Smart Service

We won’t take our vehicles anywhere else. They fixed my possessed and horrible older Subaru, worked on my husband’s Honda (and let us know when it was time to part with it) and are honest, reliable and friendly every time we see them. We have two newer vehicles now, so they see us far less, but we won’t even let anyone else change our oil. If you need a good car repair shop, this is it!

I love Smart Service. In fact both locations are great. I used to use the location on Ballinger Way, but I moved and was glad their other branch wasn’t too far away. They always keep a good eye on the working condition of my car and they always have detailed notes about it on file. They always tell me that I should think about repairs I might need in the near future, but they let me know that I can wait on certain things and not have to spend the money. Tom is warm and friendly and last time I was in there they were playing orchestral music of pop covers which I think is palatable for any type of person. They’re Kuerig and coffee selections are also excellent. If you have a Subaru or need to have a used Subaru inspected before you buy it, these are your guys.

I was lucky to land at Smart Service when I found myself stranded on the freeway in Everett with no clue where to tow my car. It turned out that my engine failed, and Tom treated me with kindness and empathy, giving me advice on what to do as if I were his daughter – not just a client. I spent a lot of money, but felt that they went above and beyond to make sure I got the best outcome in a tough situation. Plus, having a loaner car for the week was a true blessing! To top it off, last week my check engine light came on and I had the guys at the Shoreline store check it out. When they told me it was a sensor that would end up costing me another $ 250, I broke down and explained how frustrated I was, considering how much I’d just put into my car several weeks before. The next day when I got the sensor put in, the guys here in Shoreline told me they’d put a call in to Tom, and Tom told them not to charge me for the sensor repairs! I truly couldn’t believe it… I was beyond thankful and so touched by their heart and compassion. This company has great people working in it, and although it’s never fun to spend money on our cars, I am grateful to have a shop like Smart Service to take care of me. They truly seem to care about their customers, and that is a rare gift to find in a company these days.

Let me start off by saying this place is super clean and comfy. I haven’t been to such a nice mechanic shop before. The manager, along with the mechanics on site were extremely helpful and nice. They helped me out beyond what most mechanics do. Not only did they diagnose my car, they took me into the shop and showed me different engines and where my problem is and what we can do. Hands on is always nice in this industry! They back their work and are genuinely in this business to help people out! Anyone who owns a Subaru needs to only take their car here!

I have been going to these guys ever since I got my first Subaru. Never once have I felt shorted on the quality of workmanship and the one time I had an issue with a rebuilt motor I got from another place that they installed for me they got the car fixed and handled all the info with the other place I got the motor from. They now take care of my wifes car now as well and I know both cars are in good hands when I need anything done that I cannot do myself.
To a tribute on the quality of their workmanship I live down south and I have driven to both their locations for work over going to any other place; my faith in them is that good and driving a few extra miles I don’t even bat an eye at it… and the only time my car needed a tow I *my fault* I paid the extra money to get it to these guys — the quality of the work is worth it at very fare prices too!

I came here just for an oil change, but will certainly be coming back for any major work too. The staff are very friendly and knowledgeable. They don’t mind answering any questions and check the vehicle over really well. The waiting area is comfortable. It stays cool inside when is warm out and they keep a Keurig machine in hand for any caffeine needs you may have. Also they are setup with toys/​art supplies if you need to bring your little ones with you. I didn’t use it, but they do have loaner cars available if you need one. Definitely recommend!

Exceeds my expectations across the board! Great service, fair pricing, great quality! I’m always greeted by name. I won’t take my 2 Subi’s anywhere else!

I always go here for my major maintenance services or major repairs for my wrx. Staff is knowledgeable, honest, and friendly. Their rates are good because they don’t charge you your first born son for services like the dealerships. Would recommend to all subaru owners.

I had received recommendations to use Smart Service by both my Subaru dealer as well as other Subaru owners. Last week I scheduled an appointment to have my 30K service performed on my Outback XT (for record, I was 13K overdue for that 30K service.) Tom, the site manager of the Mukilteo facility answered the phone within two or three rings, was very pleasant, and scheduled me at a convenient time. He also indicated that a free rental was available to me as part of the major service coverage.
I took my car down today to drop it off first thing in the morning. Tom introduced himself and made sure that the rental company was on its way to either pick me up or deliver my car. They told me that my car would be ready on time at 4 and they would contact me.
Forty minutes before my car was expected to be ready, I received a follow-​up call from Tom indicating that the car was finishing up and that everything looked good. No effort to upsell or try to get me to spend unnecessary money. He indicated that they’d have it ready for me on time.
I returned to the facility where Tom was helping another customer, and the mechanic, Dan, who serviced my car walked through the entire inspection, what he looked at, what he did, and gave me feedback on every single piece of the walkthrough. From the percentage of brake wear, to the adjustments he made on belts and hoses. He also covered its current emissions output, explained the numbers, and was very positive.
The price was very reasonable — comparatively, about $ 100 under what the dealership would charge. Dan and his peers are well certified beyond the standard, and their labor rates are very competitive.
Additional pros — their website provides service coupons, as well as updates to their giveaways. To show thanks to their customers who opt for their license plate frames (free to anyone) they raffle off free things to customers even if they’ve not come in for service that month.
Personable, professional, and did an excellent job. The little things I normally notice with my car were tightened up and improved. The car itself performs the same (as expected) but the little things they did are noticeable to me, as I spend a lot of time in that car.
