Terrible customer service over the phone, and just super frickin’ rude in general. This seems to be a redundant complaint for this location in particular, but as I found out today there still don’t seem to be enough bad reviews written to actually resolve the problem. I called in looking for a price on a particular, very basic, item that ALL of the other hardware stores seem to carry besides ACE. Apparently this was a very exhaustive and time-consuming request, or at least that’s how the newly post-pubescent man-child on the other end of the line made it seem. I get it, you don’t carry the item I need, but that’s all you have to say; you don’t have to give me obvious attitude in a degrading tone along with it. And when I asked if they were still doing the free paint samples advertised in their commercials, you would have thought I’d just made a tasteless joke about his mother! I almost felt as if him having to tell me that this«promotion» had already ended(even though the commercials used the words«anytime» and«always» regarding when this service was available) made him genuinely angry. How DARE I call his store and ask for relevant information over the phone before driving all the way there, what kind of country do I think we live in? Apparently one where I still thought good customer service still existed. Silly me.

Just picked up my new Weber BBQ grill, with the help of James! Great service, from the moment I walked into the door to helping me load it into my truck. Thanks again for the expertise and the deal made sense. Glad to have this neighborhood gem down the street.

This is a rather small store with limited selection. Custom service is hit or miss, as you usually get a kid from high school with no idea what you need or where to look, but sometimes will get someone with a clue. They are never open during holidays, which is fine except they never post notices about it on their website. Worse of all, I had a situation where I was returning an unused shower cartridge just a few days over their 60 day return policy and they wouldn’t take it — no wiggle room on this policy. Nearby Ace Hardwares can have longer return periods, so check those out.

This started out as a mom and pop store decades ago. The owners had their kids working there as family businesses do. It was always out of items as TruValue and I hoped as Ace it would improve. It is tremendously over priced with little selection. The customer service is practically non existent with young kids who will send you away an hour before closing and tell you to come back the next day. The reason it gets two stars, it’s our neighborhood kids working there and I support my local neighbors. I did finally get one person to offer to order me an out of stock item and it actually did come in. I, too have wondered how they survive on the short hours, lack of stock and atrocious service? I just go there for small items and to say hi to the kids, who are trying to learn what it means to have a job. I keep this in mind or else I would not even step foot in there. They provide a small community service by employing our local kids. I figured out they do not need to make money long ago. I’m guessing it must be a losing tax write off for the owner? While 97% of the time they do not have what I went there for, I always find some little gift item that is unique or cute. Overpriced but cute.

Just like the other reviewer says, horrible customer service and I’ve been a manager before so I know. In the past a couple times I’ve been waiting at the register, while 4 employees, standing in a circle, ignoring everyone because their conversation was more important than helping the people the truly pay their bills. Customer service seems to be a long gone and forgotten skill in this world in general. Apathetic and uncaring immature children with jobs. While people are unemployed and starving. I’ll go where they understand all that and I don’t need to explain myself. The prices are ridiculous and they have a very limited inventory. I seriously don’t see how they’re still in business in these times.

Poor selection, ad items never seem to be in stock & they don’t honor all of the ace rewards programs. Most employees seem to totally ignore my husband and I when we have been there-people stand at the cashier waiting for a long time with no service in sight. We will take our hard earned money elsewhere!
