This is the third time I have used United for moving. They packed all the small items that were to be moved. Then when I received occupancy permit to move into the house they managed to get me moved in short notice. Loaded truck one day and then moved items next and unloaded. I don’t know when I have worked with a group that is so willing to please! I know it is there job but they continued to smile even in the pouring rain. New hardwood floors protected and that sure is important! One item would not go up stairs so they tried outside deck. Got it upstairs but would not fit inside door. No problem will take apart, with a smile. The item is now in the room. Every item is labeled with a sticker and accounted for upon arrival. What a pleasure it was working with this company!

I have had several moves and have never been happy with my movers. So, needless to say, I was very unhappy I had to have a mover at all. I got their name from Angie’s List and they had excellent reviews and were insured. I got an estimate from them and another mover. The other mover wanted to charge me almost $ 2000.00 more, had a deductible on the extra insurance I wanted to take out and kept putting a moving in date within a WEEK of them picking up my furniture. I was going from PA to Delaware. I wanted it in the next day. And apparently they didn’t have exclusive use of their trucks and I would have had my stuff loaded in with other peoples. No way that was going to happen. I hired Jack Treier and they packed all my things in one day, came back the next day to load and were finished loading by
2pm. And getting up my driveway was no small task. I lived on the very top of a mountain, up a gravel driveway with «some» turnaround room. They showed up the day of the move with a 36′ truck and a smaller one, just in case they had to shuttle the furniture down to the start of the driveway to the large truck. I had to close my eyes as he was turning the huge truck around because it scared the hell out of me. I have a drop off at the edge of the driveway. But he did it and I must say, I was impressed. They didn’t need the smaller truck and I wasn’t charged anything extra for that even though that wasn’t in the original estimate. The driver just wanted to be absolutely sure the move went smoothly and there weren’t any unplanned for surprises, so he brought the extra truck. The next day they showed up bright and early in DE to unload for me and were done about 1pm. Everything was delivered in excellent condition, nothing was missing and the three men they had doing the move were EXCEPTIONAL. The previous owner had left some furniture in my new house and they had no problem moving it around for me and making sure everything was the way I wanted it. They even took her old washer, dryer and stove that she left in the basement and put it out on the curb to be picked up for me. They were pleasant, polite, professional and a pleasure to work with. As was everyone I dealt with during the move. I can’t say enough good things about them. And the price was very reasonable. I would highly recommend them.

I have used Jack Treier for two moves over the past few years. I will continue to use them if the need arises. They are timely and efficient. The last move I had multiple stops to make and it was a seamless process for them. The movers were experienced and friendly, while making sure to keep things going at a good pace. I have recommended them to others and started using them due to a recommendation from a friend. They have a stellar reputation.

Prior to knowing about Jack Treier Moving, our business had a terrible experience with another company. Fortunately a friend recommended we give these guys a try… They were well equipped to transport not only our expensive office furniture, but also laptops and other delicate electronics. They have all sorts of special packing materials, to ensure nothing is damaged. From start to finish, we were able to effectively collaborate the move in a very professional fashion, which prevented much feared downtime. If you’re planning to make a big move & are counting on someone getting the job done right, this company won’t let you down.

We did a local move with Jack Treier and had an estimate for an interstate move for which we ultimately selected someone else.
Steve Treier was the estimator on both moves and he does great work. He’s friendly, very straightforward, asks good questions, and explains things fairly well.
The local move went well. Pickup and delivery were as expected. There were no surprises with price. There was little damage.
We chose not to go with them for the interstate move mostly because of price. They came in about 20% higher than the company we ultimately contracted with and had the highest price of all estimates we received. Had the price been lower, we would have gone with Treier again, and I have no problem recommending their services.

We had an excellent experience with our move across country.
From the start, our moving estimator was professional, as were our movers themselves, at both our old and new homes.
But the stand-​out hero was the person who communicated with us during the process, who gave us regular updates on both vehicle and household goods, and who said that if at any point we were unsatisfied, to let her know and she would be happy to make sure we were 100% happy.
We did run into one snag which was a moving truck that had not arrived by the time expected, but when we called to get an update, our contact made certain that they were on their way (they were 15 minutes late, so not a big problem). This one snag was handled extremely professionally by our contact and so we ended up feeling supported and in great hands during our move.
During the stressful time of moving, it was so helpful to know that if we did run into any problems or delays, we had a main point of contact whose main role was communication with us.

We recently moved a grand piano across country using these guys. On both ends, the movers were extremely professional and knew what they were doing. It was clear they had moved many pianos before. They were extremely careful and did not take any shortcuts any time during the loading/​unloading.
Jack Trier arranged everything, including bringing in specialists to tie down the hammers to avoid movement during shipment. On the delivery side, the guys were very proficient about getting the piano into our home and set up the way we wanted it.
The piano arrived in pristine condition, no scratches or other damage. They took great care in wrapping it in blankets and then in plastic.
Jack Trier/​UnitedVanLines also arranged a smaller delivery truck, and transferred the piano to it from a large moving van before delivering to our home in the mountains. Other moving services we checked out didn’t want to deal with this.
I also liked the ability to check the progress of the move each day online via the United Van Lines website.
I would definitely recommend these guys and United Van Lines for any type of move.

We used them for a move through United Van Lines. We packed our own boxes, but their movers disassembled our furniture and put everything on the truck.
The estimate process was very easy, and we were able to set a price at that time which included everything — no chance of magically «owing» more money at time of delivery, so that was a major fear put to rest.
The pick-​up was a day late. Not ideal. To their credit, they were very up front about this, and communicated with me often. Two days before the move, they began calling me to update me on the status of the truck. We used container shipping, so the container was not there yet.
The movers were… ok. There were two of them, and they were very nice, though not very professional. My biggest complaint is that they loaded a tv box (which said «THIS SIDE UP» in very large print on the side) upside down. It ended up ok, but I was not happy when I saw it during unloading. They also didn’t use any of the protective floor covering, bumpers, etc. so my floors were filthy afterwards. Luckily we were cleaning the carpets anyway, I guess.
I will say their office staff is awesome. They were great at staying in touch with us, answering questions, and helping us with minor things that pop up when moving.
A couple pieces of furniture got some dings in them, which is a bummer, but nothing was broken, our stuff arrived 3000 miles away in our new home (mostly) undamaged, and I didn’t owe any extra money on delivery. That’s as good as I dared to hope, and I got it. Yay.

We had a moving date promised and then suddenly they reneged on it. When explaining I was upset and why, all I got was a «Sorry». Nothing about trying to make it right or helping. Just «Sorry».
I would stay away from this company and find another one. If they are willing to throw away a $ 2000 move with just one word, I can’t imagine how the would act after we paid!

We went with this company because we had a long distance move (Hershey, PA to Miami FL) and we are both VERY busy to deal with renting a truck and doing it ourselves. So we splurged on what we thought were professional hassle free movers to make it easy on us. HA!
I went along with them bc I previously used United van lines from Detroit MI area to Hershey and they were fabulous (contractor was Corrigan movers).
Jack Trier should not be allowed to be part of United if United wants to uphold their promise of quality and hassle free moves.
I am coming on here to write my review 4 months later because I am STILL furious about my experience, and I deal with the inconveniences they served me until NOW. My blood boils every time I remember our move!!! Or see the evidence of their unprofessionalism with our few but treasured valuables.
First of all, the agent who came to me guaranteed me that upon arrival of the movers on our move date I would be given an EXACT date and time of delivery in MIAMI. This was a critical thing for us as my husband works in a hospital, has no vacation and I was 7 months pregnant at the time, and who wants to be stranded in FL waiting in hotels/​motels for their belongings to arrive. Id also like to add that Allied Vanlines offered to give me an exact delivery date as soon as I booked (and they successfully did this as promised for my other friend who also moved from Hershey PA at the same time), but unfortunately I opted to go with United simply bc I used them before and had a good experience. Little did I know that Jack Trier is full of conniving, unprofessional staff. Needless to say on our move out date, they had no info for our scheduled arrival and we were furious and my husband called the headquarters and manager to address this and we were led to believe that our shipment will most likely arrive in 3 days. Our mistake was believing them and not canceling our move right then and there. Had we sent them back to their warehouse and loaded our things onto a rental truck we drove ourselves at that point, things would have turned out a lot better. Long story short, we received our things exactly 2 weeks later, the latest they are allowed to deliver. OUr loader/​driver quit in the midst of the drive, we lost track of our shipment and had to KEEP on calling and following up to make sure things were coming.
Secondly after we accepted the fact that we would just have to waste a lot of money on hotels and dining out, and eventually sleeping on the floor of our unfurnished apt, we were disappointed to find our things were damaged upon arrival. Minor damages perhaps, but I am so careful with my things, that I can accept anything less than PERFECT condition. Which is what you should get when spending over$ 3000 on small move. We only had 1 bedroom worth of furniture, but each piece is VERY valuable and expensive. Our expensive leather couch was carelessly scuffed with white marks as the loaders had thrown the cushions onto the sidewalk as they wrapped up everything. Our expensive, brand new king size mattress which was supposed to be packed into a mattress box professionally to protect it from moisture and insects was jammed into 2 twin boxes instead with gaps and openings. It was not closed from the top and as a result the mattress was scratched and marked with dirt. I am super germophobic and cannot stop thinking about what insects could have gotten into the box as well! Gross. One of my side chairs’ legs (wooden) was severely scratched and damaged with a huge dent!
Lastly our beloved laundry hamper, also pricey for a hamper, was missing pieces to assemble it back together. I had to request the unloaders search again to find all the parts. Finally they did, except for one WHEEL. Which renders the hamper useless because its now lopsided and cannot roll to my laundry room!!! Which honestly infuriates me every time I have to LUG the thing to the laundry room or it topples over in the bathroom because I had to add a make-​shift wheel that doesn’t properly fit.
Bottom line, none of these things should happen from a company that hails itself as PROFESSIONAL and HASSLE FREE. It was the most hassling and unprofessional experience for us, and extremely stressful throughout the entire process. On top of all that, Jack Treiers management did not care to apologize or make things better, they do not believe in customer satisfaction and really failed to make up for all these problems. We were supposed to receive a customer satisfaction survey after the job, but we never got one– because they know they were awful! !I want to make my complaints known to them in person and I want to be reimbursed for my damages. I will make sure that everyone we know in the Central PA area does not go through what we went through!
I also will not go with United vanlines again because they did not do anything to help us either. They should not contract with such poor companies as Jack Treier’s. TERRIBLE!
