Learn 2 Shoot Handgun Training Academy

My wife and I attended class with Dennis. My wife had never handled or fired a handgun previous to this experience and she learned a lot from the class and instruction provided by Mr. Mankin. He is able to teach the basics from safety to real world experience to newbies while also being able to keep those experienced shooters engaged and interested throughout the training.
If you are a new shooter or an advanced marksman and considering a handgun permit for protection of yourself and your loved ones I would highly recommend Learn 2 Shoot Academy. Dennis is able to keep the class interesting, informative and light all at the same time. From basic handgun handling to aiming and targeting he covers it all. In every regard Mr. Mankin is a dedicated professional who conducts himself accordingly at all times.
As a professional ex law enforcement officer with over 20 combined years of experience I found Dennis to be one of the better firearms instructors I have trained with. Definitely worth the drive to Murfreesboro.

Even thought i had been around and handling firearms for a long time i found the class to be very informative. The class room was first rate with enough class time and range time to feel that i can be better prepared for carrying when my permit comes thru. The instructor was very knowledgeable and willing to not only answer questions but help with honing of my skills. I can not wait to check out the new laser pistol training and some next step classes Dennis has. Thanks for the class and i highly recommend both him and his class to everyone

I enjoyed the class and Dennis was great. Only bummer was that the shooting range was an additional 45 minutes away and we didn’t really get time for lunch.

I’ve been through the handgun permit process before in Texas, so I wasn’t too thrilled about obtaining my Tennessee permit. I found Learn 2 Shoot online. They were running a $ 50 special (I think it’s normally $ 100), which was definitely the cheapest price I’d seen by far. Other reviews I found also gave high praise to the instructor, so I thought I’d give them a shot (pun very much intended).
Learn 2 Shoot has an easy online signup, and I got an email confirmation almost right away. I also got a text message reminder a few days before my scheduled class. You can pay in advance online, but I opted to just bring cash the day of. The drive from Antioch to Murfreesboro wasn’t too bad, although the gun range out in Woodbury made for a long drive home. No biggie, at least it was scenic.
The 8-​hour course was sure to make for a long day, but Dennis actually made things really painless. It was actually a lot more enjoyable than my first class in Texas. He says that he speaks three languages: English, Southern, and Sarcasm. You’ll definitely hear all three over the course of the day. In addition to the safety lecture I expected, Dennis also went through the technical aspects and parts of handguns, both revolvers and semi-​autos. I consider myself an experienced shooter, but I actually learned a few new things and got some really helpful tips on improving my accuracy.
This was a much more personal setting than my Texas class, which probably had 50 or 60 in attendance. With only 6 of us present on Wednesday, the instruction felt more individualized. Learn 2 Shoot also offers some advanced and tactical classes, which I’m definitely considering. I’m also hoping to talk my wife into signing up for the Ladies Only class, because I think it would be a great instructional course for her.
