The Integral Ballroom is much more. Our creative blend of fanciful expression and focused discipline enables people just like you to improve the fitness of body and mind through the joy of ballroom dancing. Individuals and couples have great fun learning the Cha Cha, Rumba, Swing, Waltzes and more. Our unique approach helps people enhance relationships with others and bring balance to their lives while providing a healthy and invigorating escape from the tensions from their daily routines. At Integral Ballroom, we offer Ballroom Dancing Classes, Private Ballroom Dancing Lessons, Kids Dance Classes, Fitness (Zumba), and Wedding Dances.

History

Established in 2008.

Since the early 90s, Luanne O’Brien has adopted an integral lifestyle approach that involves health and fitness of the body, mind and spirit. In 1998, in an effort to find a fitness program befitting of this philosophy, Luanne began to study ballroom dancing and has since created dance programs to help others experience the joy and fitness of this ever-​increasingly popular art form.

In 2006, Luanne began teaching International and American style group classes for adults, as well as developing a curriculum for elementary, junior and senior high school students. The focus of her dance programs is to teach ballroom dance and etiquette to students of all ages. Since she began teaching, Luanne has taught over 4000 students of all ages with incredible success.

When she is not teaching, Luanne volunteers her time promoting the art of dance as Director of Dancing with the Celebrities of Pittsburgh, an annual event which has raised over $ 250,000 for local Pittsburgh charities since it began in

To date, Luanne has trained with internationally recognized professional champions, participated routinely in group instruction, performed student/​teacher exhibitions, competed as a professional in dance competitions and maintained a vigorous daily practice schedule.

Similar to the human adventure, dance is ever-​changing and evolving. To avail her students with the most current, up-​to-​date experience possible, Luanne’s dance prowess is strengthened by her continued private training, group participations and practices with her professional partners.

As an amateur competitor, Luanne partnered with her husband, Joe, in the United States and Canada. They competed in International Waltz, Tango, Quickstep, Foxtrot and Viennese Waltz, as well as International Cha Cha, Samba, Rumba, Jive and Paso Doble. Professionally, Luanne has competed in International Standard events.
