Love the Frankie Johnnie and Luigi locations. The fresh bread with the butter is always very good and fresh tasting. I usually order Di Bari or the baked rigatoni. Both have lots of flavor and are cooked very well.

Best Italian food on this coast. You know it’s old school italian goodness by the marinara sauce alone, and this place is the best hands down.

5 stars for food. 3 stars for service. 1 star for the wait during dinner time. 1 hour and 35 minutes from time you get your name down to the time the food arrive at the table. That’s the typical wait for a party of four people. Don’t even think about going if you have a party of more than four. Been here many times because of the consistently good food, unfortunately so are the services. The pasta is not done«el dente», but that’s exactly how I like mine. The sauce is perfectly lightly creamy and not to salty. The fresh tomatoes sauce was the best with lots of it on top of the angel hair pasta. The pizza crust is thin and crispy. Great food!!!

Started with the antipasto plate for two. Really enough for four. Since the flavors were so great, we did our best to eat it all. Didn’t quite succeed. It makes a light supper all on its own. Braciole was delicious. Huge. One order was too much for two. The meat is on top of spaghetti. Sauteed squash on the side. Tender beef, yummy stuffing, delicious mushroom tomato sauce. I will definitely be back for more.

We still like this place and go there regularly. and always order the $ 4 Margaritas. The back room is very attractive and the service is good. They have an upstairs room that we do not consider desirable and can usually avoid. They offer a 15% senior discount which makes it reasonable for us to eat there(every other week or so). They have very good to excellent minestrone soup that we always order(and often order extra to take home). We usually order pizza which is generally quite good although I have had better tomato sauce. I think their bread is terrible and we now ask them not to bring it to the table.

I’ve eaten here a few times over the years and been happy with my experiences, but after my last visit I realized just how great Frankie, etc is! I recently dined at an ostentatious Italian restaurant that had the audacity to think their ravioli was worth $ 28 for FOUR raviolis(they weren’t worth it) At Frankie, etc I got a whole plate of the most delicious raviolis covered in Bolognese sauce for $ 13. I believe the noodles were homemade — they were soft and filled with melt in your mouth cheese! I took the leftovers home and they were just as good the next day. Our meal was served with warm bread and a garlic herb butter — sooooo good! My husband had the lasagna that was as good as his favorite East Coast restaurant. The wine and beer were reasonably priced, the atmosphere pleasant, and the service fast!

Always love FJLt. They don’t always hit every mark on the board, but overall they normally do a great job and are super friendly, which, being a neighbor, is what I expect from a neighborhood institution that’s been here since what, the ‘40s? 50’s? I even get extra marinara in case I have some store bought ravioli’s in the freezer or just some quick spaghetti… Currently, and I hope. Management, you’re reading… You need to renew an affiliation with a delivery service. You used to partner with W on W’s, and for a short time, Fluc. But now it’s either pick up or dine in and no other option… for a pizza joint(as a main stay for cash flow, versus needing to fill seats) you really do need a delivery option… only thing in my book at least, holding y’all back from 5 stars.

We’ve got several mishaps through the dinner. Water was dripping from something up there, salmon salad have not had salmon in it, etc. Usually I’m very tolerant and forgiving as long as food is good to my taste. It was not the case. I’ve tried spinach salad and calzone and both was disappointing. There was nothing specifically wrong with them, but it was not tasty at all. On the pro side, portion size is huge! And it’s good for groups.

This place is popping, even on a weekday, for dinner. We happened to come during a basketball playoff game so that might’ve been why it was extra popular. But from I could tell, they only have TVs in the bar area though. The bar area is not very big though. I counted maybe 6 tables and the bar with maybe 6 stools. Some people were just in the bar area, grabbing a drink while they waited for their table. But most of us were there for the game. Service was seriously lacking while we were there. I only dealt with one waitress and I saw a manager/bartender around. It took so long to get our order taken, to get our food to get refills on our drinks, and to get the check. Luckily, we planned to be there for the whole game and wasn’t in a hurry. But it was still a little annoying. For food, we had a large pizza and was able to get half NY style and half Hawaiian. The waitress didn’t tell us upfront but I think it’s like $ 4 extra to split it. I didn’t see that fee on the menu so a little heads up would’ve been nice. This was actually probably enough food for the four of us. But being fatty Americans, I also got the gnocchi barese and chicken toscano. It was so much food. The pizza was the best part though. Lots of toppings and the crust was medium thick. The pasta and chicken was just ok and seemed super heavy. But yeah I had plenty of leftovers. They also have quite a few beers on tap if that’s what you like. It was an $ 80 meal for 3 dishes and 2 beers. Did not seem worth it.

this is one of the better takeout options around. several different pasta’s you can order by the half gallon(enough to serve our family of 5) for $ 25 – 30. You can also order the meatballs, and just cook noodles at home. You actually can’t download the menu from a mac which is kind of a problem(curious if they know this).

The food is pretty good at Frankie Johnnie & Luigi’s as are their signature drinks special. The Manhattan was stiff and quite tasty. However, I cannot give this place more stars because of what happened during our last visit. My pasta arrived with a piece of hair in it. I pointed it out to the manager(server was nowhere to be found) and she quickly apologized and took it away. It took about 20 minutes before the new plate arrived — by then my husband had already finished most of his food(and he was eating VERYSLOWLY so that he would not finish before I even get my food). So I basically sat there and watched him eat his food, then when my food came, he sat there watching me eat mine. It would have been nice if the manager asked if she should take his food back to keep it warm while we waited for my new plate to arrive. We ordered several drinks throughout dinner and had coffee and tea afterwards. The least the manager could have done was comp the $ 3 coffee because of what happened. We were extremely grossed out by the hair, had to wait a long time for the new plate, and ended up watching each other eat their plate because of the timing of things(otherwise his food would have gone cold). When the bill came we felt that they weren’t sorry for what happened. I know it sounds petty, but service is very important and that is the least they could have done to make up for what happened. I’m not sure that I’ll be ready to come back to this restaurant anytime soon.

Overall average Italian style joint. Nothing fancy;family style eating. Place gets full during lunch so make reservations ASAP food is heavy so be ready to be full. Highlights was fresh pasta they used. Fettuccine was light and tasty. Calamari was light and crispy served with tar tar sauce or cocktail sauce. Bread was old but had good buttery garlic sauce. Price was average and would not break the bank for large family outing.

Had a reservation but had to wait 1 hr for table! No apology and when asked why, they told me to talk to manager. Worst service and very rude people, simply not a good restaurant to be.

I LOVE what this establishment stands for. It was here long before the Googlers and the yuppies. It stands tall for the blue collar crowd. It employs a Latin American staff who work their butt off and offer good service, and it offers very decent food at affordable prices. You can get a caprese for less than $ 10, wines for less than $ 10 and their crown jewel pasta, the prawns portofino for $ 15. Their brand and interior design does need a refresh, and they have earned it. I wouldn’t come here if you’re looking for an expensive 5 star date night dinner. Come here for an affordable family dinner, a relaxing night with a friend or two, or even sit solo in the bar.

My first time here with some friends and had a fabulous time! Wait was 20 minutes on a Saturday’s night so we went to the bar. I ordered a madress but the bartender didn’t know what it was. Vodka cran and Orange juice. It was a good drink though. We ordered appetizers — calamari which was delicious and the best garlic cheesy bread with the most amazing marinara sauce! Our table was ready pretty fast, less than 20 minutes. Our server was nice but not overly friendly. She could have smiled more. The food came promptly and was fabulous. Love the warm bread with garlic spread. Overall it was a fun time and great experience and would love to come back.

We come here often when we are in the mood for pasta. Service is always quick and the servers are nice too. It’s like a step up from a fast food joint. What I usually swallow: FRIEDCALAMARI: It always comes out piping hot and it’s not overcooked so not overly chewy. Enough to share especially if you’re getting a salad prior to your entrée. GNOCCHIWITHPESTO: I get this appetizer as an entrée as although it doesn’t look like much, these puffy pillows are heavy on the tummy! Soft, chewy and addicting. Don’t make the mistake of filling up on bread if you’re ordering this! MUSSELS in WHITEWINESAUCE: Also an appetizer I get as an entrée along with my gnocchi. How can you go wrong with mussels in wine sauce? It’s just the right portion without getting sick and the sauce is so addicting. MOLTENCHOCOLATECAKE: This is alright, not drop dead delicious but it’s a good choice out of the other dessert items on the menu. We like it here and like I said, we’ve never had bad service or a bad experience here so as long as we’re in the mood for pasta, this will probably be someplace we frequent.

It is always a wonderful experience at FJL! My parents and I have dinner here about once a month, and the staff are always welcoming. My favorite dish was taken off the menu, but the chefs are always accommodating and still make it for me! The only downside is that they only take reservation for parties of eight or more, so the wait can be a tad long at times, but it’s well worth the wait.
