Description

Specialties

We teach owners how to train their own dogs. Our training methods are simple, effective, and help dogs and owners communicate better. Our balanced and motivating, attention-based system makes training enjoyable for both the dogs and the owners. We offer basic/pet/manners training, therapy dog and handler training, and our unique niche in our area is competition obedience.

History

Established in 2007.

Paw & Hand began in 2005 as a vendor at dog shows, selling training equipment to obedience handlers. Canine massage and chair massage was added in 2006, and in 2007, the vending was dropped as Lana began to offer pet obedience training classes in her yard and house, and in-home training in clients’ homes or businesses. Competition classes began in earnest in 2008 and 2009. In September 2012 the training business was moved to our first commercial space, which had previously been a garage and office for a small car dealership. The space was small but Paw & Hand students earned quite a few titles from training at that little building! In August 2015 we moved to 4800 sq ft of space on 405 Highway, Muncy, PA. We now have one full-size ring, and a smaller ring, and plenty of crate space. We also have central AC, heat, and an indoor bathroom. We are now offering more services, such as obedience matches, trials, workshops and seminars, and therapy dog and CGC testing.

Meet the Business Owner

Lana K.

Business Owner

Lana has been training animals since she was 12 years old, first horses and then dogs. Lana has had dogs her whole life, but officially «went to the dogs» in 2004 when she began formally studying and training in competition obedience under Betsy Scapicchio and Linda Brennan at Top Dog Obedience School in Flanders, NJ. Since stepping into her first competition ring in 2006, Lana has earned 38 UKC and AKC titles on 4 different dogs. Lana is passionate about obedience training, and enjoys teaching others, figuring out how to solve training problems, and helping teams to be successful.
