I’ve never taken classes here, but the campus has progressively become more aesthetically pleasing over the past 15 years.
To be honest, the university has a lot of problems — but so does every other university in the United States. So comparatively, I give it 5 stars.

The most racist and anti-​somatic University in the Midwest it’s really pathetic the way they treat students here, do yourself a favor and don’t go to school here, they have a rulebook that is over 200 pages long literally, and they like to «Conveniently discriminate» meaning, excessive disciplinary action, usually applied to people of a minority group such as Jews, homosexuals, African-​Americans and latinos and Hispanics. they will trespass you for the slightest offense if you’re Jewish or black! attending the school for 32 days was the worst experience of my life as a Jewish man! There’s absolutely no diversity at all! The school is filled with a bunch of ignorant Hicks Who have no knowledge of other cultures besides other people from the country (rural area) and have no interest in learning about, cultures different than their own. I can only continue to pray for socially quality at Ball State but I doubt it will ever happen. I was trespassed from the campus five days after the holiest day of the year Yom Kippur, and I doubt that it’s a coincidence, ball state, Did nothing but offend my culture, my heritage, my religion, and everything I stand for and hold most dear in my life! this school at no point made any attempt to accommodate the cultural aspect that is important to me, that I have known and cherished my whole life, and has been passed down from generation to generation in my family for over 3000 years. The school only provides a good experience for white born-​again Christians.

Terrible experience with Rochelle and Julie at the student health center today. $ 60,000 in tuition, 2 grueling years of nursing school, and a cross country move later to California to which I landed a nursing job oh to find at the last minute they needed my tdap record. I thought oh perfect it was required for nursing school. I was told I needed to sign a release of health information and the record could be faxed to me no problem. Turned out, Julie and Rochelle are programmed like robots and refused to fax me the record. This led me in a state of tears to the local minute clinic where I was treated by the most empathetic nurse and restored my faith in human kindness. Shame on you health center!!! Perhaps you should reeducate your staff on what a health disclosure authorization form means and what constitutes a HIPPA violation!

I graduated from here in December.
Because of this place, I have met my best friends, met my significant other and gave me a life that I never dreamed of having.
If I was going to choose anywhere to put me in a lifetime of death-​gripping debt, I’m glad it was Ball State who did it.

GO BSU!

I’ve been going to BSU for several years now and I find the programs to be stimulating and the faculty top notch.
I am critical of the new banner system. This is supposed to be our portal to scheduling, classes, and payments. However it does not list final exam schedules and this has caused some serious confusion. Not something I want to deal with during finals week. Trust me.
The food is kind of Meh and while it is possible to eat GF and V on campus it gets repetitive. They don’t separate out fryers so there is very little that is truly GF.
Still, I’m not there for the food.

I must say BSU was a great place for an education. Today, it has only become better for students. Students have more options and opportunities today then we did 25+ years ago. I am proud of my degree from Ball State! If I had children, I would want them to go to BSU.

Great college with small class size and a large college feel. The campus has undergone some major renovations and additions in the past few years and it looks great! The greek system is decent and I would recommend it but if you are not interested you will still feel included in the school as their intramural program is very good.
I have a degree from Ball State and it has served me very well.

Find another school that you can transfer into and still graduate a semester early. They really do all they can to get all your credits to transfer in. TCOM program is tops.

This school was absolutely incredible. I will say, of the experiences that my high school friends had in college compared to mine– I feel like I had an absolutely exemplary experience.
The campus is absolutely gorgeous– even though they seem to have endless construction projects, however that is a fantastic problem to have! I was in the MCOB for the Entrepreneurship program and it was the greatest time, and also the most difficult program I will have ever gone through. My MBA courses aren’t even to the caliber the Entre. program was for me. I was a double major in HR, which was also very challenging and extremely interesting– a perfect pair with Entre!
The faculty and staff on campus are some of the most welcoming, helpful wonderful people you will meet. I didn’t have a single instructor that I can honestly say I didn’t «like.» There were some outstanding ones, that is for sure (Dr. Mike Goldsby, Dr. Jen Bott, Dr. Sheila Smith) but all had their unique qualities that helped me gain the confidence and knowledge that I am able to confidently say prepared me for the workplace and beyond.
If you are debating between BSU and IU… BALL U! The class sizes and personal attention at BSU is completely incomparable!

I spent two years at Ball State after I transferred from another college. I was really excited to get to know the seemingly vast campus and its people.
Ball State’s faculty and students are a diverse group with people of many colors and cultures.
The instructors have a lot of great knowledge to share with their students. Just as with most educational institutes, BSU needs to redesign it’s programs to fit learning more information and more important information in a short amount of time. I thought at first that I was just disinterested in the work accompanying my classes, but it turns out I was just bored with how slow everything was going. What do we really REALLY need to know when we get out into adult life?
The worst thing about BSU is that it claims to be at the forefront of technology and the like, but it is so far behind in recycling. Those in charge of the dining areas were unresponsive to requests for recycling.
It is great that BSU is now a smoke-​free campus, but they should be just as interested (if not more-​so) in recycling everything and becoming the most efficient campus in the country.
Overall, my experience with BSU was a wonderful one. I wish I could have been there for all four years of my college experience!

Ball state sometimes gets a bad rap with some people (especially in-​state), but really the architecture, teachers college and journalism departments (among others) were all really well respected in their respective industries when I was there (graduated in ’97).
It’s a great college for a mix of great teachers/​classes, a good amount of social activities (that you don’t have to be part of a fraternity to enjoy) and some good sports teams.
It’s a big university (not huge) but a small close kit feel.
