Cammack Station

We’ve been here several times. It’s a destination when we’re riding our motorcycles as they have the best Cokes with vanilla, cherry and chocolate syrup ever! (And crunchy ice.) They have two separate areas for grill food and ice cream. Their hours are limited during the winter, so check before you go. (Closed on Mondays and Tuesdays Winter Hours.)
My date got the fried bologna sandwich! A blast from the past. He got a tasty side of fried mushrooms and then a chocolate Coke. I had the burger fully dressed and a side of tasty onion rings with honey mustard sauce. We were definitely full. Free refills on the soft drinks. It’s not over the top food, but the ambiance of the place is a walk down memory lane if you’re old! Old gas pumps as this is a former gas station. Andy Griffith playing on the «TV» in a loop and old signs, bottles, steering wheels, a juke box – it’s like going into a museum minus the dust. We were remarking how clean it was and how it must be tough to dust all the memorabilia.
As we were leaving we spied our HS English teacher (retired) who was there with friends. We stopped to chat and that’s the atmosphere here – friendly and a good place to meet friends. It’s a little off the beaten path, but worth going to for a fun destination. (Just outside Muncie, Indiana.)
Try the tenderloin, the fried mushrooms and if you love Cherry (or Vanilla or Chocolate) Coke, definitely get one. I’ve heard people love the ice cream but I haven’t had room for it yet!
And if you’re hankering for a fried bologna sandwich, try it on the Texas Toast!

We loved our free samples. I went with birthday batter ice cream on a sugar cone while my mom, visiting from out-​of-​state had more of a sampler.
It was an exciting dessert stop along the way as the place had a lot of atmosphere with the «gas station» artifacts. If only the jukebox worked!
It’s on my list of places I must return to!

Cammack Station offers amazing burgers, fries, and milkshakes for the Muncie/​Yorktown community. They are an old establishment that had been around for years.
Order at the counter, wait for your name to be called.
They do not accept credit or debit so stop at the atm before you visit!

Hamburger’s are so so and the Breaded Tenderloin is not really a good representation for Indiana’s State Sandwich. Fries were hot but you could tell they were of the frozen variety, Mot really thrilled. I probably will not return. The main problem was when I asked if their pork tenderloins were white mean the girl at the counter looked at me like a deer in the headlights. If your going to serve Tenderloins know what your serving.

Cute little place just a short drive off the highway. Neat décor and friendly staff. Got the breaded tenderloin over all really good. Thick and juicy tenderloin. The Texas toast was a nice touch breading could have used a little more season. Place has some cool options for burgers too.

Service and food were great. PB Explosion all I can say is Oh my goodness WOW. For a place that is off the beat and path it is well worth the trip. We’ll take you back a few years.

Once again we were terribly disappointed in their service. Our other visits during the Summer were greatly improved from the previous year. .. now it’s back to the same poor service. Disorganized ordering process (a day 1 employee on the register at dinner time! Really??) — had to repeat ice cream order (a sundae and a milkshake) 3 times and then the employee still needed assistance to get it in the register (no one near by to help). Other, later orders were taken to the ice cream area to be filled before ours — people literally walking in, placing an order, and receiving their order while we’re still waiting. Finally gave up and requested a refund which was a process in itself! We were offered 2 $ 5 vouchers for another visit which I was going to accept but once the Shift Leader said it’ll be a couple of minutes, I gave up. That after she called me «Honey»! How condescending! Felt I’d wasted enough time. I must admit we rarely eat there secondary to their high prices for OK food and lengthy wait. Getting good ice cream has been our primary reason for a visit in the past couple of years. And I have, in the past, phoned my ice cream order in on the way there so it would not take forever to get it (and usually still had to wait!). If we do ever go back, guess I’ll try that again. I do love their décor and outside seating in a quaint town.

Is it healthy? No, but it sure is good. The place to visit when you’re nostalgic for the deep-​fried goodness of the State Fair. Love the fried pickles. Outside seating is wonderful on nice days.

Never got anything here that wasn’t GREAT !!! Even their ice cream is wonderful!!! Took my whole extended family here, & they handled it, & all were pleased. I go every time I can; especially evenings.

My wife and I stopped for lunch on a whim after seeing a billboard. It was a little out of the way for us but worth the stop. The chocolate malt was the highlight of lunch. The onion burger was very good too. The French fries are not much to brag about. The ambiance with 50’s motif was fun.

Good 1950s, 1960s atmosphere. Food is good, too. Only had the cheeseburger this time, need to try the breaded pork tenderloin sandwich next time.

This place is good if you want a hamburger that isn’t cooked all the way through, basic food at a high price. I’ve had better food at a lower price, their sodas aren’t that great either McDonald’s has better soda and their milkshakes are expensive and nothing special. The atmosphere isn’t that great either, it’s dark and cluttered with tacky 1950s memorabilia.

This place is as good it gets. It’s a short drive from Muncie, IN and well worth the 40+ minute drive from Indianapolis. This quaint shoppe will bring back memories for all ages. Cammack is a beautiful brick building, with an old refurbished gas pump in front, and a menu you’ll stare at for 10 minutes because «everything sounds good».
Another user said «this is not really a restaurant — this is an ice cream shop that also serves food». Although this place serves tremendous Ice Cream, I respectfully disagree. The Ice Cream is Blue Bell sold at any local grocery and with such a large kitchen, Cammack could build a much larger food menu, but keep true to the «station». A quick place to grab a bite to eat, a soda, and an ice cream. If you want a Sundae or a Shake, go to Cammack Station. If you want a sandwich or burger, go to Cammack Station. Truthfully, you can’t go wrong here, but this place shouldn’t be remembered as an ice cream first type of diner.
I ordered Pete’s Onion Burger, and it was easily the best burger I’ve had in a very long time. I just wish I would have gone the extra step and made it spicy. Usually onion rings are onion rings, but the rings here knocked my meal out of the ball park. If you came here for the food, save room for a shake on your way out to really cap off your experience.
The inside is cluttered with old décor that will take you back in time. If you’re nostalgic of the first 50 – 60 years of the 20^th century, this place will be your heaven.
My first 5 star goes to a place that gives you everything you would expect and more. Great service, great food, and a great experience

Awesome décor. Great food. Great desserts. And honestly very reasonable prices. Fountain drink flavor additions are free and a nice touch. Nothing too spectacular though, thus the 4 star rating. Only takes cash, which is weird. Will come again for sure though.

I’m in a tenderloin state of mind of late. Me and Pops find ourselves back at Cammack Station. A busy Sunday lunch, but tables available. Lots of people getting ice cream and their hand dipped, old fashioned mixed milk shakes.
Remember — this is not really a restaurant — this is an ice cream shop that also serves food.
We saunter to the counter and quickly place our orders for 2 tenderloins tricked out with everything and a shared side of onion rings.
One of these days I’ll work over the menu — today is not the day.
Our loins arrive sizzling hot — crispy, steamy porcine goodness. Thankfully not skimping on pickles, onions, tomato or leaf lettuce. Pops pronounces (stealing another moniker): it’s a sandwich that eats like a meal! Slather it in mustard at the table — kick back and watch Aunt Bee on the screen loop — and realize this is what the good ol days looked like in living color — not black and white.
I’ve been here several times and I always question myself, «Did I turn on the right road?» Yep. South on 600W from 332 (McGalliard), cross the tracks, turn back to the east — and drive 60 years into history. Yum.
Our shared onion rings were HOT, fresh and barely salted — though easily fixed at the table. Served with a side of ranch (who dips rings in ranch? — use mustard people).
Best tenderloin award? Doubtful, but a very good entrée from an ice cream shoppe. I’m doubtful that the loin was tenderized and breaded onsite. It wasn’t beaten to a paper thickness — had a nice body and chew to it and the breading was fairly light. It’s definitely a tenderloin — NOT a Pete’s Pride production pork fritter either.
Water to drink — $ 15.50 tab. Not cheap eats but perfectly acceptable and we will be returning.

This is the worst food I have ever eaten. The burger is horrendous and the onion rings are completely tasteless. Even the coke is not mixed properly. You will still eat here after this review. Then you will bite into that disgusting frozen patty and think to yourself, damn that SOB on Unilocal was right. The people that work here are untrained and don’t care.

I had the BLT and onion rings. The onion rings had literally no flavor. The BLT was the worst I have ever had. The butter used to toast the bread made the sandwich taste bad. There was a small amount of bacon and it was rubbery not crispy. The building is decorated nicely. They also do not take credit or debit cards. I sometimes wonder about cash only businesses. This restaurant is on my banned list.

Every time that I make it back to Indiana, one of my very first stops is always Cammack Station. They make good old fashioned comfort food the way that your grandmother would. And they do an awesome job of it!
The milkshakes here CANNOT be beat. My only complaint is that they don’t always have chili, even though its always on the menu. (Correct me if I’m wrong.)
I love the atmosphere, especially since the expansion. I’m a huge fan of any place that wants to run Andy Griffith around the clock.
If I ever move back, I could see myself eating every meal here, just to see if they run through all of the seasons, not to mention the delicious food!

Cammack Station is a really nice addition to the Muncie/​Yorktown area. I love how they have regentrified the old Cammack Station and turned it into something really cool.
The food choices are sandwiches and salads that you might expect to find at a Soda Fountain back in the day. I had the grilled tenderloin sandwich, which I enjoyed and my husband liked his burger. The fries are real and tasted great.
Next to the fountain drinks they offer cherry, vanilla and chocolate syrup to mix into your drink as you like. I made a vanilla coke, which was delicious. My husband and son were pleased to find Red Cream soda as an offering.
The service was quick and friendly. If you are up in the Muncie area, it is worth a trip out to Cammack. BTW… Cammack is on Jackson, in between CR 500W and 600W. It is just south of McGalliard (Hwy 334). On your way into Muncie if you are coming into town from I-​69.

Where does a gal from Hawaii go for vacation? Muncie, IN, of course! The in-​laws live in Muncie and grandma took me to Cammack Station. The décor from the outside was super cute, it looked like I lived in a simpler time.
Inside, it was really homey and I’ve never been to a place like it before, considering I’ve lived in an international city all my life.
I told the girl behind the counter to make me her favorite thing on the menu, which she said was the chicken sandwich.
It was THE BEST chicken sandwich I’ve ever had. After lunch, the hubs and I met up with one of his old high school teachers and we just HAD to go back that same day to try their milkshakes. Chocolate and mint chocolate chip… just as awesome as their sandwich.
Now I crave this place in the middle of the night. I want to hop on a plane, sit in a cramped airline seat for 10+ hours just to eat chicken sandwiches all day long in a cutesy, homey restaurant.
