My name is Foh Ming Teng. I own a Nokia Lumia 900. If Nokia management is reading this review, I can be looked up in Nokia’s system as there receptionist has put my prolie up. I call Nokia customer care about a few months ago with a problem on my cell phone. I was advised to send the phone in for repairs as the phone was still under warranty. I went on to ask how long would the repair take and the receptionist said he was not sure. I then asked if I can have a loaner during the repair period. The receiptionist said there is no loaner. I then decided not to send it in because of this and I went on to asked when is the warranty period expiring. The receiptionist said it is not the policy of Nokia to review the expiry date of the warranty. I did not pay any attention to this Nokia’s policy but now I know that it is trying to catch the customer like me who are not aware of the expiry date, off guard and then decline to repair the phone when customers call in after the warranty period. So after a few weeks, my phone had a second problem and this time I was ready to send it in even if there is no loaner for my phone. Now after a few weeks, when I called in the 2^nd time, I was told the warranty has expired. I checked with the receptionist and later with the manager, why the expiry of the warranty period was not made known to me so I can decide to send it in or not. I also asked if Nokia is trying to avoid reparing phones under warranty period so that the company can save cost? After that I’ve decided that I no longer want a Nokia phone in my life. I may be only 1 customer but if I can have this treatment guess how many more would be in my position.

Nokia N900 Rocks

If you spend any time at all with me, you know I am a pretty big Nokia fan. In fact, I could give some of those Apple fanboys a run for their money…
No, wait, those people are CRAZY, no one is as fanatical as they are. Still, it’s easy to be high on Nokia when they make a product so far superior to Apple’s that they aren’t even in the same category.
But who even knows about this? Certainly not anyone in the US. Here, nokia is more associated with the cheap handsets you get for free when signing up with a carrier. Junky phones that are only good for making and receiving calls, if that. Do people even use mobile handsets for talking anymore? Not so much, and the US market has been divided into email/​texting and web browsing. And the winners in these categories are Blackberry and Apple, respectively.
That works if you want to do only one thing with your expensive phone, but Nokia makes handsets that do both of these things, plus so many others (voice-​guided GPS navigation, for example. Can’t do that on an iPhone). But the big fail is they don’t tell anyone. I’m a fan, but it’s hard to be when it feels like your lover has left you out in the cold.
