Days Inn & Suites Murfreesboro

Don’t know why this place has so many horrible reviews. I took the chance and was in for a pleasant surprise. We were taking a quick stop in Tennessee on our way to San Antonio and just wanted an economical, comfortable hotel and this was just that. Free wifi, free continental breakfast, and free parking. The pool and fitness centre was closed when we were there but not a big deal. Hotel was extra spacious, and had a microwave and mini fridge. Also HBO if you watch tv. Working heater and AC, huge bathroom with a clean tub for a hot bath after a long drive! Yay! No complaints. The staff are friendly, too :)
This hotel is also located in a nice area with target, Walmart, chick fil a, McDonald’s, baskin Robbins, and more all around. Also plenty of gas stations. An ideal stop if you are in the area!

I guess I can’t complain about this hotel itself but the female staff members I dealt with made the fun in a hotel experience nonexistent. First of all the maid… (who did not speak English AT ALL and had her two little boys with her which I really don’t mind, I understand, just saying, it’s kinda awkward when you’re in your underwear and the door opens with a little boy standing there) … knocked/​fully opened our door at 9am– we were not ready for housekeeping at that time but we’re getting up. We left the room an hour later and since we did not see her in the hall, asked the front desk person to let her know we were ready for her to tidy up, we needed towels and trash emptied. The woman kind of rolled her eyes and said she would let her know. I didn’t think this was an unusual or unreasonable request given we stayed for three nights. When we returned at 5 PM house keeping had not entered the room again.
After a long day in Nashville I was looking forward to a bath but the hot water was not running out of the tub. I called it downstairs to the front desk and the woman seemed annoyed that I was having an issue and seems not to believe me. She then said that all the rooms run off the same hot water heater– which I don’t think is possible — but when I offered to let her come into the room to see for herself she said she did not see the point because she went into a room downstairs and the water was working fine. We were on the third floor. Further, there is a bathroom with the small tub and then there is a Jacuzzi in the main area. (Price difference!!) The water in the small bathroom tub in the bathroom was running hot but the Jacuzzi was barely lukewarm. My husband was kind enough to fill the small bathroom and using the trash can fill out the large Jacuzzi tub for me. The Jets on the Jacuzzi did not work either.
It wouldn’t have been the worst thing to not have a hot bath but the front desk persons of noxious and irritated attitude at me for calling to say I had no hot water was what really bothered me. There is a sign in the bathroom that says if you forgot a toiletry item to call downstairs and they will provide one. I asked if they had toothpaste or a Q-​tip and they had neither. The next day the guy who was at the front desk found toothpaste and was very friendly. Basically the woman was rude and for $ 95 a night in a middle of nowhere kind of town you think you could get some basic courtesy and some hot water in your tub…
Also she did not enter our Wyndham rewards # /​points and now I have to somehow track down the receipt and send it to Wyndham corporate to receive our points.
The pool is under construction and there is only ice on first floor at complete opposite end of the hall from the elevator.
I would call first and see if you get a bitchy woman on the phone unwilling to accommodate any questions you might have before booking a room… There’s a bunch of other hotels in immediate walking distance in this lack luster commercial intersection.
I doubt management reads these reviews but if you do please reply even with a tiny comment, it would let us know someone is trying… We are at another Days Inn in Chattanooga tonight and it’s a very pleasant stay… It all depends on the people

First of all we understand this is a days inn no frill place more like a motel. If you can get a room here which varies widely in price based on whatever is going on the in the area for under 90 bucks I would say it’s worth it based on everything else is more expensive. They have a sign saying the exercise room is under renovation but I’ve seen the same sign for the six months I’ve been coming here. The breakfast is absolutely one of the worst you can get basically nothing edible. The bed however is comfortable and the rooms are somewhat clean if you’re on a budget I would say this is the place to go if you can negotiate a good price. If you have to pay over hundred dollars don’t bother shop around. Don’t bring a woman with you here you won’t impress her I only come when traveling alone to save a buck.

We had a quick overnight stay. Rooms were clean and beds were ok. Carpet was worn and needed restretching. Breakfast was a real disappointment. Choice of oatmeal, toast, Raisin Bran, and Fruit Loops. They also had a couple of oranges and apples. Probably a 2.5 star at best.

The Days Inn Murfreesboro is a textbook example of «you get what you pay for».
The location is great for travelers and there are lots of dining options nearby– including some lesser known chains to allow some variety for dining. The parking is also convenient with a covered drive up entryway which is helpful since it seems like every time we are in TN it rains.
Both times we stayed here to/​from SC the room had a strong smell of pool chemicals, which we guessed was because they seem to be in the process of re-​modeling the indoor pool area. We asked when they might have the pool renovation done and the person at the desk said that they have no idea since it is a part of the overall renovation of the hotel. Based on reviews by other Unilocalers, it would seem that the pool area has been closed for at least 9 months. I don’t think that I am exaggerating when I speculate that the entire building was probably built from scratch in less time.
The «weird square pillows» mentioned by another reviewer actually unfold so just fiddle with the «squares» a bit and voila, a normal, if somewhat thin, pillow.
The bathroom/​shower areas at least on the first floor rooms are spacious and clean– we had to use the trash can to prop open the door to «air it out» as the bathroom door has a self-​closer on it.
Both times that we stayed here in July 2015, it rained. When it rained the Satellite-​based TV went out either entirely or partially. The Internet access seemed to be negatively affected by the weather also, with the Internet connection being dropped in synchronization with TV signal outage.
The included breakfast bar is nothing to write home about; cold cereal was the main item offered and I got excited that they had a pot of hot oatmeal with brown sugar and raisins. I should have held my enthusiasm in check because the pot was nearly empty and the oatmeal tasted like it had grease or gravy mixed in it– I could not stand to eat it and I don’t feel I am a picky eater. The juices were very watered down, the apple juice was more like water that had been in the same room with an apple. It ticks me off when I have to maneuver around and wait for employees of the hotel to dawdle putting in their cream and sugar after getting a cup of «free» coffee at the breakfast area and this was the case here. The obvious question is why aren’t these people taking their break in an employees only area? Some re-​training is apparently needed so that they understand that the complementary breakfast is provided for guests rather than employees. The last straw was a family that was in the seating area for «breakfast» that had rudely taken EVERY table and chair available in the breakfast area and put them together just for their use.
This location seems to have a lot of potential– I hope that after their renovation is complete that the owners/​managers address the points above and this could be a great place to stay.

For what it was, it was nice. We had a clean and comfy room. The breakfast wasn’t great– but for the price it wasn’t a bad deal. Bring your own pillow– they only have weird square pillows.

This place was truly disgusting. We stopped to stay over from driving from Florida to our home in Illinois. It smelled funny, it was dirty (we had to switch rooms the first time around– dirty microwave and fridge, walls are dirty, and the beds are not very inviting. The bathroom was gross too– had to wash out the sink with soap.)
It’s cheap, but I would prefer comfort over how cheap it is. Totally not worth the money. Never again for us.
