Sunita Jayakar, MD

Dr. Jayakar is a great doctor and she has helped my mother with her chronic pain. Friendly and incredibly smart, I like the way she thinks out of the box, I would definitelyrecommend her to others.
Too bad some of the ladies at the front desk lack friendliness. Entering an office with a side eye and no smile from the receptionist is not what I’d call friendly. As I sat in the waiting area I noticed 3 other patients enter without a greeting. A smile never hurts ladies.

Dr Jayakar and her staff are just amazing. I have been going to them since 1997 and would highly recommend their office. I appreciate the attention to detail and the positive and responsive attitude.

Dr Jayakar is excellent. She is always attentive and very thorough in her diagnosis. I saw her in 2005 for my SEVERE nerve pain and recovered within 2 months with her medication and prescribed physical therapy. She was very helpful and supportive thorough the whole period. She even gave me her phone number to contact her during emergency.
I had nerve pain again this year and went back to see her again without any doubt. She remembers me even after 7 years. I only trust her to treat my never pain.
I highly recommend her to anyone with nerve and spine related issues.

I’m not even from the Bay Area — but spend a lot of time here. I apparently pinched a nerve — the most God-​awful pain I have ever experienced (and I’m a rock star when it comes to pain tolerance). Dr. Jayakar saw me. First Doc I’ve ever met who was actually on time. Further, she spent what felt like hours of time with me – thoroughly investigating my injury, potential causes, etc. She also made the effort to get to know me personally — and ultimately made her diagnosis and treatment plan based on a myriad of factors. I don’t care where I am (CO or CA) — the next time I have a problem, there is no question — it will be Dr. Jayakar whom I will see.

Dr. Jayakar is the most reliable doctor I have! After going to 3 specialists about my right arm being numb from me elbow to my fingers, I finally went to see Dr. Jayakar. After looking at my arm, she made a quick diagnosis and recommended some exercises and treatments I could just do at home. The numbness was gone in a couple of days and I haven’t had any problems since! Going to Dr. Jayakar was the best decision that I made, and I wish I had gone to her first. Lesson learned.

Dr. Jayakar is great! I went in to see her for some back issues, and her guidance and treatment process proved to work very well and quickly. She was extremely nice and genuinely cared about making me better. I highly recommend her.

Dr. Jayakar is a WONDERFUL doctor!
I saw Dr. Jayakar bc I sprained my ankle a couple weeks ago. It was so bad that I couldn’t bear any weight on it and it was swollen like a tomato. Dr. Jayakar scheduled an x-​ray for me down the street so that she’d already have the x-​rays when I came in. Being an extremely busy graduate student, this was a HUGE plus. This was so much more efficient than having to see the doctor, get referred for testing and come back (which I’ve had to do on many other occasions). It was so nice that she thought ahead and had me get the x-​rays first before coming in. Furthermore, I don’t remember having to wait very long in order to see her. I’m really glad I chose to see her rather than going to an urgent care clinic or somewhere else the night before :)
When she saw me, she was extremely courteous and gentle with my ankle. Dr. Jakayar made sure that I understood all the instructions on how to care for my ankle and she took the time to answer all my questions, especially about the recovery process which I appreciated bc often I feel like physicians don’t tell you what to expect long term. It was really easy to talk to her and I felt really comfortable as a patient. She also referred me for a brace and physicai therapy which have both been much needed. I felt like Dr. Jakayar truly cared about my well being and cared about my recovery. If I ever do have another sports injury (hopefully not), I wouldn’t think to go anywhere else!

Dr. Jayakar looks out for the best interest of the employer versus the patient. She informed me that I had a permanent disability and then told Workmans Comp that it wasn’t permanent when it came down to the end. She’ll appease the patient but look out for the employers interest. She’s not objective and her professional opinion is skewed. Seeing her will hurt you versus make you feel better.

She is recommended by the company my wife work for (and she had a photo with «Republican Party Doctor of the Year Award»). 2 stars because most workers comp doctors follow guideline that cannot be changed so she isn’t able to do much anyways (or I would have given her worse rating).
Her staff frequently forgot to forward paper works to the workers comp handling companies and caused delay.
Her «nerve test» equipment is very ancient and painful because she use some very old equipment (CRT based oscilloscope and a battery), the same test done with her and another doctor in a different office with newer equipment have such a difference that my wife cried in tears in Jayakar’s test while feel not too bad in the other.
She keeps asking my wife why is she not having kids, and say pregnancy will make the pain reduced and all the hormone makes you feel good, and keep saying «I’ve seen worst condition than yours» but «reminds» patients that «it is not good if you think you are improving because the workers comp might not extend your treatment».
The biggest offense is she just keep blaming workers comp for not paying for chiropractic sessions, giving her very low evaluation (i.e. neck injury can be qualified as 5%-8% permanent disability and she would intentionally give only 5% and the QME give out 8%), and when you file for a QME she get all upset and said the QME doctors will not give a higher rating, etc. Why does she have to intentionally give the lowest rating allowed by law? She wants continue businesses from the big corp who refer workers comp patients to her.
She is a doctor who works for the payer, and so you shouldn’t expect her to stand up for you even if you deserve help.

It’s hard to find a doctor who is genuinely interested in a patient’s well-​being. Dr. Jayakar is just that. She is currently my Workers Comp doctor and I am beyond satisfied. She is effective and thorough. Highly recommended.

I had a great experience with Dr. Jayakar. I hurt my ankle pretty bad a few weeks back and Dr. Jayakar definitely took care of me. She referenced me to a great physical therapist to help improve my ankle and constantly checked in to make sure I was doing okay. I look forward to working with her again as I seem to get injured a lot!

I have been a patient of Dr Jayakar for over ten years in which she has treated me successfully for a variety of physical ailments. The treatments have been very effective seldom requiring multiple follow up visits. Although her practice deals mostly with workers comp patients, she does take private patients such as myself and has always conveyed the feeling that my health and well being were always her primary concern. I’ve also been pleasantly surprised at how well I’ve been able to schedule appointments with her in a timely manner. I would certainly recommend her to anyone seeking competent treatment in the field of physical medicine.

I had been seeing Dr. Jayakar over quit some time because of some sports related issues. It is rare to stumble upon a doctor who cares so much about her patients and yet is so practical when it comes to figuring out a solution. I had a quick recovery from my injuries and was able to resume my daily activities within no time. Great and caring doctor!
