tinted office window. Being the pup stalker that I am (and missing my 3 babies back home), I asked the owner if the fur babies could come out and play. He assured me if we stayed just past closing that he would let them out and I could love on them. Loving on these 2 gorgeous GSPs was one of the highlights of my trip! Thank you SO much for allowing me to get my pup fix!
High points from our visit to New South:
– The High gravity selections ($ 3/​6oz pour): both were Lily the Great — a Russian Imperial Stout, one brewed in 2014 and one in 2015. Holy aroma, batman. WOW! We also loved the Foreign Stout (6.1% abv, 4.96% abw) and the Dark Star Robust Porter (6.2% abv, 4.96% abw). We took a growler of the Porter home with us and I was SO pleased that it was reasonably priced AND tasty!
– The staff was amazing — so friendly and knowledgeable. We were sorry that we arrived too late for the tour, as that is when you are allowed to «sample» the beers. We wished there was a flight option available, but when in a different state… it’s different! And that’s ok!
– The dogs. Did I mention that? :)
We cannot wait to get back there next year to see what they have come up with for us to try! We will also plan to catch the tour so we can go ‘behind the scenes’ to see their brewing set up. Hooooray for a Myrtle Beach option that is not putt-​putt or some random show!

Wow! This places gets packed at 3 for the tours so be on time. If you want to skip the tour show up at 4:30 — 6:30 for pours. Tours was fun even with a group of 65 plus people. THEY GIVE LOTS OF SAMPLES OF BEER DURING THE TOUR FOR FREE. As a craft beer lover this is a must do while I town. Awesome merchandise as well and very easy going taproom.

Went for a tour and tasting back in 2013, enjoyed it! Came back now July 2015 for some draft pours. It gets crowded but good service. Nice place. Awesome beers. I liked nut brown and summer session. Great place!

Hello fellow hopfriend’s, I do not know who are the people writing five stars reviews on here but I visited this brewery and here goes my reviews. If you want to visit a nice brewery, please I beg you to skip this place and heed to my warning. Let me tell you about my experience.
This place is a very tiny microbrewery, I wonder why they do tours. For it can only house (comfortably) 10 people. They kept almost 20 people inside their brewing area that was poorly air conditioned. This is a safety hazard, half of the people who got in left for they got dizzy and were sweating profusely. The orator Roddy, was oblivious of how hot it was as he kept on refilling his glass of brown ale. Maybe if he drank less on the tour and endured how hot we were he would have exhibited some empathy. maybe it is a southern thing, I am yet to know. No water was offered and later they offered their white ale. sorry to say the cups were not enough, hence most people left from the disappointment. They did not ask if everyone had a tasting, which I found rude but I persevered on to see how they conduct their tours. On later on the tour a bunch of tourists left to get air outside due to inadequate ventilation in the room. I figured they could not endure the heat where the fermenters were. I finally tasted their beers, the white ale, nut ale and IPA and to my conclusion was if this guys need to stay in business or competition they need to step it up. Maybe they are so lax for there is no competition in the south for craft beers.
Sorry Roddy, I have made better recipes of beers in my basement than what you have in your 5 fermenters. It was a disappointment coming to your brewery. I look forward to unique southern beers with unique recipes and not just replicas of the west/​east coast. Stop over populating your beers «tours» It would be appropriate if you did 5 to 10 people at a time. Please be human and be considerate. We are not animals, having lamenting this, do not keep admitting people putting red tags on their right wrists. Especially when you know you are past capacity it is a big shame. What will you do if your gluttony causes someone to become asphyxiated and collapse. Due to you over accommodating people like animals in a pen. Please address this please

Very much enjoyed this experience. Roddy was excellent to us. We didn’t even do the free tour or get free beer, I still say it was awesome ;)
I love a local brewery that has excellent beers year round.

The review is not for the beer — I’ve enjoyed what I’ve had — it’s because if you show up even a couple minutes late for the tour (we walked to the door at 3:04pm) you will be shut out. So, MAKE SURE you are there BEFORE 3pm unless you want to leave disappointed. Like me.

Strong smell of pine sol and bathroom… No post online that tour is ONLY at 3:00 Tuesday’s and Thursday’s. Waited 45 min only to find out that there was not a 2^nd tour! Man from tour yelled at people and told them not to try to steal their beer soap! Wtf??? Very disappointed!!! Will not return! Do NOT recommend!!!

Great atmosphere with very smart tour guides. They really take pride in their company and what it represents. Great selection of beer and good taste. Had a great time sampling and seeing how they brew their beer!

I have been to many brewery tours and this one for sure had both pros and cons to it. The information given at the tour is a little long and dry. It’s interesting to an extent but very detailed. It’s hard to hear what they are saying when the groups get so large and you’re standing the entire time. However they do have some tasty drinks. You get to try 4 kinds of beer and they seem to be full cups, maybe 8 – 9 oz or so. It’s a free beer tour where you can get 4 free beers from the deal. You honestly can’t go wrong.

This place rocks! We came by on a Wednesday, while on vacation. A gentleman came out to our car to let us know they were open but told us to come back Friday afternoon at 4:30 for beer tastings. We thought this was a great opportunity before going to the pelicans baseball game. And we were right. We sampled some tasty brews! They also had a food truck in the parking lot. He had some tasty eats!

A fantastic place. Great tours, tastings, and pourings. The beer is fantastic and this little hidden gem of a place has great atmosphere and the best, most friendly service. It’s like Cheers where strangers are one big happy family. We don’t miss a visit to Myrtle Beach without stopping for a tasting or take home a growler. The Nut Brown Ale is my favorite.
If you love craft beers you must go visit!

I have been to quite a few brewery tours and this one is close to the top of the list. Very entertaining and informative and the tastings
Are terrific. Living in NMB plan on taking visitors and an excuse to grab a few more tastings.
