Quality Inn

We checked in a little late but the front desk staff was friendly, helpful & efficient. My husband is a light sleeper so we always request a top floor. They said that they were very full but to accommodate our request they upgraded our room to a suite at no extra charge.
It was a maintenance nightmare:
–The toilet in 1 of the 2 bathrooms didn’t flush
–the sink in the kitchen drained slowly
–entry door latch didn’t work unless you messed with the inside door knobknob.
–deadbolt didn’t work at all
–at 3am, we discovered that the AC in the bedroom didn’t work
–window in the bedroom extremely hard to open (at 3am too)
–the shower rod in the upstairs bath was barely attached causing the curtain to slide to the center
–the mini-​fridge froze our food & had no apparent adjuster dial
If you decide to stay here, be sure to check the room over before it gets too late to do anything about it.

We wanted a place to stay for a quick tulip visit. We loved the staff they were so sweet and accommodating… but…the hotel is old, the beds are hard and lumpy and you can clearly hear the freeway and trains all night long. We wanted to be near the pool, it might be quieter in back.
The pool was warm; the hot tub was nice and hot, although there was sand the bottom of it?
There are ashtrays mounted to the walls as you enter the elevator, which smelled and an odd assortment of random furniture stashed in the halls.
Breakfast was fine; a good selection of food. Arby’s was right across the way within walking distance so that was nice.
Even with the sweet staff I don’t think we’d choose this one again.

When you roll into a motel lot at 1am, your expectations change a little. You don’t care about the fitness room or the TV channel selection. You DO care about the bed.
The night clerk was pleasant and helpful, and the property and room are clean. But it was stuffy and warm when we entered. Beds are very comfy, but the only blanket options are single sheet or add the comforter which is appropriate for an Alaskan winter. The bathroom is pretty cramped, but clean and functional.
All in all not too bad on its own, but kind of disappointing for $ 130 a night. It’s not like we are in Seattle.

I’ll give this place a 3 for in its type.

The room was clean though a little musty smelling upon arrival but I’ve been in worse for the price.
Lots of pillows and an updated flatscreen TV with decent reception and channels for motels of its type.
The continental breakfast actually decent. Had a better assortment than other motels I’ve been to at that price.

I stay with choice hotels frequently. This hotel is an embarrassment to their brand. We drove all the way up from Seattle after an early flight from California for a wedding and tried to check in. I have never had a problem with early check in. The lady at the front desk was rude and said check in time isn’t until 3. I asked if there was anything she could do since we drove so far, haven’t slept and need to get ready for the wedding. She made a 10 second phone call to the «manager» and then came back to inform us that we could check in early if we pay half the day. There is no way I intend to pay $ 54 just to check in a few hours early. Especially when their hotel looks deserted and only had 2 cars on the property. I asked to speak to the manager. She walked away, came back 2 seconds later and said, he says he is busy and he can talk to you later when you come back. I left and called choice hotels customer support where they accepted my complaint but told me unfortunately that location is a franchise and can make their own policies. If I wasn’t going to get charged already I would certainly cancel the reservation and go stay elsewhere.

Wow this hotel totally ruins the name for the brand quality inn. The carpet in the room was so disgusting. Stained and almost black when it’s suppose to be green!!! You can see the black water stain on practically the whole room!!! The room is very small. At least there is clean sheets. The breakfast bar is not too bad. But biscuits tasted like bread. The boiled eggs are super cold. There is waffles. Some cereal and cinnamon buns. Food is mostly prepared already so there’s minimal cooking involved. The coffee taste like water. I would never stay here again.
I stayed at other quality inns before and all of them were very nice and clean and true to the brand. This hotel is a disgrace to quality inn brand!!!

Awful. Please read the true story of our crummy treatment by this hotel. Our reservation was for a non-​smoking room as confirmed by our reservation number. When we checked in we were directed to Room 316. We were not told that it was a smoking room. Shortly after checking in I went down to address the clerk on duty about the smoke aroma in our room. The clerk on duty was Karen. I told Karen that I thought that our room smelled of smoke. She checked the records on her computer and assured me that Room 316 was not a smoking room. But, she offered that if we left the room for 20 minutes that she would have it de-​ionized. She said that she had recently de-​ionized another room and the customers were then happy after she had done so.
I went back to the room and told my wife what Karen had said. My wife told me that she was sure it was a smoking room, otherwise why were there ash trays in the room. I went back down and told Karen that we definitely think that Room 316 is a smoking room because of the smell AND the ash trays. Karen assured me that it wasn’t a smoking room, but said there had been this new clerk at Quality Inn who handed out ash trays to customers that wanted some and that’s probably why the ash trays are in the room. She said that this new clerk had been told to not do that anymore. I took her at her word. I told Karen that we would be leaving our room shortly and that she could enter the room to de-​ionize.
When we returned the room still smelled of smoke though the de-​ionizing machine was plugged in and the ash trays had been removed. I took the de-​ionizing machine back down to the office and gave it back to Karen. She asked me if the de-​ionizer had helped. I told, «no, not really» and left.
On Sunday morning I approached the hotel manager, Eugene and told him of our troubles with our room that we thought was a smoking room. Eugene instantly told me that Room 316 was a smoking room. I went back up to our room and produced our reservation which I showed to him that promised us a non-​smoking room. Eugene proceeded to check our confirmation records and told us that a mistake had been made and that we had been put into a smoking room. I then proceeded to tell Eugene the essence of my experience with Karen, which is laid out above. Eugene told me that there would be a credit to our credit card bill and that an e-​mail would be sent Monday, August 17 confirming this. No e-​mail or credit was ever received
Since we got back home we have spent literally hours trying to get the «cigarette smoke smell» out of our clothes and luggage. We have had to wash all of our clothes and luggage. Even our toiletry bags smell of smoke, as do all the toiletries kept within. We travels with a special orthopaedic memory foam pillow for a bad neck. The foam portion of that pillow is now poisoned with cigarette smoke, which we have as yet been unable to remove despite having tried several remedies. 5 days later and this $ 100 pillow still reeks of cigarette smoke.
The day after our stay we wrote a detailed e-​mail to the hotel manager, Eugene and followed that up with a print out of the e-​mail which we faxed to the hotel manager. There has been no response whatsoever to our request for action. We have contacted the Quality Inn corporate office, but no one there has responded either.
This is the type of treatment which we received at the hands of Quality Inn. We paid $ 143 for one night of this kind of treatment. I have never written a negative review like this and usually try to shrug off bad experiences. We’re not picky, but feel that hotel staff should tell us the truth and treat us honestly. You judge the facts for yourself and then make your own decision about this hotel.

Horrible. Horrible room, horrible staff, horrible smell… sleeping in the car would have been the better option.

Bad service and dingy room. No cups or glasses. The room really smelled for a «no smoking» room. They didn’t seem concerned about it. The morning breakfast staff makes you feel like you are just on the way. The pool room was really smelly with little ventilation. a book would melt in the room. Overall a very unwelcoming stay after they had my money. Next night stayed at the Best Western College St. They did it right.

Ninety degrees & no a/​c. Bed was comfortable & they sent up three noisy fans, but when in motel that you get a bad nights sleep, two stars is generous.

This was one of the worst hotels I’ve ever stayed in. We were trying to decide between this place and another nearby hotel and called to confirm the pool would be open and operational only to find it was freezing when we went down to swim. We reported this to the guy at the front desk who offered us a whopping (not) $ 10 off our room. Half an hour later, he knocks on the door with a thermometer in hand saying they had taken the temperature in the pool and it was actually «2 degrees warmer than it should be» and informed us we would not be getting the $ 10 off after all. Nice customer service.
We originally booked a King room, but were told upon check-​in there was a problem with that room and were given a room with a Queen instead.
The room reeked of old cigarette smoke, including the mattress which I noticed when I woke up in the middle of the night face down. Gross.
Then, to top off the gross-​out, we noticed several stains on the bed skirt which looked like dried blood. We mentioned this to the guy at the front desk on checkout and all he had to say was, «Oh, sorry about that.» He said the exact same thing when we told him, all in all, it was a horrible stay for us.
They obviously don’t give a damn about their guests’ satisfaction. We will definitely NOT be staying here ever again.

My husband and I were very much satisfied with the excellent, friendly customer service here. The rooms are very nice with lofts that include a kitchen and other amenities, and the breakfasts offer a wide variety of healthy choices. When I left a bag of purchases behind, they cheerfully offered to mail it to me. I heartily recommend it for anyone looking for a comfortable stay at reasonable prices. This fact that it is close to the San Juan Island ferries is an added bonus.

I stayed in a 2 bedroom suite here. The rooms & kitchen are outdated but the bathrooms appear to be newly renovated. The room stenched of an old motel and I found stains on the bedding & bedskirt. When I requested new bedding from the front desk, she asked me to come down and pick it up because she is the only one working. The breakfast offered is very limited but the lady working there was very nice.

Have stayed here twice. It is one of the few (if not only) places in the area with an indoor pool (essential for a stay in western WA). They have a good little pool/​hot tub area, decent rooms with lotsa lights. Breakfast in the morning isn’t the usual continental kind. Biscuits & gravy, a cool waffle iron to make waffles on, etc. Not spectacular, but not just cereal & muffins, either. Drawbacks-​1^st coffee carafe ran out, no replacement for a while (!!), and there were at least 2 times when no one was at the front desk for a good while. Other than that, a great place. And «dog friendly,» too!
