The main place where I purchase all of my meats. Great service and friendly staff but it can become crowded during the middle of the day.

I will never buy meat at a grocery store again!

I really wanted to like this place. It’s a local business that sells my favorite food group, meat. But that has not been the case.
I have had 3 experiences with O’Guirres over a span of several years and on all 3 occasions they were rude and acted as though I was bothering them. The first time was about 6 years ago when I was just beginning to get into cooking. I dropped by about 2:00 in the afternoon and wanted to ask some questions. When I asked what USDA grade their beef was, the first 2 people didn’t know and when they finally found a guy in the back who did (USDA Select I think, but it’s been a while), he seemed offended that I would actually ask that. Other questions met similar response so I left without a purchase. Strike 1.
Fast forward to 2011 and I decided to give them another chance. I was trying to find a local place that carried pork bellies so I gave them a call. When I asked if they carried pork bellies, I was put on hold and they came back and said they had never heard of «pork billys.» When I clarified, I was told no they didn’t carry them and they gave no impression that they would special order either. Strike 2.
The last experience I will ever have with O’Guirres came today. I called them about 4:35 pm and asked their hours. I was told 8:00 — 4:50. That seems odd I thought, but I headed that way anyway. I pulled up at 4:48 and the place is closed, with covers over all the windows so you can’t see in. There were 5 cars out front so I knew there were people in there so I waited. When the door was unlocked for a customer to come out, I tried to catch the employee’s attention, but she slammed and locked the door. I knocked and she opened up a sliver and I explained I worked until 4:30 and couldn’t get there before they closed so she let me in. Their selection is the same as any supermarket with pretty comparable prices. All their beef is housed behind the counter where you can’t see it, and for the life of me I couldn’t find a price or selection list. I was being given the impression from 3 different employees that I wasn’t welcome so I grabbed some homemade sausage to try and went to check out. They only accept cash which I didn’t have on hand so no dice. I was quickly ushered out and the door locked behind me. Strike 3.
All in all, a poorly run local business with great potential in a good location. I will never be back.

This is the place to go to get your meat!
Price is so much better than in your traditional grocery store. Meat is fresh. Staff is friendly and helpful. You can either get packages or just steaks… best ribeyes! I like that I can get them cut how I want them.
