Nice guy, seems to do decent work. Had him come out to take care of our backyard for about a year. The price we were paying him was much higher (3 times) than our last gardener, but he didn’t seem to do much more than the last one for that price. Whenever he did do extras like mulching, we were billed extras, his monthly price was basically mow and blow every 2 weeks. Every month there seemed to be something that he charged us extra for. Like hauling leaves to the dump. Well, we decided to let him go and do the lawn work ourselves. My husband has been doing the mow and blow as needed and mulching and pruning and you know what, the backyard looks great.

Until we moved in January 2013, Erni Trujillo and company tamed our overgrown ivy, cleared bushels of leaves from the enormous oak tree on our lot, and mowed our lawn every other week. Best of all, his prices were extremely reasonable. Had he been around this summer, we’d have hired him at the new place in a minute.

We were very disappointed when we received an email today — the day before our weekly mow and blow guy is supposed to come out. We get an email stating that he won’t be able to work for us effective immediately. No notice week or two.
That is fine since the service was also disappointing. He was the highest priced gardening service from whom we received a quote and not much better than the guy we had prior who was half the price.
We thought the higher price would be OK if we could just let them solve the lawn watering problems etc without having to give directions. Unfortunately not the case. His English seems fine but talking on the phone is a little tough. I explained 2 weeks ago the issue that our sprinklers were set two strong so that on one side of the front yard everything was wet and that the tree there was soaked to the point that we had been told it is being killed. He should have also noticed this since we had a mushroom problem there which he later told me is due to over watering. But he also said the same small front yard needs more watering…
So for 2 weeks, the yard remained dry on one side and wet and growing huge mushrooms on the other. The only way this could be solved is if we met, he said. Then he couldn’t fix the problem. He started to and then left. I finished up.
When he started to fix the problem I noticed him quickly cut a 12 inch diameter hole in my sod without first asking. He just assumes it is OK. He cut through some tree roots that are about an inch in diameter and thought nothing of it. I noticed the same type of hole was cut around a sprinkler in the back yard as well.
Alone I found a simple fix in the front yard by just moving a staked sprinkler over a couple feet to face the lawn. He didn’t notice this but now, 3 days later, that part of the lawn is green again (back from brown)
Did I mention that a week ago he said he’d call me and tell me when he’d have someone come regularly? Then he never called. He said he had to go back to Mexico for a family emergency
We got his name originally via a referral from an Arborist which seemed like an OK guy. He raved about this guy. I think they are in business together. Both my wife and I got tired of hearing about his arborist friend. He kept telling my wife how his arborist friend (who gave him the referral) should come out and work on our trees. The cross selling was tiring.
All in all not great.
It all started well. He spent 90 minutes here at the time of the quote showing my wife our sprinkler system and he came back one weekend 2 weeks later on an unscheduled visit to talk to me. I think his labors just do mow and blow and he goes and tries to fix problems. Maybe he has too many clients but in the short time we had him, it didn’t seem worth the price.
I don’t think his laborers are any different than any other laborers (don’t speak English) and the one on our yard wasn’t as good with leaf removal compared to our last «gardener».
Oh well.

I definitely recommend Trujillo Landscape. My yard looks exactly as Ernie and I had discussed it would. I’m very pleased with the results and will definitely use them again.

Erni is awesome. He is personable, friendly, knows his plants, and does good quality work on time and at reasonable rates. When we hired Erni, our yard was looking pretty bedraggled, and he did a terrific job tying up loose ends, making the most of the plants we did have, and offering creative solutions for filling in gaps. Highly recommended!

Ernie runs an exceptional company with superior customer service. Izzy even took the time to give my husband great advice on our backyard lawn due to animal discoloration. Not to mention, we had two other neighbors ask for their lawns to be aerated yesterday afternoon and Izzy had the job done right away.
