UYE: Tapas & Wine @Cijjo Restaurant and Lounge

Ultra-​exclusive UYE organized by Unilocaler Elite Extraordinaire, Janet O was five stars of fun and fabulousness. A handsome photographer (Adam D), drink tix and a sign-​in sheet rounded out the official feel of the unofficial event. Hooray for no name tags — Unilocalers are old pros at introducing ourselves to new faces. Sticky name tags end up stuck in my hair early on anyway. Or stuck to the floor after the first hug. I finally met Jan P. who is always checking in to places around my hood! We’re already Unilocal friends, but it was way better to meet him in the flesh! Everyone was super friendly and fun to talk to that we all stayed past the event end time and an unofficial UYE (part 2) happened at Verde.
Swanky modern setting and delicious bites courtesy of Cijjo. I’ve lunched here before, but I really appreciated the opportunity to sample a wider variety of the menu offerings. Lots of truffle fries all around, plus flat breads, charcuterie and fried Shishito peppers. The food was simply delicious. As I bit into a freshly made flatbread, I think I heard the angels sing.
I finally had the chance to meet super sommelier Manda B and man is she gorgeous! Really sweet too! She hooked me up with such a generous pour that the second drink ticket wasn’t necessary.
I really enjoyed spending time with the beautiful Janet O. She knows how to throw a party. Did you see her leather pants and heeled boots?! HOT. Thank you, Janet O, Adam D, Manda B and Cijjo for a solid event worth more than five gazillion stars.

Five solid stars for an Unofficial, but felt like Official, Unilocal event!
The first star goes to the «official» feel. I knew I was in for a treat when I «got in» to this very exclusive UYE. And yes, it was all that and more!
Another star goes to Cijjo. The atmosphere and staff were superb! Their Flat breads, Fried shishito peppers, Truffle fries, and Charcuterie plates were divine.
Of course, a star goes to the organizers. Janet O always puts on rockin events, and this one was the cream of the crop! Thank you Janet and Adam for hosting! The venue and theme were perfect! And to have Manda B there at the helm was like putting the icing on the cake. These long-​time Unilocalers know how to throw a party!
Another star for a shining star… named Manda B! Boy, does she know her stuff! Manda hooked us up! That red wine was exquisite! And thank you for the pours!

Lastly, meeting new and familiar Unilocal friends always gets a star in my books. It sure was a great time out!

Long over due review!
This was my first ever Unilocal event official or not. I was one the lucky few that was able to get in this even and I am estatic that I did! I have nothing to compare to it but I was able to meet a handful of other Unilocalers, mostly Elite in which all were very friendly and best of all. all we did was talk about the different bites that we go to or love.
This restaurant is nestled in downtown Mountain View on Castro Street. The ambience is very nice, cozy and slightly intimate. It is perfect for a date or just a hang out with friends for drinks and of course tapas!
They have a vast list of wines and we were able to sample a few. The sommelier Manda knew her stuff and answered all my questions. If I can only have tried more wines but then I guess I would have to come back during happy hour to sample more. and since I work in Mountain View on Tuesdays it’s the perfect spot to hang out until traffic passes before I make my trek back to Monterey.
They served a few tapas to enjoy while we mingled and drank. The truffle fries and the flambé were my top on the list.
I had such a wonderful time and people were just faboulous! I am hoping to attend another event. Thank you so much Janet O for putting this together!

Janet O. organizes yet another UYE, and I was still recovering from the Arcadia one. Sometimes I feel my social life is more hectic than my workload. Thanks to Janet, our life is full of excitement and social events. Cijjo UYE was a template of what all UYE’s should be; this one was special thanks to Cijjo’s and Manda Bear’s generosity. The restaurant is super posh, a transplant décor from Miami. I’ve dined here previously and totally enjoyed it. They offer small plates with international flavors, which should suit anyone’s palate. The service is also worth noting as extremely attentive and professional. The UYE was no exception, Tom (restaurant owner) and Manda Bear (sommelier) wined us with her own selection of wine and dined us with small bites, including prosciutto, cheese and crackers, fresh veggies and dip, peanuts, olives, fried peppers, and several pizzas. A select 25 Unilocalers were lucky to attend this event, with a long waitlist. I love these small events, as I actually have time to socialize with most in attendance. There were familiar faces and some new ones, all in all the event couldn’t have gone any better.
Again, thanks to Janet for organizing this splendid UYE, and big applause to Cijjo’s generosity. I hope that this gave people a taste of the restaurant’s potential and character. In all certainty, I’ll be back for dinner really soon.

This was my very first UYE!!!
Janet O. and Adam D. were both so great at putting it all together. I was getting compliments left and right from Janet, making sure if I was in for this intimate event or not. To be honest, I was feeling very sick at work beforehand. But I wasn’t going to let that stop me from missing out on this! I even felt better once we got there, maybe because we were standing around, interacting, rather than sitting down, typing away at the computer (as I am doing right now haha!).
I’m so glad I decided to act on my FOMO (fear of missing out) because although I’ve been friends with Janet on Unilocal,this was my first time actually meeting her face to face. And might I add, she is the cutest thing ever! I adore her! Her and Adam D. are the best!
First thing we went for… can you guess? Food and alcohol! What else is new? The truffle fries were bomb! And pizza with runny egg yolk? I am sold! 2 free glasses of wine per Unilocaler? Manda B. provided excellent service. She knows her wines well and was just a sweetheart. She made sure us Unilocalers were all taken good care of :)
The event was supposed to end strictly at 8pm, yet we weren’t out until 9pm! Cijjo definitely went above and beyond for us. I couldn’t help gape at all the dishes coming out for the customers. They looked beautiful and delicious! Definitely curious to try.
It was definitely a cracking night because half the time I had to shout when I was chitchatting with new and old friends and/​or lean in with my ear to hear someone else hahaha!
Afterwards, a few of us even ventured to Verde to party it up a little more ;)

AWESOME people! And awesome place! Janet did a excellent job with this event. My first Unilocal event and for SURE won’t be my last! The food was perfect with the wine.

The first time I walked into Cijjo (sigh joe) I was immediately captivated by the décor. Sleek and modern. The bar is of course like a moth to a fire to me. Very attractive. Not to mention the sexy sommelier Manda B also an avid Unilocaler who runs the magic pour behind the counter every Tuesday night.
Tom part owner and looking dashing last night was present and made sure we were taken care of.
Food and wine flowed. Their flambé was my favorite of the night. Although the prosciutto ain’t that bad!
I am a fan of good tapas and wine. I can get both here! See you soon Cijjo! Thanks for hosting us!

Great event! Thanks to Janet for putting this together and thanks to the wonderful staff! I gotta say, this was extremely organized, refreshingly fun, and food was plentiful!
Came here straight from work and I honestly just wanted to see my friends again while sipping on some alcohol… And eat good food. Thank god this event had all those areas covered because I would have died from starvation HAHAHS.
Anyways I felt this event had a great atmosphere. I particularly enjoyed the small guest list that we were all on. It allowed us as Unilocalers to break out of our usual group, tall to others, and not get lost in the same group of people.
I really enjoyed meetings Unilocal friends whose reviews I follow but have never actually met them, so kudos to you all!
Anyways great event, A++ would go again!

Delightful way to spend my tuesday night. First time attending Janet O’s lovely event and I had a blast. Her event was intimate enough to meet the lucky chosen 25. I wouldn’t have known about this place without her. Downtown mountain seems to go through a long evolution of new and closing businesses that I rarely keep up with it.
Had the pleasure of meeting the sommelier Manda bear, who btw is there on tuesdays, and poured us tasty teasers of her wine picks. Small bites of flambé, prosciutto, shishito peppers, and tasty truffle fries. There was jamon display directly from spain that we were able to sample. Manda bear said it costs at least $ 100 0_​x tasty-​imagine thinly sliced bacon without the moisture and salt. why can’t we make that here! It’s perfect for sandwiches since it doesn’t get the bun soggy by lunch time. Ok back to Janet’s UYE – high five and two thumbs up lady!
Adding this to my list of happy hours to kill traffic and cool off after work. Pssssttt.. . half off wine bottles on tuesday.

Another a-​w-​e-​s-​o-​m-​e UYE by Janet O. and Adam D.
This was small, intimate gathering of about 25 Unilocalers, which allowed us to mingle with friendly faces, old and new.
Cijjo is a swanky restaurant with modern décor and a full bar. Loved the glowing accent lights and white-​on-​white furniture. A large jamon was displayed in one corner, and it was hilarious to watch people look at it, poke at it, sniff it and basically wonder if it was real.
Manda B. was the wine purveyor and go-​to person for this event. She poured wine, directed food placement, mingled with the attendees and was a lovely sight in her red dress. Tom, one of the owners, also circulated amongst the Unilocalers, down-​to-​earth and charming.
We were treated to various small dishes, charcuterie+cheese and (generous) glasses of wine. My faves were the truffle fries and roasted pepper. I tried the Prosecco and Montepulciano d’Abruzzo, and both were very easy to drink.
Thank you again for J&A, Manda B and the owners/​staff of Cijjo for making my (tipsy) Tuesday! :)

Janet O. and Adam D hosted what should be the model template for hosting a UYE! They beautifully negotiated with Cijjo complimentary light snacks and wine tastings. We had the entire back area of Cijjo reserved for us, and the spacing and layout of the wine station and food tables encouraged everyone to move and mingle.
We also had access to a veteran sommelier, Manda B, who was simultaneously pouring and educating. This was an intimate affair so this was a great opportunity to re-​connect with familiar faces and new ones as well. Cheers to Janet and Adam for all of their hard work!

I was familiar with Cijjo already as I have attended a birthday dinner here not too long ago. After being warmly greeted by Janet, we were given two drink tickets each.
I like how we had the whole back to our small and intimate group. I proceeded to go munch on some light snacks and immediately recognized many friendly and familiar faces to chat with. Although I didn’t have a drink, I noticed they had the very knowledgeable Manda B. pouring and answering all wine related questions.
Adam D. was the official event photographer and he did an excellent job as he always does at all Unilocal events. All in all, this was a very fun and cozy event that was managed very well by the wonderful team of Janet and Adam. Congratulations on throwing a spectacular UYE!

A group of 25 Unilocalers were chosen by Janet O. and Adam D. to get together at this UYE and we basically ate, drank, and mingled all night long!
Cijjo is definitely a really nice restaurant with a small bar on the right side once you walk in. Though it is a small dining area, Cijjo’s dishes were able to amaze a lot of us including myself :)
We were all able to sample a lot of the tapas which were cheese, spinach dip, truffle fries, pizza (with egg in it whaaaa), grapes, olives, meat like salami, and other delicious snacks. Both red and white wine were served by the very famous Manda Bear that I got to meet myself :) (she knows her draaanks)
I was able to chat it up with a few Unilocalers that I already met before and as well as those I haven’t met until this event!
Thank you so much to both Janet O. and Adam D. for hosting such a great UYE, Adam D. for always taking sexy ass photos, and Cijjos for having us there that night and for being such awesome hosts! :)

Cijjo (correctly pronounced «SIGH-​JO», not «cee-​joe», lol), a wine and tapas restaurant, located in downtown Mt. View, with modern violet/​magneta lighting which sparks a romantic mood. About 25 Yeepers attended to this event for a couple complimentary wine glasses and assorted snacks such as olives, cheese, charcuterie, carrots & celeries with spinach dip, bread and grapes. Also thank you to our awesome wine enthusiast, Manda B. She’s a knowledgeable sommelier who knows about her wine! Thanks for letting me try out the red, Chardonnay and the Proseco!
I’ve got to meet new faces here and there as well reunited with old Unilocalers. It was a relaxing Tuesday to unwind.

When Janet O plans a UYE (Unofficial Unilocal Event), you go.
That’s just the way it is.
I’ve only been a bay area resident for a little over 2-​months but I feel pretty comfortable saying I’d follow Janet O (and her #1 +1, Adam D) into a burning building if I knew they were hosting it. Everything they touch is magic.
On top of being able to see two of my favorite people, I finally got to meet the lovely Manda Bear and get a taste (literally) of her wine expertise from the complimentary and oh-​so-​generous pours care of Cijjo (pronounced Sigh Joe, as Wanugee so wonderfully pointed out). I got to meet the manager, Tom, who was not only incredibly handsome, but well spoken, accommodating, and outgoing enough to network and mingle amongst our group of seasoned Unilocalers with ease.
It was an absolute pleasure getting to see so many beautiful Unilocal faces and get a taste of what Cijjo has to offer. I can’t wait to come back for real and try some more of their masterfully prepared dishes with friends.
And if you ever see Janet O post an event on Unilocal,clear your calendar and hit ‘I’m In’ as fast as you can because they really are a sight to see.

Great venue choice at Cijjo (pronounced Sigh Joe), a chic resto on the popular Castro Street food corridor in Mt View specializing in small plates aka tapas, but not just Iberian specialties but global selections. They have a great wine list and shared a red, white and sparkling proseco for this unofficial Unilocal event crowd of about 20 mostly Elites.
Great free small bites from Cijjo too. Everyone had a great time mingling with new and old friends.
Big thanks to Manda Bear for her beautiful hospitality and service, to Cijjo for the drinks and food, and to Janet and Adam.

This event was at Cijjo, a restaurant that serves wine and international dishes as tapas. This place has a very modern ambiance with sleek lighting accents. The event was very chill, with a casually served arrangement of charcuterie for everyone to snack on. In addition to this, Cijjo had some unique tastings brought out for us. There were dishes of truffle fries, prosciutto, roasted chili peppers, and pizzas served throughout the night. My favorite was the pizza with the perfectly cooked eggs topped with fresh arugula! It was all kicked up a notched with the help of the Manda Bear B., who selected some awesome wines for us to have with our dishes.
This was another great job by Janet and Adam as the hosts of another fun night where I came across lots of friends as well as new faces!

First UYE in the south bay for me and to think I barely got in… LOL. Thank you Janet! But really thank you to Janet O. and Adam D. for setting up this amazing event.
Cijjo is a wine and tapas restaurant in the middle of downtown Mountain View. The restaurant is really sleek looking with all white everything. There’s a large wall of wine bottles which doubles as both decoration and storage.
About 25 people were able to get into this event and many more were on the wait list, making this event quite popular. Small bites including, prosciutto, spinach dip, peppers, crackers and cheese, ham and more were provided. Everyone was also given two tickets for wine. I tried both the chardonnay and the red wine and both were extremely tastely.
I got to meet new friends and catch up with old ones. All in all, this was a fantastic event. Thank you to Cijjo, Janet and Adam for being great hosts!
