History

Established in 2010.

This pizzeria was founded in 2010 as «Primo’s Pizza» by a local resident with the intention of helping several struggling unemployed people that he knew.

After three years in operation we discovered that the name «Primo’s Pizza» is a trademark of Primo’s Pizza International. In compliance with their wishes and out of respect for their property rights in mid 2013 we changed our doing business as name to «Martel’s Pizza» after the newly born son of the owner.

Martel’s Pizza is still dedicated to helping the unemployed and making a difference in Murphysboro.

First review but have been here several times. Pizza is always excellent. Completely different flavor from other brands but really good! Service is quick. They don’t have tea available. They really need an unsweetened tea.

I was more than a little bit weary about stopping at this place. The outside didn’t look promising and the inside solidified my opinion. They didn’t do much as far as interior design goes, but there also wasn’t a line and I was starving. My husband and I ordered a medium Hawaiian pizza with no ham on one half (I’m always the difficult one). We waited about 10 minutes and they brought our pizza to our table. I immediately opened the box, scooped a slice of pizza and shoved it in my mouth. It was crazy hot, but hit the spot and was only $ 12. If I find my way back down south and crave a pizza, I would definitely come here again.
