Bay Area Performance

Have worked with the staff at Bay Area performance for a few years now, they offer great rental bikes at good prices. I recommend Bay area Motorcycles to do business with.

I found myself in need of new tires for my Harley. I usually go to San Jose Harley but since I live in Mountain View I did a quick search to see if there was a shop closer to my house and was lucky to find Bay Area Performance.
I gave them a call. I spoke with Scott and told him what I needed. I wanted white walls and sometimes those can be hard to find. Scott had a set on the shelf ready to go.
I come in to drop off my bike and Scott gives me the choice of the exact tires I had asked for or a newer technology from the same company which are supposed to last longer. I’d been considering this exact change so I told Scott let’s try it.
The kicker was I need my bike by Saturday for a big ride with my friends. Scott said it would be no problem. He’d have the tires ordered, received, and installed in time.
And he did. I have put 450 miles on the tires so far and they are working just fine. I’ll be bringing my bike to Scott for services in the future.

I don’t often write reviews on Unilocal,but Bay Area Performance Motorcycle deserves one. I live in Iowa but take rides out to the Bay Area with my dog, Bruiser, to visit family. While there, I have used BAP on a number of occasions, both for normal maintenance — fluids and tire changes, etc. — and for body work my bike needed after an accident. (I have a 99 Road King Classic named Natasha.)
Scott knows his stuff and has good people working for him. Yes, he and his wife are from New York and may not have the sensitive new age California vibe some prefer, but I still like them and find them to be good and accommodating people.

Scott and his crew at Bay Area Performance Cycles are awesome. Always friendly, professional and really know their stuff. I wanted some ape hangers installed on my ’07 Road King, as well as cruise control added. The dealership wanted $ 2k just to put on the apes (!!!). Scott quoted me just over half of that. And when he saw the cruise control module was no longer available for my bike he was undeterred; he pieced it out and modified it so it would work for my bike (which it does, flawlessly). Throughout the course of the next few days I kept calling Scott to add more bits and pieces — new grips, chrome switch housings, chrome master cylinder kit, etc. He was always quick to find part numbers, quoted me prices immediately and got things in when promised. They also found a cracked exhaust bracket which they fixed at a VERY reasonable cost. The end result is absolute perfection. Could not be happier. Will definitely go back to Bay Area Performance Cycles for routine maintenance and any other customizations.

Very friendly and helpful. I rented a BMW and recommend renting here if you are in the Bay Area.

Just gotta say, the lady who answered the phone was really short with me because «I got customers here…» Cool vibe they set there I guess. I had a question about bike maintenance on my enduro and she said they only work on Harleys. At least she took my number so if anyone knows anything over there they MIGHT call me back. Tight. Haha

The rear tire of my motorcycle went flat on the way to work in Palo Alto. Thanks to a drywall screw. Scott came out, towed the bike, and fixed the flat. Provided great friendly service at a great price. He was a bright spot in my otherwise dark day.
Chatted with Scott a bit while I was picking up the bike about the other services he offers. As a result, I am planning to have him do some dyno work on my bike in the very near future.

Had an engine problem with my Ultra. Stealership wanted $ 4k to fix. After learning about Scott/​BAP, I googled him and like what I read. Swung by, chatted with him. After listening to the bike’s issues, he assured me that the chances were 99.9 999 999% that the stealership was wrong wrong wrong, and that the problem was almost certainly an issue with my cam plate.
I liked what I heard, and ended up dropping the bike off with him. A couple of days later, Scott gave me a call, and told me that indeed, after opening up the engine, the problem was exactly what he described. He gave me a few options, we discussed, and moved forward. While the bike was open, I had him do the big bore upgrade at ¹⁄₃ of what the stealership price was. AND that included dyno tuning.
End of story… GREAT results, totally happy with the bike, totally pulling some serious power (oh…and it’s running great again!). After 500 miles, going back for an oil change and dyno fine-tuning…all that was built into the original price. SWEEEEEEEEET.
Highly recommend. ONLY place other than Santa Cruz HD (RIP) that I’ll take my bike to. Period.

My motorcycle recently went flat out of the blue. Had to stop by at the gas station and tried to get some air back in, but failed. Whipped out my iPhone and searched the nearest motorcycle repairs and these guys came out. Called them up and in a few minutes Scott (the owner) comes and pick me up in his sweet tow truck. Got my bike into their shop pretty quick inflated my tire properly and took a lot of time inspecting if I had a leak or not. Very thorough folks, which I like. I totally would recommend them if I ever had a problem if I had a chopper-​type bike (which these guys specializes in — and I was on a sport bike). Oh it seems they’re specially known for tuning and custom fabrication, and from what I see they definitely got the know-​hows and tools.
