This is a great salon for men and women and whether you’re a hipster or fending off the grays in middle age. The vibe is very relaxed and fun. Everyone in the shop is super nice and loves what they do. Wendy always manages to give me enough of a change/​spruce up each cut, so I feel a little extra glamorous when I leave. The quality cut makes it easy for me to style… and that is not my talent. Book in advance, Wendy and Erin and even the newer girls are in high demand.

Kayla has cut my hair 3 times now and colored it. I’ve been so happy with her work every time. For some reason my desired hair style is a difficult one to get stylists to cut accurately and even when I show them a photo I’m often unhappy with the results. Not Kayla! She gets it right every time.
Ground Zero isn’t just a business, they are part of the neighborhood. If you need a haircut you should definitely check them out!

Ground Zero is an excellent salon and has provided me with great service including fixing bad hair cuts from other salons (including an awful home cut I gave my husband), helping me with advice for new cuts, and overall great maintenance of good cuts they gave me and my husband. Erin is my regular stylist and she also helped me with hair for my wedding. She was flexible and creative. She helped me chose an appropriate style, showed me what would work or wouldn’t work, and ultimately gave me wedding hair that was gorgeous without being overworked. She also met me very early in the morning of my wedding to help me get ready. Thank you so much!

Wendy works hair magic! She rescued my frazzled, wig-​like mop with a chic, hip cut. I have difficult, coarse, super thick hair. I’ve always bounced around from stylists because I’ve never been this psyched about a cut. She is also just really cool and fun to talk to. I don’t think I’ll ever be able to let another touch my hair!

My cherub has a lot of hair. She has been getting proper haircuts since her first birthday. I got tired of schlepping her into the city for a haircut so decided to try Ground Zero because it was close to home.
I’m really glad I did. Erin did a great job. She knew how to entertain a three year old for 15 minutes which was pretty impressive as well. ‘Hey, do you have a dog?’ Score one for Erin.
There is easy on street parking and The Juice Room right down the street if you are early or need a bribe.

Started going there a while back, when my original stylist wasn’t available for an extended period of time, and i have not looked back. From Austin who helped me book the appointment and later gave me an amazing shampoo to Erin who asked questions about what i normally had done, really looked at my hair, offered suggestions, and ultimately gave me an amazing cut and color. I go pretty much every week and i always leave a happy lady. Everyone there is great, you’re always treated like a friend not a client, and a big shout out to my regular Tuesday girls (Kayla and Erin), my little cookie Monsters.

Today was my first appointment with Wendy and I am so happy to have found her. My hair looks amazing and everyone is so friendly. I felt like I had been her client for years. I would highly recommend her!

I went here and truly got the best hair cut i’ve had in years. I took my son back and also loved his haircut. I really wouldn’t go anywhere else. I’m glad i found this place. There was also just a fun vibe and local.

After moving to the area I was looking around for a hair salon. I have been going to Erin for my color and cuts for almost a year now. Absolutely fantastic!

If you are looking for a great salon with friendly stylists and great prices look no further! I was nervous to find a new stylist (I’m new to the neighborhood) and had a bad experience at the last place I went to, and this was the best choice I could have made! Erin understood exactly what I wanted and gave me a great cut! My previous hair cut at a different salon was awful and the stylist cut my hair way too short. So after 3 months I finally grew it back out and did not want to lose length but needed it shaped up and fixed. She did exactly that! It’s rare to find a stylist who respects when you say «I don’t want it too short» or «I don’t want to lose a lot of length»! The salon has a friendly, neighborhood feel to it and it was an overall great experience! I’m glad I finally found my go-​to salon and stylist in the neighborhood!

I am new to the area and wanted a local salon to get my hair done. I recently had a bad highlighting experience and wanted to try this salon. Wendy did my ombré and it turned out AMAZING! I couldn’t be happier with my hair color and the service at Ground Zero. They made me feel very comfortable and I cannot wait to get back in two weeks to get my hair styled for an upcoming event!

getting my hair cut is one of my least favorite activities: no one ever seems to get it right (i have extremely fine/​thin hair, but a lot of it). i usually end up sulking about it for a few weeks then avoiding hair salons as long as possible (i made it 7 months this time, and my hair grows fast!). i tried Ground Zero on the recommendation of a friend and was pleasantly surprised!
Wendy really took the time to listen to what I wanted and used her expertise to work with my (somewhat) difficult hair. the results were fantastic. i love my new look and feel incredibly relieved to have a local stylist i can depend on.
the salon itself is very cute and comfortable and has a great location on Germantown Ave. I loved being able to look out the big store front windows while waiting for my appointment and while my hair was being worked on.

I am new to the area and needed a hair make over badly. I read the reviews from this salon and was not disappointed. My appointment was with Wendy and she gave me a new updated and sassy haircut and also gave me highlights and lowlights that I am truly amazed by. A true professional…

Erin has colored my hair several times. She does a beautiful job. She also dyes my brows which can be tricky; in her hands, they look good. Erin is personable, professional and stylish. I like the woman who washes my hair, too. When I discovered that I didn’t have enough quarters for the meter, she immediately offered them to me. The salon offers comfortable chairs, an array of magazines and a low-​key, friendly vibe. I love the colors on the walls. My only suggestion would be to vary the music a bit – maybe some jazz or songs from The Great American Songbook?
Ground Zero is on an interesting block on Germantown Ave. I discovered it after attending a performance at Quintessence Theatre.

Wendy did my hair for my wedding. She worked from a picture I brought and made it even better. It was soft, beautiful and seriously stunning. What’s more, it held up all night long without looking ‘over-​done’ and hard-​laquered. I felt like a movie star. Wendy is an awesome person and just plain talented. She approaches hair-do’s like a real artist and it shows.

This was my first visit. Same day appointment wasn’t an issue. There’s metered parking out front on Germantown Avenue, but you can do street parking in the neighborhood. About 3 or 4 stylist stations. I had Sarah as a stylist. She was really nice, gave a great cut, and was very personable. She gave me a consultation before we started and listened to my preferences. I felt very comfortable the entire time. $ 50 for the cut. Bring cash for tip since they don’t allow it on credit card. I’ll definitely come back.

I wanted to find a good salon in my neighborhood and I finally have. The ladies at Ground Zero Mount Airy are great. Erin did my husband and son’s hair. They both look great and they are happy. Wendy cut my hair. I asked her for a dramatically different style from the style I had when I walked in and she was fantastic. She suggested changes to the picture I brought with me; things she thought would work better for me and I couldn’t be happier with my style. We will all be going back.

I like supporting the local businesses in Mt. Airy. I saw Erin for a single process color. She did an excellent job and was very friendly and professional. The salon is small and intimate and faces GTA so lots of bright sunshine and there is a free parking lot across the street and metered parking in front. I will definitely return and recommend Erin for your color needs. However this shop is not a good place for small unattended children.
