Alta Surf Apts

Let me give any family with kids a HUGE warning stay as far away from Alta Surf apartments as you can!!! Not kid friendly at all! I live there for 6 months and have a 10 year old son. About 3 weeks after we moved in everyone in the complex received 7 pages front and back of NEW RULES. Rules included Kids cant play in the grass and couldnt play in grass around pool. Bikes, sckateboards, skooters are not allowed ANYWHERE ON PROPERTY. My son stayed in his room all summer because he was unable to do anything outside at Alta Surf where we lived. Couldnt wait to get out of this place it was horrible! Had another friend that lived there with 2 daughters the same age as my son and they got the heck out of there after 6 months for the same reason! She said her girls were miserable living there! Also I have never lived anywhere where you can actually hear your neighbor snoring in the bedroom next to yours! You hear everything. Very cheaply made apartments! The ladies in the office are very shady. Nice when you sign the lease then after that down hill!!! On another website they responded to this and LIED!!! Said kids just weren’t allowed to ride bikes, skateboards etc around the pool area. Such LIARS! The rules WHICH I DIDNT SIGN said not allowed ANYWHERE ON THE PROPERTY! Trust me do yourself a favor and go elsewhere. This place is a nightmare!!!

This is so late but I’m writing it anyway. I lived at Alta Surf back in 2011 (if memory serves me correctly). It was my friend, girlfriend, and I that moved in together sharing a 2 bedroom 2 bath place. The place was nice, really nice in fact for the price. We lived on the 3^rd floor which sucked but whatever, I knew that.
The troubles started when the electrical outlets on an entire wall of the apartment didn’t work. From the dining area all the way to the sun room. Couldn’t plug anything into the outlets. We had to run extension cords and daisy chain power strips to get power over there. I went into the office to request maintenance, the first they sent someone out he said the wall wouldn’t «support» such a huge power draw. So I asked…“why can the other wall support it then?” I mean, a TV and 2 computers isn’t «huge» imo. Well it wasn’t fixed so I went back and told them I needed it fixed. They sent someone else who fixed it, finally after about a month. They had this policy of «if your maintenance issue isn’t fixed in so many days we’ll deduct X amount from your rent.» Yeah right, that shit didn’t happen.
The next thing was the AC went out multiple times during the summer. EVERY SINGLE TIME the maintenance man was PISSED. He was pretty rude, like I fucked the AC up on purpose, yeah because I want to live in a sauna. Apparently there was some problem with a nut inside the thing coming loose. He tried to show me how to open the thing up to fix it. How about no, how about I call you to do your job. you know, the one you’re paid to do?
The other thing is their shady practices upon move out. I moved to Texas with my girlfriend and my roommate was left to finalize everything with the apartment. There really shouldn’t be anything left to do, you pay the last months rent and leave the place clean, right? Nope. Aparently, the apartment wasn’t left clean enough for them so they wanted to charge $ 450 for something. Well instead of letting us know they just sent the damn thing to collections. No phone call. No email. No letter (could’ve sent it to the apartment address, forwarding was set up). The collections people call and say I owe them $ 450 for Alta Surf, I ask them to show me what for, they don’t have any pictures or anything. Guess who took pictures before they left? My roommate did, that’s who. Guess who isn’t getting $ 450? The «debt» collectors, that’s who.
You people need to stop with you shitty practices seriously. If there is a problem you need to give people at LEAST 30 days to comply or dispute your accusations. You also need to itemize ANY and ALL repairs, cleans, or modifications done when tenants leave. Just because tenants don’t walk through a place with you at the end of the lease doesn’t give you licenses to charge them for whatever the hell you want. Especially not without proof!
Granted, things could be totally different now, I lived there a long time ago.

Club house is nice, grounds are clean, here is the catch. If you use the pool and invite family alta surf will tell them to leave, only allowed 2 people. They actually told my family and I to leave and go home, it was my mom, sister, and 2 younger brothers. If you plan on moving out before your lease it will cost around 3,800 dollars. Yes that is correct around 3,800, and then expect a bill for 200.00 dollars 2 months after you leave for damaged property you did not damage. And don’t be late with rent or it’s another 130.00 or so dollars. Living at alta surf is a great way to have your money legally stolen from you. I sincerely do not recommend moving here, always felt bothered by staff and uncomfortable. I never felt I was treated like a resident of alta surf, which meant a lot to my wife and I, always like an outsider.
